After re-reading that this is in the upper and I'm guessing it's not a true hernia. Did any cramping or pain occur right before it? Did it subside?
I've had on occasion my ab muscles cramp up and "tear" through the fascia tissue. It protrudes like a huge knot but subsides and goes away. It usually happens to me right next to the ribs right below the sternum and usually to the left. Happens to me a lot more when I'm cutting and dropped weight. Not saying yours is the same but could be. My doc told me there is nothing in that area(where mine occurs) other than muscle. Hernias usually involve organs pushing through tears.

Hey man, hope it's nothing big. I have a couple family members that have had hernias and they are not nearly as in tune with there body as a lifter is and they came back 100% in a decent amount of time.
Being that it is high though...may just be a ding. Fingers crossed for you man.
Oh, and now I see why people think they're getting a good lower body workout. It's easy to come in and get a debilitating pump using little to no weight.

It's nothing! Just a hematoma, a collection of blood beneath the skin. Meaning my dumb ass popped a blood vessel during my coughing fit.

Notes:
Yesterday marked day 100 of my cut. Went from 222 to 198. Got abs again (they'll be gone soon enough lol). That's good enough for me. Today, I had Chinese food and ate a pizza. Had to live one day.
Tomorrow I'll be back to eating like a sane individual. I'm thinking 3200-3500 calories a day, based on how I feel / how my body reacts.

Thanks, Lou. The diet side of this lifting game is 10x harder than training. I NEVER have to force myself to train (in fact, I usually have to reign myself in), but eating right is another story. I'm sure you can sympathize.

I'm well aware man. I should have never let my diet get so far out hand in the first place. Sad part is my body comp isn't that much better since I began really dieting again back in Jan.

Thanks! Just looking for a lot of submaximal repetition with variation thrown in. The percentages are fairly conservative IMO, so I'll likely be able to do most of it belt-less (which I want to). Taking the patient approach a.k.a. The capo approach
