After re-reading that this is in the upper and I'm guessing it's not a true hernia. Did any cramping or pain occur right before it? Did it subside?
I've had on occasion my ab muscles cramp up and "tear" through the fascia tissue. It protrudes like a huge knot but subsides and goes away. It usually happens to me right next to the ribs right below the sternum and usually to the left. Happens to me a lot more when I'm cutting and dropped weight. Not saying yours is the same but could be. My doc told me there is nothing in that area(where mine occurs) other than muscle. Hernias usually involve organs pushing through tears.

The guy I train with has a small one right below his sternum between his abs. We just call it his prime button lol he primes that bish and squats haha


Seriously though, just chill for the next few days until you see the doc and go from there!
 
Dude, I heard his BLAST going into a meet is 500mg of test and 50mg of anadrol. That's it. He's just a monster.

Apparently he's one of those gentle giants too. Just all around good guy / badass

That's what I was told. Naturally freakish. He seems to be very intelligent and I absolutely love his sense of humor. It's always a treat to see an instagram post from him.
 
Hey man, hope it's nothing big. I have a couple family members that have had hernias and they are not nearly as in tune with there body as a lifter is and they came back 100% in a decent amount of time.

Being that it is high though...may just be a ding. Fingers crossed for you man.

Thanks, rob! Really appreciate it. I keep going back and forth as to what I think it is...just gonna have to wait and see.
 
Can't keep my ass out of the gym. Kept everything extremely light, but best believe I got a good pump.

Was it ill advised to come in today? Probably. Am I in pain? No. But I feel weak through the core, but that likely more psychological than anything.

Doctor's appointment tomorrow at 10am. Last time my family doctor saw me was AT LEAST 2 years ago. I was a 160 pound weakling, so that should be interesting.

Oh, and now I see why people think they're getting a good lower body workout. It's easy to come in and get a debilitating pump using little to no weight.
 
Very true!! It's just not as fun. Too much like cardio

I think it's fun. I usually don't have much time for it on lower days tho.
 
Google says they can occur several different places. Got an appointment for Wednesday at 10am. Really hoping it's a strain too, but I doubt it. Don't see how a lump could be a strain. This sucks :(

Upper abs could be an epigastric hernia, perhaps. Good luck!
 
It's nothing! Just a hematoma, a collection of blood beneath the skin. Meaning my dumb ass popped a blood vessel during my coughing fit.

Notes:

Yesterday marked day 100 of my cut. Went from 222 to 198. Got abs again (they'll be gone soon enough lol). That's good enough for me. Today, I had Chinese food and ate a pizza. Had to live one day.

Tomorrow I'll be back to eating like a sane individual. I'm thinking 3200-3500 calories a day, based on how I feel / how my body reacts.

Thanks, Lou. The diet side of this lifting game is 10x harder than training. I NEVER have to force myself to train (in fact, I usually have to reign myself in), but eating right is another story. I'm sure you can sympathize.

I'm well aware man. I should have never let my diet get so far out hand in the first place. Sad part is my body comp isn't that much better since I began really dieting again back in Jan.

I've always heard you're fatter than you think you are, but I didn't believe it until I started cutting. Thought I had about 10lbs to lose, 15 MAX...nope turned out to be about 25. Oh well, ya live and ya learn.

And ask away, man. Anytime.

I deff see this now. I was 230 after my meet in december. Dieted 15lbs off and I did not look the way I thought I would. I put on 3-4lbs then realized I honestly just needed to keep dieting until I absolutely have to turn my diet around for recovery during meet prep.

This is so true. People always underestimate it. That is why every bro is like 12% body fat when they ask on here (serious ever read those what is my bf threads? lol).

Glad to hear about the hematoma! I've got no worries currently about my hernia. I'm no longer lifting heavy just for hypertrophy. Might be heavy to some, but it's a far cry from what I know my body is used to. I have had zero growth of the hernia and the only thing that's protruding is a little bit of fatty tissue. No pain, no strain when lifting. I'll get it taken care of eventually, but for the time being no worries.

Thanks! Just looking for a lot of submaximal repetition with variation thrown in. The percentages are fairly conservative IMO, so I'll likely be able to do most of it belt-less (which I want to). Taking the patient approach a.k.a. The capo approach
