I would like to thank the crew over at Controlled Labs for selecting me to test their new GDA Blue Sugar!!!!
I am in the middle of cutting some fat right now and up until the last couple days I was running keto with a large refeed every 5-7 days. I have been wanting to add some more carbs in around my workouts to improve performance, but want to do so without hurting my fat loss. As of right now I intend to add carbs back in @ various times during the day and try to keep progress moving right along. Most of this will be intra or post workout carbs, but I will also likely test out how things go with preworkout carbs as well.
I have a glucometer and will dig it out and take a few sample blood sugar readings as well.
Now here is some information on why I am so excited to try this stuff. Berberine is hands down my favorite GDA ingredient and this product has it in spades! Then add in the Agmatine, Banaba and Cinnulin and you have what looks like one hell of a product.
Training has in general been pretty instinctive as of late. Moving back and forth through various splits like Push-Pull-Lower, top to bottom push pull, and full body workouts. Consistently changing volume, intensity as well as rep styles and ranges to drive adaptation.
I have been using a lot of Rep target type sets in my training as of late. It has just brought a lot of simplicity to my workouts while allowing me the intensity that I crave. So you can expect to see them included in my programming quite a bit. A Rep Target is just that, you do 3 work sets and have a total rep target for the 3 sets. You take the first 2 sets to an RPE9, and then the final set to and RPE10-Failure, then you add them up to see if you made it to the rep target. If so you go up on the next workout and if not within 5 of the rep target you go down in weight.
So when focusing on Strength the rep targets will be in the 20-30 rep range, Hypertrophy Focus 30-40 rep range, & Pump 45-200. Yes that said 45-200
In addition to these types of sets we will see Rep Target tests with specific weights to see how many reps I can get too as a bit of tracking.
The hopes are that we will see some steady changes in composition while hopefully remaining more full and geared up for better performance due to focusing on glycogen replenishment.
