KLEEN - STRONG BODY STRONG MIND!

Helping out your son benching is AWSOME!

I may have missed this but does he have any goals or just getting into weight lifting?

He is just now getting into weight lifting. His goals for now are to just get a little thicker and stronger in general. He has no interest in being "Big" and would be more than happy with a Brad Pitt style physique.
Nice one Chris... getting the whole family in there!
Doing what I can. My poor daughter is having an issue with her hip. Trying to get her in to see a chiro to make sure everything is in alignment. Kind of have her doing light duty type workouts to keep from getting stiff but not intense enough to exacerbate it.

So yesterday was basically a wash out. Literally, I woke up to crazy lightning and thunder. Got dressed to go to work then saw that our office had been delayed opening due to the severe flooding. A couple hours later we got the notice that the office would not be opening. I got really lucky in that we had no water in the house but it did get the garage, just a little on the floor. The driveway was like a stream running down the side of the house a few inches deep and just steady flow. Was just intense how much rain fell yesterday. I probably don't need to say it but I didn't get a lift in. Between the rain pouring, the "creek" running down the side of my house I just never made it out there. Instead we just hunkered down for the storm and spent some quality time watching movies, & snuggling.

Now I am really ready for a lift, my joints are still feeling a little beat up so going to really concentrate on warming up a little longer before getting into the heavier weights this week. See how things go there. If I get up there and feel I need to abort I will just drop weight and increase reps.

Hope she is ok... good that you are getting it seen too.

Yeah when she asked me a couple days in a row if I had found one who specialized in kids I knew it was serious enough and not just attention seeking behavior. Still waiting for the insurance to contact me with the name of a provider in our network that works on children.

Okay, I have 2 things going on, one is that the protein I got from MyProtein is bothering my stomach a bit. I know a lot of others got some of it when I did and are not having any issues. However I have connected my recent GI stress to when I use this particular protein. Basically what this leaves me with is about 10 lbs of protein I can no longer use.

If anyone is local and would like to pick up some protein real cheap let me know. That or if anyone just wants to pay for shipping, and just a little something to cover my loss I will ship it off.

Secondly here is a very good deal I found on MusclePharm Combat Protein powder, it just passed the "Best By Date 3/30/2016" so it is on sale for 49.99 for 10 lbs at Nutraplanet. Hard to beat that deal and I already know I like the protein and it agrees with my GI tract.

Anyway if anyone is interested in some Vanilla IMPACT Protein Blend from MyProtein just let me know and I will work something out with you. I don't want to end up wasting it.

Every guy wants to look like brad pitt from fight club... and then they want to get big... brad pitt in troy... and then they want to be HHYYUUGGGGEEE. its the natural order of things haha

I enjoy Muscle Pharm, love 'BirthdayCake' flavor.

No doubt, this is what I told him.
Yes Sir!

Yeah I had a couple shakes of a buddy of mines and enjoyed them.

So I got in a little full body action last night. Hit everything for 4 sets of 12

Squats 275x12, 12, 12, 12

Bench 225x12, 12, 12, 12

Rows 205x12, 12, 12, 12

Quad Set
Curls 65x12, 12, 12, 12
OH Triceps Extension - 75x12, 12, 12, 12
Band Side Raises x 15, 15, 15, 15
Band Pull Aparts x25, 25, 25, 25

Lots of blood in everything!!!!!

I put my training sled together afterwards and will be able to play with it tonight! I used my new roller and holy crap that thing is a beast! It is hard as nails and digs in really well, even on the thick areas of my back. So much better than my old foam roller! It is quite attractive too. I am going to have to put my name on it because if I let it sit anywhere for a second someone will steal it. I will take a picture of it it has a black and gray leather wrapping so it looks sexy!

I wanted to update that I ended up lowering a lot of my doses of things to make them last longer. I am only taking 2 doses of the TriAndro instead of 3 now, and am only using 50mg of Trest a day. My TRT dose is up at 200mg a week right now too. I am still running the EP15TANE at 30mg a day for right now. However I may bump it up when I run out of trest. Even though this makes this a far less aggressive run, it feels better and will be better for my health too. I am taking 10mg of GHAR1NE at night now as well, and have noticed I am holding some more water now.

I am not really dropping much of any weight and am going to have to make an adjustment to my diet. I just keep filling out and getting a little leaner. I want to kick up the fat loss a notch. Probably add in some more cardio or swap out to a lower carb plan with some refeed days.

Subbed on this, didn't know you had a log bro.

Glad to have you brother! In the middle of a deload, my knees and elbows were bitching at me. Will be back to hitting some heavier lifts this coming week.

Yah i've got some reading to do on this log, to get caught up where your at :) Good luck bro.

That sled is gonna kick it up a notch, guaranteed!!

That is what I am counting on, and should really bring up my hammies. Have you noticed your hamstring or glute ham tie in improving at all?

Nothing in terms of visible changes. But definitely feel them screaming at me during, and good Ham DOMS the day after. So it will come around. I am only 4 Sled sessions back into it. I do feel like my Squats today were very strong, controlled and easy, perhaps from added Ham strength.

Yes and the sled is a great way to get in a lot of extra volume for legs without tearing the muscle down bad. Since there are no eccentric contractions the actual muscle damage is much less but you still get a training and growth stimulus. Also you may want to incorporate some heavier sled work in the 20-50 yard range to really get some extra oomph in them.

You want a Glute Ham Tie! GHRs all the way!!! ;)

No doubt, I have never had a membership to a place with a GHR stand / machine but the times I have used one it was pretty brutal.

How is the Combat Powder - Cookies n Cream flavor, its always on sale at Costco up here

The Combat protein ones I have had before were very good. I am sure the vanilla will be also. Still waiting on it. I didn't order it until yesterday so probably another week before I get it. However all Cookies and Cream end up tasting like a mix of chocolate and vanilla shakes to me. I think if you like cookies and cream you will like Combats version.

Took the new sled out for a spin last night to get in some conditioning. Man that thing is a challenge and you feel alpha when you are doing it. I had some fun once I got warmed up and had my daughter hop on top of a 45 plate and ride while I sprinted, or tried sprinting up and down the driveway.

One round trip from where we were was 40 yards.

Sled + 45 lbs - 4 rounds
Sled + 90 lbs - 4 rounds
Sled + 45 lbs and my daughter - 4 rounds - She is a lady so I won't reveal her weight. However she is 12 so it is obviously an increase. ;)
Sled + 45 lbs 4 rounds to finish.

Trinity wanted to get in on it and pushed 2 rounds with a 45 on there. Man was she digging on the way back. I made her stop so she didn't hurt her hip. Girl has some heart! :) Pretty impressive when you consider the sled weighs 80 lbs by itself.

Well it was my first time using a legit sled especially pushing one. I really liked the stimulation it gave me. My chest, shoulders and triceps all had a pump when I was done which was pretty cool. Surprised my triceps and biceps are a little sore right now from the workout Tuesday.

I am having a hard time telling what my body is doing right now. I look huge and leaner one day then end up with a severely distended stomach out of nowhere. Not sure why I have been dealing with gastric distress lately but it sucks. Seems like I always have food sitting right up against my esophagus just applying pressure and keeping me feeling full and like I might get sick. Either way with the stomach distended it is hard to tell if things are going in the direction I want without seeing some obvious ab definition. I am used to seeing myself thin out more in the waist but the distention is keeping my waist thick. Looking at my diet I might end up cutting carbs lower and doing 1 high carb meal, and one reasonable free meal a week.

I know exactly what your talking about with the weird off days, I ended up picking some GutHealth from EvoMuse that has help out a ton. Might be something to look into. Something like SlinSane or Slintensity theres a few more out their also can't remember the names off hand but she also help out on the bigger carb meals to keep the distending down. just a thought after reading this.

Chris, I could literally repeat the last 2 paragraphs for my current situation. The sled definitely gives me a pump in more than just the legs and cardio.

And I feel the same way body-wise. Cutting carbs as of today down to around 100/day from 200-250. Tuesdays will be my free-days instead of a weekend when I don't train.

I love GDA's, although this is a different type of distention than from carb consumption. I am starting to wonder if the Nexium I have been taking to combat GERD is possibly cutting my stomach acid down so low that I am having issues digesting. I might cut it over to 1 EOD and see how that goes. Will probably order some Gut Health if that doesn't clear things up.

Oh man you are about to go to shred town!

Thinking I may lock macros down in this range.
Protein 225
Fat 125
Carbs = trace carbs from nuts, veggies, avocados, hard cheeses, protein powder + 2 servings of blueberry or grapefruit daily
Peri Workout Carbs - 50 grams

That should also put my carbs in the 75-100g a day range if 100 that would put me at 2425 calories on non training days and 2625 on training days. I should be in a decent deficit there and cut up even with the carb day and free meal.

Then do a 150-200g carb refeed Wednesday and a free meal over the weekend. Sunday was traditionally family breakfast day then we kind of stopped doing it. My daughter just said she missed it and wanted to start doing it again. So I need a meal for that day. :) This dietary plan will be pretty strict compared to how relaxed I have been about dieting but I think I need that definitive structure and some faster results to get my motivation up even further to dig into this cut for the long haul.

I'm a bit higher calorie total because I'm trying to hit 250 pro and 175 fat in place of the carbs.

I'm shooting for 2600 net cals after exercise. So approx 3200 total.

Yeah and 3200 total cals would be a bulk for me.

When I was little my favorite meal was my dad's biscuits and gravy w sausages and apple juice on a Saturday morning with the fam. He did it probably every other weekend for a long time because I would always beg for it.

I had this issue with Nexium and Prilosec and one with an L i can't remember off hand. Currently and have been for awhile now is Dexilant (dexlansoprazole 60mg) it might be something to look into. It's a time release product and has helped a ton. Actually had to go to a specialist because the acid was burning my thoat so much it was causing tissue to form and blocking my airway. It was had to breath at that point.

Man that sounds amazing! My Mom used to make ground sausage then use the oil to make pepper gravy and miz the sausage into that and poor it over some open faced biscuits. Man that was awesome. No wonder I had issues having a belly!

My wife is on dexilant. Our insurance had a fit when the Dr put her on it. I will have to talk to the doc and see if they can get me approved for it. With the prilosec and Nexium causing issues digesting I can't be borderline miserable due to stomach issues all the time.

Last night I did a push workout on the machine, and just had some fun. I didn't track reps, just worked up the stack, went to about 2 reps before failure on every set regardless of weight. I was doing slow negatives with "intentions" on everything yesterday too.

Flat Chest Press x8 sets

Seated Military Press x 6 sets

1 Arm Overhead DB Triceps Extension x 4 sets

Push Ups x 4 sets

External Rotation - with band x 4 sets

The pump I had yesterday was ridiculous. I filled up so fast and looked massive within the first few sets of chest press! By the end everything was just big, my triceps barely moved when I flexed them they were so full of blood.

I made some home made chili with 93/7 turkey last night. Has some beans but not a lot, I can have a couple bowls without going over my carbs for the day which is awesome. I will be making some white chicken chili this weekend too. These are just easy meals that I know the macros per cup / serving, they keep me pretty low carb, give a little fiber and plenty flavor. Will be keeping carbs in that 100g range until Sunday then having our big Sunday Breakfast. I will be making pancakes, bacon, and eggs for sure. Maybe I will do a sled session Sunday morning then cook breakfast! :) Give it all somewhere to go.

White chili is epic... I may enjoy it more than regular chili actually.

Yeah when it is made right it is awesome. I normally use all breast but will drop a few thighs in there to increase fat content this time.

Holy crap I am sore in so many places right now. My pecs are thrashed, triceps and shoulders have mild DOMS. My calves and hamstrings are sore from the sled work. This is my deload week. LOL The added volume definitely put the soreness factor up a bit higher. My shoulder continues to bother me so I will be making some training adjustments as well as adding in 1000-1500mg of Turmeric standardized for 95% curciminoids for the inflammation.

Last night was a repeat of the workout style from the day before just with pulling movements instead of pushing. In other words I worked up the stack taking reps to about 2 shy of failure no matter what weight.

WG Lat Pull Down - 6 sets

Reverse Grip Lat Pull Down - 4 sets

Pronated Grip Cable Row - 4 sets

Reverse Grip Cable Rows - 4 sets

Superset 1 x 4 sets
Barbell Curls
Band Pull Aparts

Super Set 2 x 3 sets
DB Supinating Curls
Band Pull Aparts - supine grip

I was looking huge by the end of this, was feeling good about it. The veins in my arms were like ropes and the ones on my biceps are starting to split off of the main biceps vein.

Also I forgot to mention the other day I took a flexed measurement when pumped and my biceps are up almost a 1/4 inch while being leaner. So that is always a good sign.

I started putting Turmeric in all my rubs for meats.. wow does it bring out flavour. I know that isnt what you are using it for, but just thowing it out there

There are researchers trying to figure out why dementia and Alzheimer's is drastically lower in India. They believe turmeric is partly responsible since it is a staple spice on Indian tables.

Yeah i heard tumeric is like super spice. Fights inflammation and cancer and all that

Doesnt help me much that i just dont like the taste of it or how it stains everything it touches yellow lol

What they make gel-capped high % extract pills for! Pop em w a meal and g2g. Cheap stuff too

This, and for those who have a lot of stomach issues turmeric is supposed to be a godsend for stomach issues. Calms the nerves in the digestive track really lowers the inflammation in the bowels, just amazing stuff and the high extract is just as effective for inflammation as ibuprofen without the problems.

Okay so leg workout this weekend followed the exact same style of lifting. Just a few reps shy of failure on every set, getting the work in and adding volume.

Heroes Warm Up x3

Single Leg Press - 340 x 8 sets

Super Set
Leg Extensions - 5 sets
Toe Touches - x20 x 5 sets

Split Jumps - x10 x 5 sets
Body Weight - 2 second Pause Squats x10 x 5 sets

Sled Push 180lbs x 50 yards x 5 sets

Everything is feeling pretty good right now except for my shoulder. Still going to have to work around it. Feels a little like I may have torn a lil spot on my labrum again. We will see. Like I said the training will look a bit different for a bit. I was experiencing less injury when training more like an athlete and not focusing on optimizing specific movements. So going back to that more and will just keep squats, bench and Deads showing up more frequently. It may not be the OPTIMUM training for a powerlifter, but if the repetitive stress of training like one is hampering my ability to train intensley on a regular basis due to aggravating old injuries then I will get stronger training like an athlete and staying healthy. I want to be able to do my first PL meet this year and if constantly dealing with injury BS that won't happen. I was still making pretty steady strength gains in the big 3 training this way before, so I think it will be good.

I think you guys will enjoy the variety coming into these workouts, I know I will.

So I can say my stomach finally responded and the girth of my waist has dropped pretty good this week. Not exactly how I was hoping this run would go, needing a deload in the middle and all, but things are starting to come together. The severe distension I had last week is starting to go down and it is really helping with how I look in clothes. Some people who hadn't seen me in a bit mentioned I looked much bigger when I saw them this weekend.

Haven't done single leg presses in FOREVER!

how have you been liking them?

BeastFitness I love them, it is hard to remind myself to do them. Not really an ego satisfying move. LOL

I like to do them the way that B-Pak does them trying to pull the foot down on the platform toward the floor so it really activates the glutes and hams. I basically swapped from that method to a low foot placement to hit the quads more each set. I was definitely feeling them the next day. It is nice to get a new stimulation like that for sure. I will do them more now though since I have the leg press machine and it only goes up to 440 so single legs will be the main lift there unless doing really high reps.

LOVE every single video of BPAK….the mental pictures he paints has helped so many learn how to create tension where they want it and not just move weight…AWESOME dude…wish we had more youtube videos out though

I went to a church BBQ yesterday at a transition house here in town and saw alot of people i hadnt seen in a couple months and all i heard the whole time was how huge i was. Its nice to know that your results are there. Seeing yourself in the mirror every day makes it hard sometimes to judge how far you've come. These little reminders are nice sometimes.

Yes he changed the way I trained a lot. I have done both of the MI40 workouts and turned a lot of people onto them. Now training a little more athletic I have not done his type of training in a bit but if this shoulder doesn't square away in a little while I will end up shifting from trying to do a meet to trying to do a Physique or Classic Bodybuilding contest. I need to find something to set my sites on that had a deadline.

Yes indeed, and especially when you're feeling like you should be in a much better place physique wise. I don't know about you but since I have been a "big" guy and into lifting all my life, any time I gain fat, or look smaller someone has to make the comment to make them feel better about themselves.

"Oh hey what happened man? You are getting a belly! HaHa!" or "Man you quit working out?" sometimes it really annoys me and I tell them I am trying to be more like them. Take that dick head! :)

It is a shame how people revel in other peoples weak moments trying to make themselves feel stronger...

So when people take the time to make the positive comments it is really nice to hear.

It is a shame how people revel in other peoples weak moments trying to make themselves feel stronger...

So when people take the time to make the positive comments it is really nice to hear.

Yeah thats frustrating for sure. Last year i was 185 and ended up having to take a little bit off from crossfit and was just lifting instead and eating a TON and got kinda chunky. I shot up to 215 and i gained alot of muscle too but gained some fat too. And because my 6 pack was gone i couldnt stop hearing how fat i got. They werent nice about it either lol. I had to remind a couple people that me having a 6 pack isnt related to my ability to smash them out. But its seriously frustrating when you're in good shape most of your life that you cant slip a little bit and gain a little fat without hearing about it ALL THE TIME

It is annoying and hard not to hit them where their insecurities lie just to let them have a taste.
Them "Wow, I guess you aren't dieting anymore huh?"
Me " I guess you decided not to leave your wife for cheating on you..."

TOO MUCH?!?!?!? :)

What do you think aggravated the shoulder?

herderdude - When I was in Cali a couple weeks ago I went to Muscle Beach to lift. I worked up to a few sets of 315 for doubles, the last set my right glute cramped up and turned my body sideways in the middle of the rep. It knocked the bar off balance to my right side pretty bad. Of course the effort to catch the weight before it crashed to my chest and get it back up after that just tweaked the shoulder pretty good.

One of those Damn It should have had a spotter moments. I knew I could handle 315 so wasn't worried about it but that cramp changed that real quick.

That sucks, man. I very rarely take a weight that I'm not sure I'll hit, but I still call on spotters fairly often. Not as often as I should, so I get you there.

Perhaps it's time to break out the slingshot for the rehab process?
