When I have a sh**ty day like that, a huge cheat meal and a 2hour workout "sometimes" can make the day better. Today is a new day.

No doubt and the workout would have really helped a lot but it was Homecoming for my daughter so I made sure I made the evening about her day and not mine.

Thanks, nice to hear it wasn't just weakness rearing it's head. My daughter is such an awesome person. She heard me going off about something that frustrated me and when I apologized to her for showing that weakness she told me "Showing weakness is strength Daddy, and admitting it was weakness is even stronger."

WOW, I must have done something right to have such an insightful daughter.

Indeed, she is quite the mini-me.

SO going to attempt some food porn but I got a bit too hungry and killed the first half as soon as I made it! Shown below 1/3 lb 93/7 beef patty. The other half that you can see the remnants of below was an everything bagle smeared with the Fiery Chipotle Hummus. Man that stuff is good! If you like spicy and hummus then you will likely love this stuff. Also good with rice and ground beef!!!!

I was thinking of you and your journey of kicking the herb to the curb.

Something I did in the past when dropping a habit was this, if I got the urge to say...smoke a cigarette....drop and do 25 pushups....its good for you and usually would take my mind off the habit

Good stuff! Yesterday let me know how serious I was about it. My wife even offered for me to go get one of her anxiety meds to help and I was like No, not replacing this with another drug. The idea of smoking something was simply not an option which tell me that my mind is made up, and I am simply done.

However I do like the push up idea, but if I do that gotta add 25 body weight squats, can't get all Johnny Bravo just because I quit smoking. :)

Touche! Okay, okay I am always an opinionated ass hat but normally it is my wife's ass I am wearing as a hat so no complaints there... :)

Honestly I don't think I have ever really had too many things negative to respond to you about. We agree on most things and enjoy debating over the other 1-2%. We always keep things respectful in those debates though.

For me it is because I feel sorry for you for always being wrong and I feel I have to be kind...

Yesterday was the first day of the actual anxiety, stress and just being very on edge. I lost my temper a few times which I am not proud of but it is what it is. I just have to try to do better. My frustration levels just seem to be like a river that is always about to crest and send a flash flood of emotion raging through whatever is nearby. That and a lot of things just not going my way yesterday made it a very hard day. I would have much rather have spent the day at work than taking off to deal with the nonsense from yesterday.

I was trying to go through the internal wall to my pipe so I didn't have to remove brick and deal with all of that and found out that the contractors didn't tile under my dishwasher as instructed but instead tiled right up to the adjusting feet so I couldn't even turn them to remove my dishwasher to go through the sheet rock behind. Then the contractor tried to tell me he wasn't going to fix it and I had to threaten going to the BBB and blasting him on all of his social media with bad reviews. So he told me to go ahead and break the tile out and get the dishwasher out and he wold get someone over as soon as he could to do the tile. Not willing to do that until I know how long it will be for him to get someone over. Not gonna have to stare at that while in the mood...

The people who came to fix my washing machine started taking it apart to put some replacement parts before checking to see if he had the replacement parts and the removal made it to where we couldn't even get it back together in a functioning manner. SO we have to do laundry at a laundromat this weekend if we want to have clean close. My daughter forgot some stuff so i had to run that up to her at school then she called to have me pick her up because she missed the bus due to performing at the pep rally... With all of that I didn't get the bricks mortared back in yesterday. So yep, yesterday was a true test... I feel like I failed except I didn't because I didn't go get a bag.

Tonight I am going to go get a quick lift in and then go see a friend I haven't seen in a couple years for his birthday. So that should be nice. I think I am probably just going to do shoulders and arms tonight, and then hit lower body tomorrow.
Those days are frustrating, but sometimes you can allow yourself to feel good too - you took a huge workload, a day full of problems, and you friggin' handled it. You know as well as anyone, you start off with a certain weight for a certain workload and over time you adjust to handle more - but you NEED those workloads that you almost can't handle in order to be able to improve and handle it next time.

It isn't just the gym, it is all of life. Days like that increase your work capacity. You adapt and improve. You should feel good about it, not bad.

As far as the feet - this won't be easy, but it MAY work - can you take a flat tip screw driver and a hammer and turn the feet very slowly by putting the tip of the screwdriver on the left side of the foot, and then tapping it with the hammer to get it to spin? You may have thought of this already...

As far as the debating, you are correct - I was just pulling your leg. Honestly, I didn't know how to convey the joking over the internet so I almost deleted it, but even in your withdrawl I knew you could take it...anyone else on this board other than you and hairygrandpa I may have just deleted it.

As far as the bold, you know what they say. If you ever feel like you are wasting your time arguing with a complete moron, first make sure the other party isn't doing the same thing. :)

Yep, it was a good workout for reintroducing myself to my natural coping mechanisms. DOMS were immediate but I already feel some growth. It felt like a fail in the middle but it was a win and growth. Kind of like training where the goal is pushing the limits most of the time what feels like failure like a missed rep is what drives the real growth if you don't let it defeat you.

You would think so but then again, I could never pass the rigorous adoption process and she is not from a 3rd world country so that is pretty impossible.

Stay Strong !!

Life Is Good !!
Thanks @Rocket3015 going strong, 1 week down, had a few moments where frustration got the better of me but nothing like the first day. I got this! Probably get a bit harder on the dealing with thing s before it is over but the desire to smoke is simply not there. It's like a transformation challenge when I finally decide to put the hammer down chit happens!

Dreams have been downright insane since I quit, my mind races while I sleep. Not bad dreams either, but very interesting and very vivid. However last night I didn't sleep well. I fell asleep around 11:30 and woke up at 2:30 AM to go the the restroom and my mind was racing. I couldn't get back to sleep but for a while so I just laid in bet trying to rest. Then I got up to go to the gym once I knew the it would be opening in about an hour.

I tried picking up one of my older workouts and boy oh boy did it kick my ass!!!! I think just a touch more volume than I should have done for something I am going to do two pull and 2 push workouts a week. Going to pair it down since this gym doesn't open until 5:00AM it didn't give me any time for activation stuff just a general workout and I would just feel better about getting all of my activation stuff in.

The goal was RPE7 on the straight sets and MYO Reps but I ended up overshooting due to the very short rest periods I had to take in order to get everything done. I literally walked in the door a couple minutes after the final alarm to wake up went off.

187007

Pace was about 60 seconds rest give or take 15 seconds on either end. You can tell by the quickly dropping rep numbers. If you don't know what myo reps are they are doing the initial set to about an RPE8 then follow up 10 seconds later to an RPE8 and so on until the reps are low and you push to an RPE10.

Preacher Curls - Were don on Hammer Strength - I saw 4 plates on it and wanted to see if I could even move it after the rest of what I had done. I did one 180lbs, 5 with 135 then went for reps on the Oly barbell.

I will most likely try to keep the top to bottom pull and push workouts but only 1 exercise for the heavier days, then maybe 2 on the lighter days which will most likely have some super sets in them. Probably stick to 3 a week and either roll on through, or maybe just make the 3rd workout a strength day with longer rest periods on the weekend and just do either the big 3, or replace bench with Overhead press since I can do that better right now.

I intend to go in tomorrow and do some mobility / activation stuff, maybe some explosive work then probably finish it out with some HIIT or 30 minutes LISS. If get 2 of those days and 3 lifts a week I should see some rapid results.

Yes Sir!

Had a bit of the wind taken out of my sales the last two days with a lot going on at home. Even though I had to take the day off both days I was not able to get to the gym as planned. After all the trouble with the dishwasher I opted to call a plumber out because when I was turning the water to the house back off I noticed that the valve and the riser pipe coming into the house were leaking. There was also some water at the bottom of the brick wall by the kitchen sink that I noticed when looking at the spigot. I thought maybe it was coming from the back of the pipe there but it was from the drain somewhere inside the wall as well.

We decided to replace the dishwasher since it was easily over 20 years old and it was going to be a lot cheaper to cut a hole in the interior wall than it was going to be to go through the brick. So I just had him cut the adjustable feet off of the dishwasher so we could pull it out where the tile was butted up against it. When we pulled it out we found black mold on the wall there behind it where a drain had been running the water down and the sheet rock had wicked it up. So lucky me I still had some glasses, gloves, mold killer and face masks around from the flood damage and I told him let me pull all of that out to save myself the money. I sent him to do the main water riser while I attacked the area cleaning it all up and went and got some Wonder board to replace it with and did all of that work once he replaced a section of the copper piping that went to the spigot outside. So we finish all of that and he is working on the other leak in the drain pipe and apparently tried to take a shortcut on the fix. When we got to test and see if it is still leaking @ 8:30PM Tuesday it is not only leaking but about 5 times worse than it was originally. That is when he told me he was trying to save me money by doing it however he had tried but it obviously didn't work so i had to take a 2nd day off of work for him to come back and do the damn thing right. You all will be happy to know I kept my cool through all of this.
Day 2, he comes over and they bumped the quote up by another $600, had my balls in a vice, what am I gonna do I can't use the plumbing in my kitchen at this point, and have no idea how to fix the drain they were working on. I wasn't able to leave this guy in my house, he seemed a little shady so I couldn't get to the gym and had a full night of parenting ahead of me driving people to appointments and such... SO there was just now way for me to get to the gym. I was pretty frustrated about not being able to go but the things I needed to deal with for the family were more of a priority so it is what it is.

SO second day he tells me since I got a new dishwasher he has to charge me their ridiculous price as a new dishwasher installation. Which obviously is a rip off because they removed a dishwasher putting a new one in is the same work. Then tells me he will do it for $50 off the books. I didn't want to spend the time doing it so I took him up on it. He does the install turns the power on and the lights and stuff come on. I give him the 50 but then as he is going to leave I realize hey we need to run it, make sure it fills with water and drains. We go to run it and it immediately makes a few tones and the light starts flashing. Now he has already told his boss he is about done and going to collect the money. I told him he had to fix whatever was going on or simply give me my money back and I would figure it out on my own.

He starts to try to justify that he did the install and if it wasn't working it wasn't his fault. Leading on like he wasn't going to pay me. We are discussing it and I tell him I am not trying to be a d*ck here but you had to hook up a dishwasher back up regardless. You did no extra work, and I was okay with you working an angle to get some extra cash but you aren't leaving me here without a working dishwasher and my money... He tells me if I will have to pay you back I have to leave to go get the money. I said no problem, go get it and when you come back and give me my cash I will pay your invoice. If not I guess we will have to discuss this with your company since you are stealing from them by doing this work. I can feel my temper starting to flare up. Sudden shot of adrenaline dumps. Almost as soon as I feel it my sweet sweet boy Wraith who never growls at anyone is on the other side of the sliding door starts growling through the door and pushing on it like he wants to get in the room. The pocket door was literally vibrating from his low growl and he started pawing at it to get it to slide open. I said, well go get my cash now or I am opening this door. All of the sudden he pulls out his wallet and magically has the money right there. I said I thought you had to go get it, just trying to rip me off huh... Told him to get out of my house and when he was about 3 feet from the door kind of glaring at me. I knew he could get out in time, so I slid the door open and Wraith comes barreling through and runs to just in front of me with a loud bark but stops there. Dude runs to his car not even looking back... He left a company work shirt on his way out... LOL

Kind of cool he was able to read the situation from the other side of the door. No voices raised or anything. Must have smelled the adrenaline dump or something. Whatever it was he knew things had gone sour and wanted to be in there with me to me to protect me. He didn't stop growling until the guy was halfway down the driveway. So guess who ate a big chicken breast for dinner last night... YEP! Wraith did!

Anyway I know it was a long story but I hope you enjoyed it. Was nice to know that Wraith is protective and able to read the difference between just a stranger, and a bad situation.

Tonight will be a push workout, my knee is feeling a little stiff. Gonna warm it up nice and easy and try to do some work on the lever machine or leg pressing for leg portion since easier to control the knee tracking with those than with a free weight squat. I also plan to do a big 3 type of workout Saturday probably a 5x5 for deads and pressing but not Barbell bench. Maybe Decline, or hammer. If not then will do OHP instead. Squats will just depend on how everything is feeling.

135lb preacher curls? Wtf even is that??
Well it's a machine where you do bicep curls but over a 45 degree surface to isolate the... ;)

Haha, thanks i love that hammer strength machine, but it is not the same as doing 135 preachers with a barbell, or I wouldn't think so anyway.

I know right!!!!
My first contractor was actually pretty good at the work just underbid severely which was good for me and bad for him but made me miserable with always trying to finagle more from me. The second was the guy actually doing the work little did I know the only reason he was doing good work was that the GC rode him to make sure the job was done well and keep him honest. Live and learn. Still, so many people here got totally screwed after the hurricane. I know a few people who got taken for 10's of thousands so thank goodness I only ended up with a couple losers... you get what you pay for.

Which is why this time I used 1800 Plumber, they had good reviews and everything... I figured no rock bottom prices, just s lightly better quote than the others, I should be good to go... just can't win for losing when it comes to that...
He could smell the slime on that guy and your test/fury excretions. He knew what comes next....
Good boy!
Damn straight!

I wanted to punch my computer screen reading that story. I hate that type of thing. And plumbing is a b*tch. I can do it, but I'd rather even drywall or something (another crappy job). So a plumber trying to screw someone...guess you found a trigger.

Did I mention I had / still have some drywall work to do where the holes were cut. At least it is inside of lower cabinetry so does not have to be perfect but also very hard to get to for someone whose shoulder hang over the sides of a truck seat...

I know that's right. Oh my he was so adorable when he was a baby. Still is and such a lover.

I did an upper body push session last night, was just winging it. I did a good bit of volume and worked up to some higher RPE's in rep ranges from 15 down to about 8 even lower a couple times @ RPE10 or fail, anything under 8 reps was either RPE10 or failure coming early.

Life Fitness Decline Press (Like hammer strength) 140x20, 180x15, 220x15, 270x12, 320x6, 270x8@8, 270x8@8, 270x7@9
- The 320 was okay strength wise I could have got another 2, but felt a little unstable on my rotator cuff, dropped back down and did 270 x8.

High Incline Converging Press machine - 3 sets @ 180 RPE8, 8 and 9, rep range 12 down to 8 reps

SHoulder Press Machine 145x RPE8, 8, 9

Lateral Raise machine 110x fail, 90x fail, 50x fail x 2 sets

Super Set
Peck Fly Machine - 140x15 @RPE8, & 13@9, 110x 12-15@RPE8, 10-12@9
Rear Delt Fly Machine 140x12, 12, 110x10, 9, 8, 7

DB Lying Cross Body Triceps Extensions 30x10, 35x8, 8, 7, 4

DB Overhead Extensions 100x10, 75x15, 75x 13, 75x9

DB Low End Partial Side Raises - 70x20, 70x15ish, 70x9
couldn't barely move them at this point.

Had some wildly unpleasant dreams last night, was in a rage in my sleep over some of them and woke up clenching my fist, breathing heavily, and heart racing from them. When I went back to sleep they would come right back. Wen the 4AM alarm went off I was happy to get out of bed so I wouldn't have to go back into that dream even though I didn't fall asleep until about midnight. I got up and started driving to the gym when the car lost almost all power halfway there. The battery was drained and the car did not throw a light until it just stopped running. Well this morning anyway. My wife mentioned she saw a light come on the other day on the way home, but it wasn't on this morning when I started the car. Once it started acting up the battery and brake light came on. I was going to try to get back home but it died before i could even turn around. So now I have to replace the alternator. Like I needed another expense...

Oh well you all know what Dory would do in this situation right?

Got some work in this weekend on the house to complete a few more things before having an appraiser come out to give us a new home value so we can refinance soon and get out from under the home improvement loans. Didn't get time to lift in other than Friday night, I got in some lower body, but that's okay.

I got up this morning and went in for some cardio, going to get the old heart in shape. Leaning up a little might be nice too. The CBD has actually kept my appetite up a lot unlike previous times that I quit. So not getting the leaning effect I normally have.

Cardio Cross trainer - 30 minutes 387 calories @ 210 lbs. Had to leave gym a little early to go to the store and pick up a few things so didn't mess with core or any mobility today but will plan to do so one non training days.

I got myself a nice big rice cooker / steamer / slow cooker / pressure cooker combo last night at the store so going to go home and prep a bunch of rice for the week. Was only $40 due to the newer model coming out so I jumped on it. Contemplating starting to track intake a bit and may just start out at about 2800 calories and see where that leaves me. Not sure what current maintenance is.

I am weighing in at 210 as of this morning, but holding a little water from a bunch of carbs last night. My son brought us a big bag of M$M's someone gave him and after my rice at dinner I had the carb munchies and tore into them. LOL

I am contemplating something like HST, or going back into Fortitude training. I don't want it to be too complicated, and easy to follow so probably will end up going with HST, but the Fortitude Training allows a little more wiggle room for when I am having a rough shoulder day knee/hip day.

Pressure cooker is a godsend. Potatoes come out much more moist, rice is choreless, and steams veggies well too

Agreed, I used to have one but it bit the big one, never tried potatoes in there. Thanks for the idea!

So without recreating the entire wheel here I am going to revisit an older slightly modified version of the Fortitude Training that I set up for use in my garage which is a 10 day cycle with every other day training. If I feel that the frequency is a bit too much I will bump that down to a 3 day a week workout and just rotate through the sessions. However with lower volume, I am not expecting too have much of an issue.

I have this set up and printed out for the next 20 days and will keep it in a log book to track weights / reps and keep other notes and see where it takes me. After 2 cycles of this I will likely be ready for a deload of up to a week then will start right back up. Dr. Stevenson is pretty adamant about deloads having a major effect on progress with this type of training. So I will follow that part as I tend to push pretty hard anyway and have a very high ability to recruit a lot of muscle fibers in a very short workout. Plus I am already abused so one every 21 days or so sounds good. I might do something like hit up a Big 3 workout at the end of the 2 then do a deload depending on how I feel.

About to move into a deload myself. Last break before the meet taper!

Throw a cup of water into the cooker, toss the washed potatoes in, set the actual cook time to at least 9 minutes, and done! They don’t get so dry when you refrigerate them vs microwave or even oven-baked.

It will make Hard Boiled Eggs that the shells almost fall off of !!
Serious! Best cooking investment in a while. Ribs fell of the bone in 50 mins! I’ve been eyeing that cinder grill lately. Just so damn pricey.

Yeah the one I had before was pretty awesome until it gave up on me.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing I could make them in there but never tried with the one I had before.

Nice! Gonna toss a pork tenderloin in there tomorrow I think.

Had a great workout this morning, had to push things to get them done. I was in and out of the gym warm up included in 63 minutes.

Did a 5 minute general warm up then 5 minute dynamic warm up including TRX Alphabet, shoulder rolls and banded glute walks.

Workout notes: Weights on Upper Body are listed Per side, I underestimated how much I could shoulder press on the machine, basically the Life Fitness version of a Hammer Strength Shoulder press. I will start with 115 per side next session I do these in and if I top out the rep range in both sets will go up from there.

There are to be done in a circuit type fashion but the Decline Bench was in use so I superset the Pull Ups and Shoulder Press then did the Decline directly after. Not sure how this effected my weight used there. Having to keep things limited to where my right side fails as that is the side my rotator cuff is giving me trouble on.

The pump stuff for legs was supposed to go to failure on the 2nd set but I did not take the leg press or calve extensions to failure on the 2nd set I know I annihilated them compared to what they are used to and that will be more than enough to elicit growth. The hip thrusts kicked my ass on the 2nd set. I got my legs out a little further and and didn't go all the way down to the floor and it lit my glutes up!

@BOSSMAN Honestly contemplating putting up a new log. This one has been subpar for me the last couple years as I flailed about with all the distractions and what not. I think with all the life changes it might be time to change this too! Close the door on the old situation and just track the improvements from here on out. What ya think?

I dont know man. I say keep this one. Me personally when I find a log like this, I do go back and read for free knowledge.

But at the same time, I know how you feel.

How you you doing with the chronic?

I am it was 2 Sundays ago that smoked any, so 15-16 days with no smoking, head is starting to clear up a bit, moodiness still pops it's ugly head up a bit, but I am getting better with it.

You know the funny thing about my logs is that as much information as I put in others logs I have never really put tons of workout / nutrition info in my own unless starting a new program or something... I guess because it is hard to start conversations with, or give myself suggestions. :) I guess I can change that too though.

You are right might as well stay in this one, history is to be learned from, not forgotten. However I already had a nice and cheesy name for the new one. A KLEEN Start - Getting my focus back!
