Kabuki's "VIDEO" Log - a little crazy fun for everyone

I had to share this video with you

Old Max is a powerlifting legend around the internet.

I do give him credit, however...he puts more heart into it than most people. He has finally taken to correcting some of his gross technique flaws...which is a dman good thing as he will end up destroying his body doing that ****.

Here is a vid for you

that is incredible strong @ 220's bro. btw that first squat was a lower than parallel

geez kabuki , watched that for a second time. wow you are crazy strong .

Im sure you know what your doing so unless your getting ready for a bodybuilding competetion i wouldn't drop my weight much more, on the chase for the ab dragon, and would either keep weight there or if your like your new weight Id go up 10-15 lbs and not go any higher because you have the foundation for sure. squatting that much, Benching that much, and dead lifting that much.(or you could always gain weight and get even stronger, I doubt 99 % of people in the world have your strength at that body weight. Again motivational and makes me want to get stronger. also great form on the bench , elbows in...I messed up my left elbow and havnt done upper body in a couple months(beeen doign deads and legs) and just starting to start back a few exercises that dont hurt. After researching it could have been improper form ebows out, or just improper form on other exercises.Im pretty sure of this but would like your opinion You recommend elbows in for all pressing exercises?

what are your plans now?

working on any other goals beside power lifting/body stuff?

thanks guys.

just added the 850 squat to the vid.

This last weekends powerlfiting Meet

The meet itself was a blast, well judged, with a number of good catches by spotters to make a safe meet.

Jason Centoni the meet promoter did a fantastic job! He had good quality trophys instead of the usual plastic junky ones. In addition he had gift certificates to go along with all the trophys given out. That was a great change up from normal meets, in having something of value to take away! I was also very impressed with the personal touch that Jason added to each and every lifter that received a trophy when he recognized them. The meet moved very quickly and smoothly. The meet was over awards presented and everything cleaned up and the equipment loaded in my trailer before 5pm.

Results

After getting red lighted for most of my squats for depth at the last couple meets I changed up my stance to allow for more depth. At this meet I was told I was going too deep by the judges, and teammates. Photo’s verified this as well. Unfortunatly my camera had to be setup funny to get over the top of the crowd…but oh well.

For some reason the Bench was a little different than what I’m used to and it really made me struggle on keeping my butt planted. I ended up having to do a last minute change up in my setup that really hampered me but allowed me to get a couple good benches in. I ended up doing my opener about 4-5 times as I had to practice the different setups in the back till I found one that worked.

I cut water weight the for weigh ins and made 220 right on the nose. Recomped and showed up the next day at 230lbs.

Squat
760 good – using single ply ipf squatter
800 good
850 good – Changed to loose Canvas. grinder as I let one knee come in a hair in hole
900 miss – quick out of hole but lost balance at top of lift

Bench
500 good
550 good
600 miss

Deadlift
630 good
675 miss – bar whip caught me
675 good – damn easy
715 miss – bad setup with shoulders in front of bar

I totaled 2075 @ 220. I won Best Lifter and had the biggest lifts in the meet. I was happy with this total as leading up to the meet I had not been training heavy. With the weight loss none of my lifting gear fit and I had sold most of the gear I used to wear. Going into this meet I didn’t have any big plans and was just looking to keep in practice and have a good time. I was quite surprised to have retained all my strength after cutting 22lbs off in the last 3 months.

Other Stuff
They were close to not having a full power meet as the Monolift they had planned on using was sold. For some time I had been considering building a monolift of my own so I stepped up and built one for this meet. I also ended up supplying the bars and weights as well to the meet. This was difficult in finding the time to build it and I’m still lacking the space to hold it as its located in my driveway. Which makes for some classic training sessions ;) I did have a HUGELY positive response to the monolift design, features, and quality at the meet. I did a presentation at the end as I will be selling these lifts now. The presentation was recorded and I will get a video of it soon.

However with a Monolift in hand, as well as most everything else I need, I decided it was time to become a meet promoter myself. I have venues secured for two meets next year now. One on March 21st and the second on August 22nd. I only have to file the paperwork now.

In addition while I was at the meet I had the opportunity to spend some time with the head judge who was the state chairman for the APF/AAPF. We both come to the conclusion that it would be best if I took over this position as well. He will be endorsing me to take over his position, which should happen shortly.

wow what a post...

that is a huge deal buddy... congrats!!!! Looks like im flying out to compete!!!

Tuesday

Sled 115lbs x 14min

Do you have a homemade sled or did you buy one?
I’ve got two at home and 10 total at work between our two buildings. I wrote up some articles on sled pulling and convinced a bunch of people at work to do it. So out in the parking lot at lunch and breaks you will find several people pulling sleds.

I just did mine at lunch today with a couple other people.

We made them at work. One of mine at home I made myself before I got this all started at work.

Nice,
I am suppose to have some guy I work with weld one together for me but I think he is just bulls***ing me. Nice work at your meet by the way.

Nice work. It sounds like the cut was the right thing to do. Good luck with your venture into promoting. I don't know if I'd like that, but some guys I know really enjoy it in strongman.

Cool **** man. I haven't heard of someone switching suits mid flight and hitting a bigger number. If only I could find a mono to train in those meets next year look pretty enticing. Hell, it might be worth doing even if I have to walk out all my training weights. I might even have another AAPF/APF lifter in the 198s/200s interested in coming out as he will be going for a bunch of national and world records this year.

Did you use the same shirt you had at 242?

yep same shirt that fit me at 250+ bw. Need a new one as its pretty loose. Not being able to do my setup on that bench is what messed with me however.

I had only worn that canvas for 1 rep prior to the meet. I didn't seem to have any problem with retaining my form....i really had no idea how it would work but it was just a meet for fun for me.

you should do some of those meets if you can. that would be cool. BTW...I'll be competing at 198's next year. I'm hoping that with an actual training plan and getting my gear sized right i should hit 2200-2300 range.

here is that canvas.

Awesome vid there Kabuki. Have you gotten your JP8 yet? I just started mine and have great expectations. The taste really rocked me since I hadn't tried R4W or Ether. Keep up the great log btw, I still have yet to get my hands on one of those rolling wheels.

i did get it but not training hard this week following meet. so good week to run low on stims since i've been using every day to support weight loss.

Next week i'll add the jp8 to my routine:bb3:

Wow, that is huge on you, it looks more suited for someone with a really big FUPA.

Those meets might come at a perfect time. I plan on taking a month or so off after my December meet so it could be a good way to get back into things. For "fun" you did pretty well. 198? That's crazy

thank you sir.

20min stretching

I’m doing a lot of stretching over last several days working on widening my stance and being able to keep knees out. Pretty sure I’ve done to much as my hammies are tight and sore (probably a fair amount from sat workout). But even on Saturday I squealed like a little girl on my first warmup set of squats and GM’s when the tightness of my hammies surprised me.

I like that band resisted bench set up, I am going to give that a try tomorrow.

its great for correcting form mistakes on bench and developing the static strenght needed for heavy benches.

i highly recomend it for what your planning on doing.

if you can't hold it on chest its to much. bring your stomach up into the bar and hold it. its tough

Didn't touch floor at all on first half of each set!

 They definitely do. I've done standing BB military with bands, and it's brutal. Probably even worse with DBs.

yeah with the hook points right on the floor it just frys you shoulders immediatly. Think they are going to be a good addition to this training cycle.

Mental Toughness Day.

Told training partners we would train in downstairs AC room today....but changed my mind and decided the guys needed a fresh challenge.

104 degrees today and must have been 2-5 degrees hotter on the concrete slab behind my house...in the sun :)

- Heat Stroke - SSB Sponge Bob Box Squats
- band setup pulls an extra foot of tension out of bands

techique is not the best on last one...or ones prior for that matter:thefinger
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz5b_a7orNA"]YouTube - squat 5x2 w/45 sec rest[/ame]

Didn't increase weight or band tension but did finish all sets unlike failing on last set last time.

Good Mornings - Wide Stance Toes forward - Deep no belt
225x12
315x8x12

the second set was torture :)

GHR's
BW x30x15x15x15

got a video? of 8-11
From Monday here is the band resisted deads and the rack pulls.

Had a real rough time getting going this morning. Felt VERY sick. Probably heat and dehydration from yesterday….but felt better by 8:30 after the Recreate, Diesel Test, and L-tyrosine had kicked in.

Pulled early to avoid heat but it was already 74deg at 9am

Sled Pulling
115lbs x 15min – solid pace and no breaks

Had sweat dripping in my eyes sitting at my desk afterwards :)

My weight has stagnated this week. I hit a low of 221 morning weigh last weekend but been sitting at 224 most of the week which puts my BW during the day still only a few lbs shy of 230. And I would like to be around 215 by the meet in October so I can make the 198’s. I’m going to have to step it up. :(

How did the heat effect your strength? The AC went out at a gym I go to some times and the older guys (in their 40s) were hitting PRs like crazy. They thought the heat loosened them up. I hit a few myself.

my inner thighs that have been tight were loose.

However doing a taxing excercise like Band Resisted squats in the sun in 105+deg heat...in lifting gear doesn't make you feel strong.

Man I know what you mean when you have to work and you want more sleep the next day and felt beat up!

Dude with a rack pull like that your going to have one hell of an upper back with traps!(you already do lol)
