Journey to Elite

My goal for this meet is mainly just to hit my opener. If I get more, then that's great, but I know that expecting to do great isn't realistic right now considering how much time I missed.

Putting yourself in a great position mentally to be happy with the meet. Good stuff.

looks to me like you got about 20-30 more pounds. bar speed was pretty good.

the guy handing off to you sure is ugly...

11/23

Squat (Ace briefs and suit, straps up, Titanium wraps)
635x1 (opener)
665x1 (reverse mini bands, 2nd attempt)

Hypers/Donkey Raises
BW+45x3x15/400x3x15

Standing Cable Crunches
120x3x15

Squat training is now done. Body and mind need a break from heavy squats and I'm not going to get any stronger in the next 13 days. I'll be doing some light box squat work next week to keep blood flowing and to stay limber, but nothing strenuous at all. Definitely my best squat cycle so far and I'm exactly where I want to be right now.

Unilateral Hypers/Band Crunches (average)
2x10/2x20

Still feeling good albeit a little worn down. I've had a little more lethargy than usual and it's about time to shut it down. Probably will have to deviate from the plan of doing mock warmups this week and just get some blood flowing.

That sounds like a prudent plan. The warmup week is still heavy as F anyways.

I've spent most of the past week or so coaching in between my sets and it's helped me to stay sharp on the little things that get lost in the shuffle. This gives me a reason to shut it down a bit early. The hard part is to dial it back when I've been pushing so hard for the past two months.

Coaching makes you a much better athlete IMO. I've learned more about the sport of swimming as a coach than I ever did as a swimmer. It's a whole new perspective. I'm sure the same can be said for lifting

I completely agree. It really hones your ability to explain technique multiple ways since not everyone learns the same.

Deload week has begun for me
Oh the misery

I'm at the point where I don't even want to deload; I just plain don't want to lift until the meet. I've been pretty lethargic this week and I usually take mock warmups on bench and squat this week, but that's not happening this time.

I feel you Just make sure you eat and stay healthy and stretch and you will be fine. I'm done lifting now may go to the gym here and there to just not be stuck at home and talk to the teammates and stretch a bit

I still go up to the gym to help out the crew and train clients. I usually do my mobility and RC work during this time as well.

Finally woke up without feeling ultra lethargic today. Weight is in the high 220s and I'll be able to slosh off the weight easily.

About 24 hours from weigh ins and sitting ~225 from just reducing carbs. Haven't cut back on water or salt at all at this point.

Luckyy. What do you have to weigh to fill up your gear properly?

Lol I have no idea what I weigh, or what I'll lift. Works been trashing my back, so depending on how things feel Saturday I may be benching flat backed sans leg drive.

Gotta feel good to be getting back on the platform, though.

220 on the button. Slammed Karbolyn and BCAA with about 32oz of water. Letting that settle for 15-20 mins before actually eating.

Nice! And good call on waiting.

Ain't my first rodeo on cutting weight. I kept hearing all these people talk about going to IHOP afterwards not knowing the bomb that drops on the GI. Thanks, Steve. The bad part is over. The fun begins now.

I cut weight once in my life (tried out MMA for a short stint) and afterwards I tried to stuff my face with whatever I could get my hands on. BIG MISTAKE. Got so sick

I did that after my second cut (my first was just fasted cardio) and I felt like **** the whole day.

Good luck tomorrow!

(Not that you'll need it, boss man)

Rotisserie chicken, mac n cheese, a bag of sour worms, double cheeseburger, small turkey and cheese sandwich with chips and salsa, Subway, Pop Tarts, a couple of slices of pizza down. Weight is back up to slightly over 230 and pee is back to clear.
