Jim's Training to Become a Human Tank!

Merry Christmas everyone!
Recognize the true reason that we are all here, on earth, in the Universe.
Celebrate in style this year, make sure everyone know what it is about! Celebrate the birth of Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Forget all if fancy stuff you don't need. Give it to people that need it.

I'M sick of going into a store seeing bratty kid begging for outrageous gifts. Or how About those 6--12 year olds with tablets and iPhone, and they still beg for more.

Well, anyways, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

Worked out earlier today for conditioning.

Did some truck pulls.

First was my buddies F-150 for 25M.

Then his and mine chained together for 25M, 1 with a rope, 1 without.

My technique with the rope needs work, but I'll be doing this a lot more so it'll get better. I actually did better without it because I stayed lower.

Interesting, that the rope pulled you up. I like how every year on this very day, Bill Kaz says the exact same thing "You just have to get low and commit to the pain."

Well, without the rope I keep my hands on the ground like a bear crawl which keeps me low.

I'm just gonna have to get used to the rope I think.

It's another one of those events that I've never done before today, so it'll definitely get better.

I got a mild woody watching reruns today of wsm when Brian shaw was on.

I think it might have moved when mike Jenkins was on, but I'm not sure...

I'm watching it right now. It's weird to watch him knowing this was the last time he will ever compete.

Conviction. Merry Christmas, Jimbo Tank.

Very lackluster workout today. All of the weights were feeling heavy (even warmups), knees were bugging me a little bit and the bicep started hurting as I got closer to my work sets.

ME Squats

Warmup: Mashing VM, ITB, Add., LAX Ball Mash Glutes, Hip Flexor Stretch, Oly Wall Squat, work up to 225 x 5

Squats: + Oly Shoes 275 x 4, 315 x 4, -Oly Shoes + Knee Wraps 365 x 4

Wow, these are all way lower than my max and were slow and difficult. Even the 365 with knee wraps was hard, shut it down after this, absolutely pitiful. I had intended on using the wraps today and going upwards of 400# for 4 with squats, not even close.

Yoke Walk: 500 x 25', 550 x 25' (tried knee wraps at differing tightness for this, not a fan), 600 x 10' (used Ace Bandages to wrap over my sleeves, which actually worked really well at keeping them steady), 550 x 15'

Wanted to get an idea of how the yoke with wraps is gonna go, wasn't bad for the 550 (with ace bandages, knee wraps is a no go), 600 I just wasn't able to walk with. 550 was a friggin sprint though. Yoke is not a strong event for me, so I need to get better at it (read: I need to get stronger, period.)

a1. Lunges: 90 x 14, 90 x 10, BW x 16
a2. GHR: BW x 10 x 3

That was it, nothing felt right today. Everything was feeling heavy, hell, the empty f***in yoke felt heavy! Pushed through it anyway and got done what I could get done. Really not the way I wanted everything to work out. Yesterdays workout was a great one though, so at least there's that.

Headed down to MetroFlex Houston again tomorrow to work with some of the equipment for the contest (mostly as a test dummy for the guy who's holding the event). Figure I'll try to get some practice cleaning the fire hydrant so that I can press it in the medley.

NM found it. One I used was 165 so I was messing with 215. Nice freaking work Jim. I is impress with your increase in strength(bad day or not).

Edit: 500 empty! Holy ****! 700! ****!

Double edit: they have to on eliteFTS but I'm pretty sure it wasn't 300+ empty.

This stuff will probably help your low body movements at powerlifting comps. If you can lift and walk a 700lb yoke 5 feet you probably have some strong ****ing hips

I hope I go way farther than 5 feet lol.

This competition is gonna be waaay harder than the last one I did.

Good! We wanna see a STRONGman competition, not a freakin heavy-ish obstacle course! ;) Lol. You're gonna kill it.

I'm just gonna show up and compete.

Spoken like a true pro.

"We're just gonna go out there and give it 100% and let the chips fall where they may."

"It is what it is."

"The standard is the standard."

I'm thinking I strained my brachialis when that squat lift rolled down my back last Thursday.

Taking the week off, icing and resting to see if it gets better.

Get that healed up brother, rest, ice, mash, mobilize.

That's the plan, I've got 29 days until the competition, and then a 2.5 month break between that and TX Strongest (which I might not do).

Did some pressing today. Not too heavy, mostly because I couldn't. Cleaned the fire hydrant today, and pressed it just shy of lockout. It wasn't that bad considering the massive bicep pain it caused, I think I'll get it in competition. Assuming I press the log and DB, of course.

No press conference montage is complete without some Bobby Knight:

And I raise you...

I am a huge sixer fan and that conference is one of they most infamous press conferences ever. They just recently played it bc he is having his number retired this year. Brings back memories of a relevant sixers...

Rob, I don't care about basketball and that is STILL an infamous presser! Iverson is a boss.

Speed Deads.

Warm-up: Mashing around knee, LAX ball glutes, work up to 225.

DL: 255 x 2 x 12 @ 45 seconds rest between sets

DL Stance Box Squat: 225 x 5 x 2, 265 x5, 295 x 5, 315 x 5

a1. Pullups: Wide x 7, NG x 8, Chins x 9
a2. Facepulls: Black x 15 x 3

b1. Dead Hypers: 95 x 8, 115 x 8
b2. Ring Fallouts: BW x 10, BW x 12

All beltless today. I like the dead hypers, and will do them much heavier next time I do them. Ring fallouts are way harder than BB Rollouts. Also, I know I said I would rest but the ole bicep felt good and I just couldn't resist training.

Showed up today for some conditioning and my buddies were gonna do 100 stone 2 shoulder for NYE, the idea was to move a total of 20140 pounds in the workout. I didn't do it with all stones (because, that is a lot of stones lol) and ended with enough leg press to finish it out.

Stone 2 Shoulder:

124 x 2
150 x 98
180 x 5
215 x 1 (PR)

This was a big PR, the heaviest stone I've ever even lapped was a 230 in competition and I threw that 215 over my shoulder with just a little chalk, after doing over 100 reps with stones. I have video of 10 with the 150, 1 with the 180, and the final rep with the 214.

Then:

Leg Press: 315 x 5, 405 x 10

Easy, just to hit around my weight goal.

Total workout took a minute, we went through it all one after the other. Started off doing 1 or 2 at a time but hit the gas after the first 35 or so and started knocking them out 5+ at a time (I did a couple "sets" of 10 to speed it up).

Video will be posted when it finishes uploading.

Holy balls. I've done, like, multiple singles in the same day. Does that make me a strongman? :P That would blow donkey balls.

Lol. I'll let you know when I've become a strong man. Hopefully sometime soon.
