Jim's Powerlifting Training

Thanks all!

More than happy with the way everything turned out. Will be even better when everything else turns up too lol.

And also, did Admin just join in on my log?! :D

Ha! I've been doing work all weekend on the site and finally caught up...and joined some new convo's.

How much to join?

Well your always welcome in here, which I'm sure you know because it's your site lol.

holy moly that's ****ing awesome

Thanks. I'm really happy with how everything turned out.

I'll have to get back to you on that.

If it's the same location as their other meets (there's a few locations), you'll like the facility. The equipment is really nice and there's plenty of warmup space.

That sounds great, a lot better than the sauna we were in that one meet.

Did DE Bench before work today, didn't have a lot of time but got what I could.

Pin Press (comp grip, on chest, suspended from straps): 70kg x 3 x 9

a1. DB Bench: 80 x 5 x 2
a2. WG Lat Pulldown: 110 x 10 x 2

And that was it. Was even 5 minutes late to work. After this meet I'm going to have to rearrange my training so that I'm not doing a full session on Sunday since I can't regularly get up early enough to train like I'd want to before work on Sunday.

ME lower tomorrow, likely will be suspended GM for a triple then belt squats, RH, GHD, etc.

Hoping to have the J-cups Tuesday, and also have a monolift attachment coming that should arrive in 2 weeks or so.

Suspended SSB GM: 108kg x 3

Invalid Link Removed

Belt Squat: 250 x 5 x 4
GHD: BW x 13, 11, 8
RH: 100 x 18 x 2

Got a real good session in today. Belt squats pumped my legs up, they were hard. GHD felt good and hit the hammies hard, and the RH pumped my lower back up.

Feel good, but the pump is real.

Suspended Bench (from chest, comp. grip): 110kg x 1
Drop 10%: 100kg x 3 x 2

Second set was easier.

a1. Swiss Cable Row: 130 x 12, 150 x 12
a2. Low Inc. DB bench: 65 x 10, 70 x 10

Cable Facepull: 40 x 25 x 2

Good workout today. Had a bit of a time crunch because I had some people buying some equipment today which ran into my usual training time a little.

Also, Swiss Bar cable attachment is the ****.

Arms tomorrow, probably some chesticles and shoulders too (5 exercises this week, probably)

242 dead press, isn't that like ten kilos off of your best meet bench or so? That's a good effort.

10# off my best meet bench.

20# off of my best in the gym (right before I hurt myself at TSM)

And it actually felt good enough to go a little higher, but I wanted to get the reps in as I was running short on time.
Nice work - you getting sweet pumps yet or what?
Yessir.

Especially on Leg day, the belt squat/GHD/RH was painful.

No lower back pumps yet either, haven't even had to use taurine. Really trying to stay up on my hydration so that I can keep it that way.

Upper Assistance

a1. Straight Bar Cable Curl (fat bar): 60 x 12, 11, 10
a2. V Bar Cable Pushdown (fat bar): 70 x 12, 60 x 15 x 2

b1. Push-ups: BW x 27, 24
b2. Lateral Raise: 20 x 15, 10

Rear Delt Pullapart: Red x 40 x 2

The pump.........

Still using Condense? How's it treating you? I may test it out once i finish this tub of White Rapids (it's like my 3rd-4th tub in a row so time for a switch).

I've always liked condense, and have used it off and on for years.

It's a mild stim so it depends on what you're looking for in a preworkout.

Enjoyable to drink, good pick me up, no crash, good pumps, and muscular endurance is always up.

Dynamic Lower

Comp. Squat: 115kg x 2 x 12

Comp. DL: 125kg x 1 x 8

Low Bar GM: 100kg x 6 x 2

Rev. Hyper: 100 x 18

HLR: BW x 8 x 2

Looked like dynamic should! What are you weighing and what weightclass are you competing at?

Right now I believe I'm sitting around 180. I will likely end up competing in the 198 class.

To be honest I'm not really keeping track of that all that much. Just trying to put up as big of a total as I can at whatever weight I end up weighing lol.

DE bench

Comp. Bench: 85kg x 3 x 9

Invalid Link Removed

CG Lilly Bench: 110kg x 2, 100kg x 3 x 2 (3 count pause)

a1. DB Bench: 80 x 8 x 2
a2. Neutral Grip Pullups (3rd handle): BW x 9 x 2

Rear Delt Pullapart: red x 40 x 2

Had some bicep pain today, did some banded hammer curls between sets which helped.

Really starting to feel this meet prep now. This may be the toughest meet prep I've had yet.

ME Lower

Deadlift: 180kg x 1

Invalid Link Removed

Pause Squat (comp. stance): 140kg x 2 x 5

Invalid Link Removed

Rev. Hyper: 100 x 15 x 2

Done. Serious session today, planning to hit some more assistance tomorrow (belt squat for reps, GHD, abs).

That 180kg matches what I hit at the last competition in 2014. I'm foreseeing my best total yet at this meet, even at a trim 180# lol.

Lower Accessory

Belt Squat: 180 x 12 x 2

GHR: BW x 10 x 2, BW x 9 (moving the footpad closer each set)

Standing Cable Crunch: 40 x 20, 50 x 20 x 2

ME Upper

Comp. Bench: 120kg x 1, 130kg x F

CG Bench: 100kg x 2, 110kg x 2 x 3

Cable Row (triangle handle): 130 x 8, 160 x 8 x 2

Facepull: 40 x 20, 50 x 20

Arms tomorrow. Matched a PR today with that 264# bench, felt easy but I didn't control the weight as well on the next set and was too tired to try again.

Sweet gym setup Jim. Very nice!

Woah! Who's this guy?!

Ain't heard from you in a while man, hope everything still going well.

Haha hey man. Yes good. Been busy with life and grad school. Have a good group of powerlifters I train with now and got away from the forum and a lot of other things to try and make good use of my time. Figured I needed to check back in and see how everyone was doing!

a1. Hammer Curl: 30 x 12 x 3
a2. Overhead Tri Ext: 50 x 12, 40 x 15 x 2

EZ Curl: 55 x 20, 17

Dips: BW x 12, 11

The pump is most definitely not like cumming.....

Ya. Thats badass man. Maybe I wasn't kidding when i said no state income tax + your gym = moving to Texas.

Dynamic Lower

Comp. DL: 135kg x 1 x 6

GHR: BW x 12, 10, 8

RH: 150 x 15 x 2

Good day today. Weights felt light, squatting out of monolift is way better than walking out.

Just a few more weeks now. Weighing 183 last I checked so BW is steadily climbing.

Phew. Talk about rough gym hours.

What a jerk, limiting hours...

Back day:

Fat Bar Cable Rows (it's a spinning handle too, very hard to hold onto): 160 x 9 x 2, 160 x 8

Vogelpohl Row: 70 x 12, 70 x 11

Pullaparts: (Upper back) green x 22, (mid back) red x 25, ("low" mid back) red x 17, (rear Delt) red x 30

And, got some decorations too:

Got a pic w Magnus yesterday at the Arnold. Watched Shaw overhead press a 300lb inch db for 3 reps today, and ran a 1,540lb yoke across the stage faster than anyone.

Vytautas did it in only 2 picks. Thor, big Z, Dimitar, Jerry Pritchett (who like Shaw was bigger and stronger than ever), and a few others. Eddie Hall had to withdraw due to shoulder injury. JF Caron flipped a 1,050 tire 4 times for a world record. We were 20ft away from all of it.

Bill Kazmaier is still big and awesome AF.

Oh yeah, well I sat at my house and read updates on the competition while I wished I could be there.

I would've tried to bring the posters and get them signed lol.
