this year i played 6 pre season games with barrie ohl. didn't sign because of the no college thing. then got surgery on hernia and was out until january. Have been training off ice and on ice ever since january. BTW i don't know if this is good but i was on the ice for 2 hours and then worked out upper body for around an hour.
 
dude if i were u i would just concentrate on ur strength... there is no way ur going to put on 10lbs of muscle when being on the ice that much...unless u cut tht ice time down to 45-1hr u will be lucky to gain 2lbs a month in my opinion...work on ur strength

i love anabolic pump but only take it in the off season because it eats up the carbs that and skating would deprive your body of every single car you have stored i think...most important thing for u is to up ur carbs...eat as much oats/potatos/brown rice as u can...

my favorite thing to drink when skating and training all day was CHOCOLATE MILK...not joking bring a gallon to the rink with u drink before after and in between skating and lifting it will definately help

its fine. the biggest concern is that your body has already entered catabolism. i don't know how much you know, so forgive me for taking a rather basic approach here. your body stores some carbs in your body, and turns the rest into fat. your body stores fat as fat. your body breaks down protein into BCAA's, and stores it in your muscles. after an hour of exercise, your body has used your preworkout shake, and starts to scavenge BCAA's from your muscles, which leads to a reduction in strength, and general fatigue. having BCAA's to sip on while you're training helps prevent catabolism from happening, which in turn would lead to an increase in strength and energy at the gym, and in the last hour of your time on the ice. so long as your protein/BCAA and carb intake is sufficient, there should be less issues of fatigue, and therefore a greater muscle gain based on how much further you can push yourself. anyways, hope that helps in any way.

EDIT : if you really want to gain size while spending that much time doing cardio, your diet should be off the charts.
 
lol and this has nothing to do with hockey for christ sake! the whole reason why i started this thread was to find good supplements that worked because i was sick of buying ones that didn't such as SIZEON, XXX GNC, SUPER PUMP, NITROTECH and other products and i used these all for three months and i only gained 7 lbs

LOL, i wonder if that 7 lbs was pure creatine water weight. My friend gained 7lbs in a week off creatine! then lost all 7 when he got off it 2 weeks later!
 
i really have the same suggestion as the other.

when i went to college at 17.5 y/o i was weighing in at 167 lbs. i was at this for just about my high school career. when i went to college i took advantage of the freshman 15, or more then that. i ate like a fein and lifted more than ever. my freshman year i got up to 188, this could have been from eating and lifting or just from myself growing but i would give it a few years my man and you are gonna grow.
 
okay so catoblism is bad got it. yah it probably was water weight lol. I can't really limit the ice because if i do, ill fall back in training for the combine. In august i have the whole month off. Tell me what i need to do to gain at least 10-15 lbs for that month of august and september. Eat 8000 cals is what im already doing now, but what else do i need to do.
 
TAKE CREATINE!!!! TAKE BETA ALANINE! Eat a gram of protein per pound of body weight per day. Eat around 3,500-4,000 calories a day, no joke. EAT A LOT OF CARBS!!!! Limit your workouts to about an hour a day of intense lifting!!!! Do what you gotta do to keep your cardio though. I would think you could add 10lbs easy, especially with the creatine give you 6lbs easy!
 
okay man this is what im getting tell me if its good. Bcaa, creatine beta alinene, and im gunna stay on mass fx because it has no side effects and it makes me hungry every 2 hours. And yes i have entered catobolisim and i need to get out of it. thanks for the help guys
 
given you're training schedule ..why dont you look into something to help enhance recovery time, such as PRIME by USP labs or powerFULL which promotes a deep sleep and in turn greatly enhances recovery time allowing you to train more often without AS MUCH risk of overtraining than before, i actually gained 8 lbs in 6 weeks on powerFULL last year. and then throw in BCAAs (Branched-Chained Amino Acids) Isoleucine, Valine, and Leucine which are most responsible for protein synthesis ...i like Xtend by Scivation because it has glutamine and citriulline in it as well. i apologize for being impertinent in the earlier post it's just some many ignorant kids who are too lazy to do their own research come on to this board and ask for help then turn down, or give attitude to the ones who are willing to help.


p.s. i dont know sh*t about hockey because no one watches it bud! :laugh:
 
and also if you are worried about catabolism also look into Forskolin, preferably FORSLEAN, it worked for me very well, it changes the feul source over to fat so you are not using glycogen and protein as a source therefore no muscle loss just FAT, it truly is an incredible compound that I have had great success with. you dont really need either of those but they are options so maybe hit them up when mass fx runs out. Powerful is chill but if your gonna take powerful at night you dont need the ZMA. I would just add powerful only if your looking for something for right now. But in all honesty none of these suppliments are gonna make THAT much of a difference. Especially at our age. Its mostly just how you train and how you eat(and sleep)!

Understand this before you go any further................no supplement is going to put size or weight on you. That is done through diet. If you can't gain weight by eating, steroids or any other thing is only a waste of money. If you are not gaining weight, you are not eating enough....PERIOD. I don't care how many calories you say you eat. I understand you may be burning alot of calories, but that means you have to put those calories back in your body. And yes it's not easy.

yah thats really true. I'm probably not going to gain any weight until the hockey is over which is probably going to be in august so i need to concentrate more on strength are their any supps to help me with that? also im going to go ahead and get the bcaas and the ridding of catabolism

Ya man i am telling you it is going to be very difficult to put on weight while skating that much. Most people do not realize how much hockey players sweat. Its not like football or baseball if basebll players even sweat. I could ring my under armour out after practice or a game and fill up a gatorade bottle with sweat.

Mass fx is suppose to be pretty good with strength but i have never tried it....Powerfull is great in my opinion helps with endurance and thats one thing u my need...run a stack with powerfull, anabolic pump(will have to up ur carbs though) bcaa's and creatine...I know u think creatine may not do **** but it will help a little with endurance and strength....

Also I am telling you try that chocolate milk in between workouts...def will help with replenishing u after skating
 
I think you need to relax a little. You are 18 and 185 lbs. If you are a decent hockey player who can skate, handle the puck, play your position, and have a good attitude, you will get drafted. At 6'2", size should not be an issue. When I was in my draft year, I was the same height as you. If you are good enough, they will come.

The most important thing I was ever told by any scout was "We can teach you how to play, but we can't teach you to be bigger." At your height, size will not be an issue. If you were 5'10", then I would be more concerned. Stick to the basics and eat. You will fill out.
 
okay diet
breafast
2 egg whites
bowl of cereal
full bowl of oatmeal
protein shake

2nd meal:
200g chicken breast
full bowl of pasta
hungry man meal

3rd meal:
340g of tuna
bag of white rice

4th meal after workout
8oz steak
pasta
sweet potato
protien shake
5th meal: same as 3rd meal

6th meal:
salmon
salad
4 egg rolls
protein shake

then i go to bed.
Each protein shake has 1300 cals so mutiply that times three is around 3900
from all the meals the lowest is 600 cals which is the tuna it has to be 8000 if not more
i am also taking mass fx which gives great pumps is gym.

i know man it is a long ass time but its a lot of drills and its whenever the trainer tells me to stop. I get their at 12 and don't finish till 3 or 4

You need to drink BCAA and/or EAA during this workout and also try to take a 5-10 minute break to eat a sandwich or something.
