iPhone 4, Who's getting one?

i haven't actually really looked into this...besides the preorders...when do these things actually hit store shelfs?

For everyone who put their orders in on the 15th, they will be available on the 24th.

For those who ordered after the 15th, they will be available around the 15 of July.

The official release date is the 24 of June.

i'm figuring out how to finance mine...under AT&T's early upgrade thing its still $400.

By the way I will have a BRAND NEW 3GS white 16gb if anyone is interested.

Tupac was just a more marketable rip-off of Scarface. He had charisma and good-looks whereas Scarface.... didn't. LOL. Sad but true.

This is the number one thing that makes me dislike the iPhone. I have the phone and love it. BUT...ATT is terrible. Coverage is so off and on, 3G coverage is specifically what I am talking about.

EXACTLY! AT&T is the worst service I've ever had. My calls are constantly dropped (despite being in a 3g area with 5 bars) and a lot of times I won't receive texts right away (there's been a lot of times when I've gotten texts hours after the person wrote it). I switched over to AT&T to get the iPhone 3g. The phone is pretty nice. But I don't think the iPhone is the best phone out there anymore.

As soon as I can I'm going back to Verizon. Had them for 4 years and never once had any problems with them. I'll definitely be switching over to an Android phone.

Well i had att before but i never had a problwm till i lived in the city (go figure). Now i experience everything you described.
Didnt mean to be rude bro i just want to see this stay on topic

This is not hate:

ATT was good until the iphone came out o.O

Smart phones were a niche before the iphone, then all of a sudden everyone and their dog had a smart phone and were using up all the bandwidth. I think it would have been the same on any <single> network.

Mark my words, when Apple finally stops being exclusive with ATT (2012 is when the current contract ends) you will see TONS, like in the 50% or more range, heading to other carriers, ATT will be awesome again.

I used to be the only guy I knew with a smart phone, people would be like "what do you need to do all that from your phone for?" then they all had iPhones... o.O

Innovation at work, ha!

no doubt there, but the first iPhone was a terrible joke (from a techies perspective) I mean it lacked like 50% of the features free phones had at the time o.O

In all seriousness, even though I despise Apple for their shady tactics and overpriced junk (most of it) I think the iPhone 4 might be a solid device. The first actually solid device that they have come out with hardware wise.

I am also glad they didn't call it the iPhone 4G, because it would have pissed me off to no end having to tell people their phone isn't 4G....its 4th gen, totally different thing there o.O ATT won't have their 4G network up for some time...

And, I will probably end up buying an ipod touch....just because all the stereos I am looking at for my stupid bronco have ipod interfaces, and I can't find a single one with a zune interface o.O Oh well, I should be able to find a dirt cheap ipods on ebay nowadays :P

I have a confirmed reservation to pick one up at the local Apple store on Thursday. I had an iphone 3G that I was pretty happy with, but I lost it almost a year ago now and never replaced it. I used a beat up original iphone for a little bit, and also had a BB Bold 9000 that I ended up selling. I've been reading a lot of engadget, gizmodo, intomobile, etc lately and there's a lot of hot smartphones coming out relatively soon ie. Droid X, Droid 2, Galaxy S, Galaxy S Pro (w/ slide out querty and supposedly Wimax for sprint). I don't even know if iphone 4 is tops, but I've never had an Android phone and I don't think there's any way that I'll be disappointed with the iphone 4 so I just went with that...

It's (the iphone4) still not as powerful as the other new phones, but the updated processor and RAM bring it into the game now tech wise. Snapdragon is still a better proc, and Qualcomm announced a couple months ago that they have a 1.2ghz dual core snapdragon that has shipped to cell makers already. I'll definitely want to see the battery performance on those though :P iPhone 4 should be just fine, although I honestly hope it doesn't have the wifi issues it had when Jobs announced it. If anyone didn't watch he had to tell everyone in the audience a few times to turn off all wifi, because the signals were interupting..

Let us know your first impression. I have to wait until the 14th of July for mine to ship. Lucky SOB.

UPS says I'm getting mine tomorrow. Woot :)

IOS4 improved it. I don't come close to losing battery power on my 3gs. In fact, I rarely go below 50% now.

I don't care how powerful it is compared to other devices. I care about how it performs with the OS it utilizes and if its anything close to the 3gs, its pretty quick. Once again, its apples and oranges compared to other devices.

From what I gather, Samsung's Hummingbird and TI OMAP @ 1GHZ are better processors than the current 1GHZ Snapdragon. And if Apple's A4 is 1GHZ it should be better than Snapdragon as well...

I think it is 750, but Apple will never tell us. I doubt it is stamped on the chip itself either. I do remember seeing a teardown and someone mentioning it was the same A4 as the 3GS, but clocked higher. I think the 3gs was 500ish, dont quote me on that, but 1ghz seems unlikely from that chip. Still, from the games I've seen on the ipod, its probably better than a snapdragon. I haven't really seen any comparable games (I only have a zune hd though, so thats my comparison point.)

Samsung is doing some good **** right now. I saw an article that they are producing a 128gb nand chip now. Which means we will have 128gb memory in phones next year. 1TB mp3 players probably shortly too...nuts.

I still want quantum computing :P

Engadget's got a full review up, along with other sites. They say its a (most likely) underclocked A4 from the iPad.
For starters, Apple has moved on from the Samsung-built ARM Cortex-A8-based CPU used in the 3GS to its custom A4 chip used in the iPad, which funnily enough... is an ARM Cortex-A8-based CPU. While the company hasn't yet said what the clock speed of the processor is, we're guessing it's something below the 1GHz touted for its tablet cousin. The phone is definitely snappier than the 3GS, so we're not about to volley complaints just yet -- in particular, graphics seemed to render faster, and overall responsiveness was slightly higher, though admittedly, it wasn't blowing the doors off the joint. It's certainly faster, but the 3GS wasn't hurting on speed to our eyes, so it's not as wildly noticeable a leap as the 3G to the 3GS.

I'll have mine in 2 days! :D

Got it today....its niiiiiiice. :)

Jealous. Can anybody recommend headphones for working out with the thing, specifically ones that can handle sweat well? I really like the idea of stereo bluetooth headphones like the motorola s9 hd, but those every one like it gets mixed reviews at best.

Biggest thing you notice is the display. Resolution is much better. Everything is much tighter. Photos really pop. Apps load very fast. FaceTime works really well. Usually takes about 5 seconds to connect then works very well.

I have some Bose earbuds I love. Don't know the model...let me do some googling

I wear them working out, they slip out every once and awhile if I am running, but its no big deal for me to just push them back in. I have an armband for my Zune and just wrap extra cord around it. Works for me, and sound is amazing.

Got it today, so far I love it. No reception issues, screen is beautiful, and the OS with multitasking is butter smooth.

i phone 4 sucks IMO, besides video conference its behind on the new phones. DORID X is far superior. whats the point in geeting a i[phone when u can't even view videos on it? besides youtube ones. iphone does not support flash so there is no watchin online movie stream from movies currently out on movie theatre. if ur into gettin whats popular go for iphone. if u want bang for buck theres better IMO. besides the video conference a few new apps and a better resolution nothing big has chnaged.

I MEAN CMON WTF it still runs on 512mb? w-t-f- LMFAO

and the market for apps seems better on droid since it is a more open market. if droidX came with video conference it would be 100% clear winner

You a couple days late for the "iPhone sucks" argument. Some, including myself, prefer it. Also, I do not have any problems watching movies. With the exception of flash, which in all reality isnt 100% necessary on a phone, but not having it is annoying. I have had many torrented movies loaded up onto my iphone, even "in-theatre" movies.

I assume you mean in memory terms. If so, both the Droid X and Iphone have 512.

The processor on the Droid X is a true 1Ghz processor whereas Iphone is overclocked.

Open source has better apps and free'er development.

Iphone has Wireless N, Droid X has G.

It all comes down to what you prefer. I only use my phone for email, text, and phone... so I prefer BB... all these little toy phones annoy me... but if I had to pick one, open source android based would be my choice... I love open source.

ok? please xplain how? what site do u get them.?

and one thing i DO NOT WANT TO DO is jailbreak. its a annoying thing that i dont want to have to do when i purchase a 500$ phone. its like buying a car but u have to buy certain parts for the engine to work separate LOL. im pretty sure any phone jailbreak is awesome. im just comparing standard to standard. IMO DROID X wins. iphone4 gets more eyes for its popularity i agree but it's already outdated in certain categories even before it was released. apple could have done MANY things to improve this device. i think of iphone as nintendo DS, to droid as PSP. nintendo has more games (apps) btu if you are into the cool stuff psp is the way to go.

Ill agree to a point. But I can't think of a phone I have owned that I haven't mod'd in some way. Same with computers, so in that category the jailbreak does not bother me.

And the Droid is a great phone. It is all down to personal choice. My dad has a droid, he loves it. I have played with his, and I would stick to my iphone.

As for where do you get them...I think you are referring to the unsigned apple apps? If that is it, upon a jailbreak you install something called cydia, which connects you to independent servers (called depositories) that host apps, and you download them through cydia and install them. Most of the good ones are free. I also have installous, which gets paid apps for free.

A man after my own heart...I will NOT buy a gadget unless I can modify it somehow...I bought my ZuneHD anticipating it would be popular enough to be hacked soonish...kind of dissapointed at the fact that I can't have custom firmware yet...but there are a few custom apps I guess...considering buying an ipod touch just to see how I can mod it...and because every car stereo in the damn world supports ipod now and only 2 support zune...and not even fully lol.

Based on this quote alone you have no idea what you're talking about.

Agreed. 512mb is nuts for a cell phone. That is RAM, not HDD space.

Wait until it's released mate :) I hope to be getting a droid X...but I will wait until I am home from Iraq, because they might have the dual core snap dragons out by then :P

yah im waiting for dorid X then i will compare first hand.
