Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

@Hyde What are the length of the Grips on you Swiss Bar ?

Idk, 6” approximately? It only says the distance between handles on the spec sheet (10,20,28.5” apart) & diameter.

Thanks, that is about what mine is, but I wish it was closer to 4". I may cut it apart and narrow it.

I’m still down a full 6lbs from the 5-day fast (250 -> 244).
That's awesome, especially with the great bench numbers.

Really enjoyed playing with the extra supportive gear on squats tonight. Could have pulled another set of deadlifts, but after the extra squat work 485 was slow enough I didn’t want to push my RPE any higher.

Had to look into what a squat buddy is..

Basically does what a slingshot does for bench. I still had to walk out and handle holding 220kg in position through the entire squat, but I’m probably getting 15kg taken off at the very bottom to help me reverse the weight back up.

GEAR UPDATE:
Bumping cruise to 180mg test e & 120mg primo e/wk. Raising Turkesterone to 5 caps daily (250mg active/day).

I think I need to be realistic about what it’s going to take to best pursue my goals. This still isn’t even 3mg/kg of bodyweight. And if I cruise on a more substantial dosage to retain muscle better, it’s easier not to rush back into an actual blast.

You gotta keep it fun! You have to have some discipline & it’s going to be work sometimes, but if you aren’t enjoying yourself at least now & again then you might as well just take up fishing!
Wow that's a neat non-methyl stack TRT + primo + Turkesterone.

How is that Turkesterone? Which one did you go with, I was catching up on your log and just curious..

Well, so far I seem to be unusually strong for coming back off blast into a cruise, and my achey knee is improving well & maybe the elbow I’ve had mobility issues with for a long time now has slightly improved. Don’t know if it’s all related at all or not. It’s a luxury product.

I am using a combination of Iron Mag Labs and Nutriisa. They have the same profile except the Iron Mag Labs has added Bioperine that seems to give me heartburn unless I take it during a meal. The Nutriisa does not, so I use a combination depending on the time I dose it.

Awesome. I just discovered Nutriissa as a brand, their Cycle Support which is better then CEL complex and includes TUDCA (way less smelly, herbal gag factor too). Excited to try the Hi-Tech Turkesterone - hear similar things about strengh/apetite/joint benefits. Their Hi-Tech andros with the liposomal, or azine, tech work well and their Melatonin does too. Although, Bioperine based supps I've used also tend to work well for bioavailability, uptake reasons too.

Excited to run perhaps base TRT + Trena-V + Turkesterone (or perhaps) TRT + 17a-andro + Turkesterone then, throw some Iconic Thermoamp do extra rowing machine, basketball with kids, and other painful core cardio before family vacation 4/20... LGI Mecha warmup, going very well - TY again.

The initial getting strong + adding muscle + getting a pump part I can now do, but the whole getting lead/shred / cutting and getting striation, well that's knew for a former tall-ish ectomorph (basketball, v-ball, runner type) who was ever just trying to gain weight until the tire appeared.. I could also throw 3-Ad or Hexadrone and the Turk together. Interesting, the new non-methyl stacking options to get lean/hard/strong.

Though for things to try, while slowly working on the quality of muscle.. also have Anavar or Mast E yet to try - where TRT + Mast E + Turk would be similar to your primo combo here?

Well time to sleep, to get in an AM session, need to get the lost 20+ lbs back.

Got up bright & early to spot the wife - she squat 275x3 on the axle. Then off to a small powerlifting meet in town to backspot for squats, & sidespot for a couple heavy benchers. Good fun & nobody got hurt - wife brought the boy to watch squats. Then my son’s gymnastics again, this time I watched from the balcony. Lastly, to the gym!

Despite all the activities, I had excellent training: tied a rep widegrip PR from on blast, chin-ups getting strong again while heavier than the last period I trained them, & into new territory on the rear delt machine.

Holy crap your wife has gotten stronger! Wow! And you (and others) almost make me wish I had children. .

What’s up with some of the volume work you’re doing, like the sets of 25, 21 x 185 lbs on bench?

What’s the difference with the stiff bar for deadlifts? Is that like 32mm?

Good stuff.

Just a trick to build some muscle very specifically where it’s useful on bench. Gets a second weekly benching in without the same injury risks or wear & tear as heavier bench work. Swede is a fan of it in his 5th Set methodology for the second pressing day, and I have personally found it tends to be useful for my bench as well, more than most other pec-focused exercises. Now if you mean the hacksquat set of 21, the benefits of widowmaker-type thigh work are fairly renowned.

A stiff bar would be any normal bar you’d find, probably 28-29mm diameter, next to no flexion. A deadlift bar is only 27mm so it’s easier to get your fingers around to hookgrip when you have smaller hands, and generally more aggressive knurling so it’s easier to hang onto. A deadlift bar will also flex a bit at the middle with heavier loads before the weight comes off the ground, so you can start the pull in a slightly more advantageous position. If you aren’t pulling at least 300lbs on it, it’s not going to make much difference because the weight is too light to cause almost any perceptible flexing, but it will be easier to hang on & it can make a real difference at higher weights. It’s going to be the equipment of choice at most serious powerlifting competitions. Strongman, it just totally depends on what the promoter has available.

Just didn’t have it today. Amazing how easy 320x3 was last week, but today couldn’t quite manage 305x5. An advertisement came blasting over my earbuds before rep 3 & I became very distracted. I also suppose I was fresher last week, and the weights I lifted then probably affected my preparedness now some as well.

Still, managed to increase the density of weight over my 5x5 by a good 20-25% over last time I did 5s. I was totally drained afterwards, so I bagged it.

Sorta reminds me of Layne's old PHAT routine. Power and Hypertrophy. it's been a few years, but basically 4 day split, 2 days were high weight (upper/lower) and two days were high volume IIRC (upper/lower etc)

Yeah I’d say 4 days/wk of upper/lower split that incorporates both strength & hypertrophy ranges is fairly standard amongst Western strength training, with the strong bodybuilding heritage here.

been thinking about your higher volume day followed by the miss on bench. do you think it's time for a deload, more food, more sleep, or just an off day? i feel like my best day is always followed by my worst.

Yeah every third week is a deload, so next week the main lifts will just be technical. The first week back I am always stronger, and if I push the RPE higher like I did most of the days it’s usually going to affect the second week (this week). Plus the time change, and all the kickass stuff I’ve done Saturday-Monday. It all jives, no biggie.

I have felt last couple days I needed more food and sleep than I’ve had to recover, but they aren’t possible. Like I’m eating plenty to maintain weight (even looking extra bloated) & getting about 8 hours sleep average; I would just theoretically need to be turning over more calories to sustain a higher rate of recovery.

Also, this Super Cardarine seriously turns over glucose hardcore. I think I will drop it as soon as I know my lipids are back in order & save the rest; it’s just impossible to stay muscularly full or keep blood sugar elevated for long. Unless you are on orals/Trest/tren, it’s really hard to keep the muscles full/fueled/hydrated.

Victor Black reckons telmisartan acts similarly to cardarine so if he is correct and you are running both maybe you are dosing the card too high?

Dropped the Telly after the blast when I began my 5-day fast.

They are both PPAR agonists, but that’s where the comparisons would end for me. This Super Cardarine isn’t even like regular GW imo; like I said it’s extremely tough to get enough carbs pre/intra to keep up with training done early in the morning when I don’t have a couple meals under me. I have only ever used either of the GWs at 10mg per day.

@BennyMagoo79 if I didn’t mention it to you though before, I really loved Telmisartan and always plan to use it for blasts. It made such a huge difference in preventing excess water retention/edema (stuff guys would normally probably take an AI for to knock off water, but the root issue is the Angiotensin Receptor activation from the AAS).

Well, throat started bothering me yesterday afternoon, also felt whipped but initially assumed it was from having to push so hard on squats & deads. Then last night hacked up yellow phlegm, and again this morning.

Definitely some icky going around right now. Not particularly sick, just ick. This is the new normal lol.

How’s that primo feeling so far?

Started primo on the 19th (I do all my primo in one shot on Saturdays), so just now reaching peak plasma concentrations after a month.

My skin has been oily, more acne than expected on cruise, but I haven’t used an AI because I want my lipids and joints to get all the support I can give them. So far, no low e2 concerns remotely. If anything I may yet need an AI if I don’t alter the dosage combo to 150/150. I am pulling lipids & cbc in 2 weeks to re-check lipids and also see how blood parameters are responding to this combo.

I would have to say 180/120 test/primo combo feels fairly potent: absolutely feel like this is a hotrod cruise. A big part is probably that I only need 120mg of this brand’s test e to be around 1,000ng/dl trough, so I wouldn’t put that feeling on the primo necessarily, which many say they can’t “feel” at all, other than well-being. I have not noticed any good feels, and in general have felt more irritable lately, especially in traffic. I never react to the impulse, but I am constantly bugged by all the unsafe drivers blasting around here.

Have you tried astragalus for an immune system boost? I've read it can increase white blood cell count and people have confirmed it with labs.

Good shout there for those who don’t use it; it’s actually already a year round staple for me at ~3,400mg/day split over 2 doses for the enhanced kidney care. My white blood cells usually hang around 5.6, unless I am sick in which case they’ll be higher obviously.

I mainly just double my zinc & NAC and up my selenium, maybe take some big doses of curcumin, & say a prayer for the best. Maybe add some extra glutamine in.

Gymnastics with my son a couple hours before this one had me decently mobilized. He is such a blast! Elbow ROM was really bothering me; couldn’t touch without pain at the bottom really on any bench width so even 135 was torture. Still, got some blood in the pec with the minor strain and it held 135 no pain or issue.

Still, really awesome day. Lots of various PRs. Had a great fight on the 300lb lockout, heaviest rear delt flyes on machine ever, and chin-ups were awesome.

Very good! Probably qualifies as a hot rod cruise lol. Are you pinning test sub Q with more frequency or just splitting dose 2x per week? I noticed sust sub Q eod was my sweet spot for cruise in terms of sides.

Test or no test, road rage and rood rage are one in the same. Fuggin non drivers on the road everywhere!!!!!!
