I think that still counts, it is cold, lots of dairy, sugar, fat and the Oreos make it a home run automatically!Lol no, but he did split a piece of Oreo cheesecake with Momma after dinner at the nearby cafe!
Man Oreos and cheesecake…. that goes together like tits and ass!Lol no, but he did split a piece of Oreo cheesecake with Momma after dinner at the nearby cafe!
solid choice, really. I remember seeing I think Josh Bridges struggle in an xfit games event years ago because it was quite heavy. it was something like 405 or 450 deadlifts for reps super set with weighted KB pistol squats that were also games level heavy (70lbs+?... we're talking 8-10 years ago probably). he did what he could but finished poorly. IIRC they had like a 2 minute or 5 minute rest before flying into the next event which was ring muscle ups and handstand pushups or something. the big guys that crushed him in the deadlift wod struggled bigly but his smaller 5'5" 160lb frame slammed out the rings and HSPU's fast.My wife basically sat the deadlift out - the lowest openers the others put in were 385, so she just pulled a very easy 305 to grab the point for last in that event & saved her energy for the remaining 3 events.
But that being said, that was a very impressive event to watch: one woman pulled 515, and a guy pulled 735! This is weighing in under 141lbs & 176lbs, respectively.
I had no idea who Kevin Gates was until recently when he was on Theo Von, solid stuff! My playlists don't really seem to cycle into contemporary hip hop too often so I'm out of the loop on the scene.
Thanks! Glad to be alive & getting stronger!Happy belated old man!

Got the new Inzer Ergo Pro knee sleeves in & used them for the first time; not sure they give any more pop than the EFS double-ply, but they make you feel extra stable like a light wrap & this is what’s legal in comp. Very confidence-inspiring, so they were worth the effort to use. Also took 15mg Mk677 yesterday to try to eat everything I could in prep for today; this is the last squat-building session before peaking.
The base is built: now it’s time to begin manifesting the potential.
That’s some impressive squats, and congratulations on the PR….looks like you’re starting to hit on all cylinders leading up to that first meet.7/18/25

So I have decided against doing the August 2nd meet. I realized I simply don’t need it; I always have nerves at contest and they never stop my performance. I don’t need to get on the platform to know I can do it, so it’s just kind of a waste of money that also puts constraints on my peaking/testing compared to doing that in the gym. That’s some impressive squats, and congratulations on the PR….looks like you’re starting to hit on all cylinders leading up to that first meet.![]()

Got some accessories in while my son had his exercise class yesterday, then took him to go camping with a buddy and his daughters. We went kayaking & swimming, and he really had a blast - definitely laid down a solid core memory. Playgrounds, biking, smores, all that stuff.
I sure was glad I had skipped DB rows when I was paddling back across the lake! That was plenty after some chin-ups.

Just haven’t really held anything in the 500s lately all the work has been submaximal low 400s. So I will probably add a couple heavy holds this month to help prepare.
Happy to be making pain-free progress again! Back feels awesome.

Humidity was nuts yesterday morning; everyone was dying as it was 99%, but then it started pouring rain which definitely cooled things off. Right in time to change my shirt, get my head on straight and take 501. Then 534 was even faster, closer in difficulty to an opener than a second attempt. Next squat will be 100% session to lock in the potential for meet attempts.

LISS is so underrated for recovery for powerlifting. Just a good 15-20 minutes does me wonders for lower body recovery.Signed up for the meet on August 24th. Locked in!
20 minutes LISS on the Assault Bike this morning for recovery while my son did his exercise class. Made a big difference for my shoulders/back/hips.

Wanted to do a little Frontsquat, but using a barbell at the commercial gym just presses on my carotid & turns everything dark. They felt easy as they should, but there’s just no way to do it without blood to the brain. So after that waste of time I moved on to the legpress, which was productive at least.

Yeah definitely…..his numbers are coming back quick, and look how deep that squat was in the photo…talk about Ass to the Grass….getting closer and closer to that 600 range.beast mode activated!!
Normally always do them with a reversed safety bar anymore, and while that technically puts the weight a little further from the body due to the pad, it also spreads the weight out keeping it from compressing that main artery to your head.Oh wow, that’s the last thing you need, to pass out doing front squats…glad it didn’t turn ugly and you still got in a productive workout.

Rib that got painful on frontsquats Sunday stopped hurting today thankfully; been a thorn in my side the last few. Decided I’m moving my 100% squat up to Friday (supposed to be particularly cool). I need to squat in a combo rack for the meet, which means I will also need 3 spotters, and I can only get that Friday or Tuesday mornings. Will pull my 90% deadlift after if I feel good for it, as that replicates a meet more anyway. Training back & bis 36 hours prior isn’t ideal for pulling then, but I will call an audible Friday.
I also feel like I really needed a bit more heavy exposure on bench to prepare for maxing out, as I will need to be able to trust my shoulder & pec. Pecs were sore from the high-rep Widegrip just yesterday morning, but 335 still moved how I hoped it would - sub-maximally & painless. Kept volume very low; this was purely heavy practice.
Two different people told me today how jacked I was looking, same as when I went to the commercial gym Sunday. One of them was someone I have never seen or met; guy just came up and said you’re a pretty big dude, then asked me if I did strongman![]()

Took a little 5lb best at this bodyweight; when I did 573 in a comp my back popped painfully on the way up, driving me to scrap my third attempt. Today I felt like if it was at the comp I definitely would have called for 600 after, but since it wasn’t I decided to stick to the plan & save it for the meet - I am very confident in it now! Technique & positioning is dialed in. No time to even think about deadlifting, but today was a big success.

100% session for bench is done. Wife came by the barbell club to lift me off so we could practice together for the meet. 347 didn’t move very well; it came out of the groove and hung for a moment, so I made the last jump tiny. Bench has felt bad/weak since the pec strain in April, and only now really feels like my shoulder & pec can be pushed 100%. 352 was much easier, but I am not in position to take a 242 PR, so I left it there - I have what I need to make a PR total at this weightclass & feel good.

Still looking good and strong….it’s good to see the shoulder and pec are 100%. Hope you’re able to get that PR total. It’s impressive how you’ve been able to work through all the nagging injuries and setbacks to get back here. Now you’re down to countdown to “Beastmode” these next 3 weeks.8/3/25
