IMO a meal with a mix of protein and fats is far superior to casein. Or if you want the best of both, go for something like cottage cheese that has casein in it but also still needs digested as well. Even better (and far cheaper) than a powder.
Blends are far superior to whey or casein for anytime of the day anyways.
bighulksmash that's really odd about the hypo... there's literally no physiological reason I can think of that having whey would cause that effect (especially when casein doesn't since there's no carbohydrate difference...). Doesn't make sense that that would be the cause of a hypo episode
could it be insulin spike ? When I changed my workout time the episodes got less and less. Closer to bed I w/o worse off I wake up.

There's should be almost no insulin spike if you're just having a shake (unless it's full of carbs). Especially if it's close to a workout when you would be in literally the hardest natural state to spike insulin. The body is at its most insulin sensitive at that time (post workout) meaning very little insulin is released.
Very interesting, example ; I work out at 930 pm have shake at 10pm go to sleep by 1030 . Wake up about 345am shaking and nervous. Only think fixes me is some fast carbs . Doctors said no to me being diabetic. iam thoroughly confused.

As you guys know I usually work arms and back 5 days a week. Today I just took an off day . Really got to rest a little bit and spend some time with my loved ones. Had a great dinner and ended it off with some vanilla caramel fudge by Ben & Jerry's I recommend checking that out man that's some good ****.
