How to lower prolactin?

I read that in order to lower prolactin, there is one prescription drug for it called bromocriptine. I don't mind getting it but doubt my endocrinologist would give me it. People here tell me if you can't get prescription, go use vitamin b6 or vitex and it would work.

Does anyone know which one of the two is better? I'm 23, and my prolactin was 24 six months ago. It is 16.8 recently which is still very high. If it is high that means low sex drive. I read that vitex is used a lot by women though and if men use it, it lowers fertility?

Do you say vitamin b6 or vitex to lower prolactin?
 
You can buy Cabergoline which has a very good effect on prolactin. Vitex and B-6 also work, but not as well in my opinion.

Prolactin can be falsely elevated by having sexual intercourse of masturbation 24-48 hours before blood draw. Low thyroid signanaling can also result in higher prolactin levels. Have your thyroid properly evaluated. Remember normal does not equal healthy.

I tested my prolactin once and it was at 35.. which was definitely way over normal range. I was freaking out.. but then I tested it again 2 months later and it went down to 5, which is totally normal, and I didnt really do anything.

So.. before you go taking drugs to mess with your hormones consider that. It fluctuates. I also heard that sex/masturbation before can jack up your numbers, so no sex/masturbation for a couple days before your next test.
 
i use hghup. any of the hgh supps will suffice. but then again nothing beats script stuff
 
Are you on any kind of medication currently? Any medication that lowers dopamine levels will likely raise prolactin levels as well. I was on trazodone to help me sleep for a long time, I didn't realize that it was a dopamine antagonist anti-psychotic drug and low and behold my prolactin was 17 at the time of my blood test. I stopped taking it for two months and was retested with a prolactin level of 6
 
ya i feel like i have a same situation on my hands too. I need to get my prolactin levels down while rasing dopamine levels as well (not to steal this guys message board at all just real interested.) i was reading and the only non prescription affective way to lower prolactin levels is to vitamin b6 or ginseng?

i split it morn noon and night

I use whenever i run any progesterone

Using right now while running Tren Enth @ 300mg EW

Ive also used when running oral progesterones and never had a problem you can buy this any Vitamin shop, online much cheaper

theu have this brand here at NP $6.95

What are you looking to achiece? prevent prolactin or lower prolactin levels?

I like to have Prami on hand just in case dont think there is such a thing as being over prepared

really looking to lower prolactin levels. but i was reading and saw that it can crash your sex drive?? im trying to recover not ruin my sex drive more then it already is. and it also said that it increases estrogen in men?? you suppose to take an anti-estro along with the vitex so that it only affects prolactin? or is vitex safe to take alone along with l-arginine and a multivitamin (which im taking now)

sex drive is individual per person, and either having too high or low of a prolactin, estrogen or testosterone may or may not affect you. So dosed too high, sure it could crash your sex drive, just like taking any AI at too high a dose can. Thats why ATD has the reputation for killing sex drive, it suppresses estrogen too much at what it considered normal dosing.
 
alright will prolly try vitex at 1200mg for 4 weeks split through out the day. is that safe to take alone tho? and should i reduce the mg byy week or just stay at 1200 for four weeks since vitex is relatively cheap

wow justread that arginine can actually increase prolactin levels interesting. Sooo wont combine that with teh vitex then. Would a natty t-booster along with vitex be beneficial in counteracting the high estro that vitex can sometimes cause in men? i have t-bomb 2 on the way already was gonna try it out because i have heard good things so maybe a natty t booster/vitex/multivitamin??
 
Always multivit all year round for me plus NAC and y if u have nasty test booster certainly can't hurt

Vitex has never effected my libido, if I remember correctly its supposed effect fertility in men but that would only be if used for long term

alright sounds good. ill prolly use vitex at 1200mg for a month, should i drop that by week or keep it at that for four months straigh? think i may use that and then use mucuna pruriens to stack with the vitex. use those two suppolements hopefully to reduce prolactin and get that dopamine going again in the noggin

I just noticed this when someone else quoted it, how long were you on trazodone and at what sort of dose?
 
Well ive been on Tren Enth now for 10 weeks @ 400mg EW and 1200mg Vitex ED has worked for me

I had prami on hand but have not had to use :)
 
Anyone ever try combining deprenyl / selegeline with cabergoline?

I'm currently using 10mg (everday) memantine (long term useage) which upregulates D2 receptors, and am currently using script cabergoline in the short term (.5mg twice per week) for prolactin control, thinking it would be very synergistic. By the feels of things, it's not as great as I had hoped for, so I'm thinking of throwing in some low dose deprenyl with it. Too much? Or should I do the opposite and cut down my caber doseage due to the memantine?

Also taking 800mcg - 1200mcg methyfolate. Might add in small doseage of sam-e as well as some l-tyrosine. Want to make sure all precursors are in place in case I have a deficiency.

btw, looking for it's pro-sexual effects, not just lowering of prolactin.
