Me....
I have one, this one. NPC camo. I got it as encouragement. I wear it around my house...never to the gym. I might sometime though once i get a big enough chest to make it look good.

I wore a tank top ONCE to the gym...i think it was day before 4th of jully and there was all of 2 people in the free weight area so i dint look like a douche.

I usually wear XL/XXL shirts...i have a Chicago Sox, Monster Energy, ZERO(skateboards), White Ts, Element(skateboard comapny)

EDIT: I know the pose sucks...deal with it. haha

Tuck your tag in mate!

there was this one guy that I saw who was wearing some form of cycling pants to do deadlifts :( They hugged too tight

Why does it matter what people where to the gym to anyone? Aside from the comment regarding someone's hairy boys falling out what does it really matter? As long as whoever it is is whiping of the equipment when they are done how does it effect anyone else in the gym. Really it just doesn't, if you allow it to bother you the issue is yours and not the person wearing the tank top. There is not a deviant mindset associated with people in tank tops at the gym. We can batter this thing around all day and night but bottom line is everyone has preferences. Too many differences in personality to try to roll any one up into a group just because they wear a tank top, or are one of the guys who wear sweatshirts every day at the gym. Extroverts probably a little more likely to be in a tanktop, introverts probably a little more likely to be a little gaurded and covered up. Both groups have as many douches in them a massengil jumbo pack. Doesn't mean that everyone in those groups are either, and more likely that there is an equal balance in both when all is said and done.

I'm gay...

Shouldn't it be me who's worrying about who's wearing what and what style?

I'll wear whatever the F I want to the gym and screw everyone else. Like he said...all business.

The level of gay strongly correlates to body size (with respect to lean mass) -- with the average sized male wearing a Y-tank being the gay apex.

Anybody far smaller than average wearing one isn't gay -- just kind of weird and confused. Anybody considerably bigger than average wearing one would begin to fill it out much better (in addition to the other elements of being a more muscular person) which would reduce the level of gay. The middle-of-the-road are the ones with something to prove.

A huge fat guy wearing one isn't gay -- it's gross. Fat people are fat no matter what they do and a tank isn't gonna fool anybody.

A crazy skinny guy wearing one isn't gay -- it's weird. He probably wore it by accident because we know that no article of clothing is going to make him look bigger.

A competitive bodybuilder wearing one isn't gay -- it's accepted. These guys are huge and we all know they don't need the shirt to try to look big.

But, an individual approaching "average looking" from either angle wearing one is gay -- it comes off like an attempt to make yourself look bigger/more impressive regardless of "intention" like seeing your muscles work and too hot and blah and this and that.

So, the farther you are from the average individual, the less gay it is if you wear a Y-tank or some other ridiculous shirt to the gym.

All of this applies x1000 out in a public area.
All of this applies x0.3 if running in a hot, outside setting.

"I'll wear whatever I want"
-- Great, they'll judge it when you get there.

"But I do what I want when I want cause I'm confident"
-- Great; confidence is a good thing for someone in that shirt to have.

"I don't care what anyone else thinks"
-- Great, cause they all think you're hilarious.

"**** everybody else"
-- Brilliant.

Wow, what a thread. Just fyi, kmart sells hanes tagless colored wife beaters in a 4 pack for like 10 bucks. At least coordinate your colors, white is so blase'.

ya, but thats not what this thread is about... its about our opinion...

Was this in response to my post? If so :wtf:
I believe that was my opinion so how is it not what this is about. Just a little confused there. There were multiple of topic comments and mine which had everything to do with the topic is stated to not be what the thread is about?

The only reason there is any issue with any of this is some people are closed minded and are of the opinion that people who do not do as they do are gay, douches or any other derogatory comment that can be made or assigned to them for their differences. If we want to celebrate each other's opinion or right to have one that is excellent! I am all about it, my opinion is there needs to be a little more acceptance of others. You can miss out on way too much judging a book by it's beater.

That dude in the skimpy tank may have the information you need to break that plateau you have been stuck at for 3 months. He may be one of the coolest guys you have ever met but he is a douche because of his wardrobe so why worry about it.

I do have a question for everyone who talked about not wearing tanks at the gym. Does that mean that you do not wear tank tops at all during normal daily life? If so what is it that makes it ok in everyday life but not at the gym. Just curious... :)

good fvckin point!!! hahaha

I'd rather see comfortable people lifting weights than people that are uncomfortable with what they are wearing in public or being restricted by their clothing. So....
If you don't like tank tops, sleeveless shirts, or looking at other people you can...
A. Find a new gym that bans this stuff
or
B. Buy a weight set and lift at home.
Seriously... It's a gym. People are there to get hot and sweaty. No one is forcing you to look at them. I feel that as long as they are wearing some kind of shirt and some kind of pants, thats fine by me. Unless you're a reasonably attractive girl... then go ahead and lift naked. Thats fine. as for the fatties... go buy a sweat suit... seriously... lol.

What about the trashy beaters? I can think of a million things that could be considered gayer. Speaking of things that are not so much gay that I found doing that exact same search...

OMG a beautiful English girl with teeth! (I think)

Few posts back...

I wont wear onein the gym casue i dont wan to look liek a macho muscle head. I dont like to look like im trying to show off. And plus, its an element of suprise for when i do.

I wear them around my house/yard. Never to the store or out anywhere.
My skin kind of sucks too so its thats...its like people said before, if i know i dont belong in one i dont.

I am also a person who sweats alot and body temp goes up very easily so at the gym i also dont so my sweat can get soaked up if need be.

I wear sleeveless. Allows for some airflow to the pits, free arm motion, and I don't have any pit stains for people to look at as im walking down the street to my car.

Boston Irish are required to wear them, even when gay. I need to represent my backwater, punkass city wherever I go by showing armfuls of tattoos and beef for all to see.

Do you think it's gay if I wear my bodybuilding tanktop when I'm doing floral arrangements?

I thought it would only be gay when I wear it while I'm _____ _____.

Hey Inarius - you go to the can in your Storm Trooper suit, what about the gym? :icon_lol:

I prefer to wear a t-shirt.

Any guys wearing less than are look tasteless.

If you are out of shape, that's pretty self-explanatory.

If you are in very good shape, then everyone thinks you are a c0cky bastard.
And you should!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. .....HOWEVER what would you say to someone with 4-5% bodyfat and weighs over 200 pounds?? Does you opinion matter here.......NO!

Go lift ..........and shut your mouth please.

I had to wear a Y-back tank top to the gym last week. I had't done laundry and all I had was that and a sweat shirt. I wore the sweat shirt for as long as I could. I felt like a total douche bag. My sweat shirt was dripping in sweat so I turned it inside out and that only bought me another 10min or so. I had to do my last 2 or 3 sets in the stupid ass Y-back.

I figure'd i'd tell you guys since I flammed them so much but Im man enought o admit when I look like a total douche.

would it be gay if I wore butt-less leather chaps to the gym?

I was about to say that nothing you wear makes you "gay", but then I read this and have to say, maybe that isn't true!

I presonally dont think it is about how you dress, but how you act. I've seen guys wear tanks that are all about business, not screaming, whip down equipment when done, etc. I have no problem with them.

Then I've seen guys wear them and act like douche bags. It pisses me off because they ruin it for the rest of us that are serious about the gym.

Here is a story to explain it does not take a t top to make you a douche.

So last week I am doing preacher curls and I see these two guys doing CHEAT bar curls with 185. These guys were literally close to blowing out their spines with the swing they were using.

So unfortunately, I know the one guy thru a friend. I hear him talking to his boy saying all kinds of **** (this guy is a straight yuppie, so you have to frame my mindset right), when suddenly he busts out with "BRING THE VIOLENCE".

Ok, so I'm mid set and almost tear both biceps, when this guy looks up and sees me. Comes over like we are best pals and starts in on how I need to "BRING THE VIOLENCE" to motivate me.

I tried guys, I tried to be nice, but finally I said, "Dude, seriously ****ing beat it".

The morale of this story is that I dont care if you stake a goat out in the parking lot and bang it (much less wear a t top), but dont act like a f'n douche and give all lifters a bad name.

End of rant!!!

LOL. Woudl be one thing if this guy were actually what I would consider a hardcore lifter, but this is someone who wears a blazer to go pick up milk. Serious toolbox.

At least he did say "bring the violence" and not "bring me a blazer so I can go get my milk!"

There's a dude who comes to my gym wearing the high school football coach nut hugger shorts and t-shirt that he's cut off right above his belly. That way we can all see his male muffin top.

Holy Crap there is a visual I could have done without. Does he have a comb-over too?

While picking on people just for the heck of it. What is with the Weight belt lovers? You know who I am talking about, guys who have a lifting belt on for EVERY lift. You see them sinching it up nice and tight before wrist curls. Then they re-tighten it up for a set of tricep extensions. Sometimes I like to refer to them as a "Gym Girdle" everybody sinching them up to look like their waist is smaller. OK, HiJacking over. LOL

I still can't wear a tank in public. I am confident and proud of my physique, have several tanks actually, but still can't bring myself to wear them. I don't have a problem with those who do. I wear a t-shirt in the gym, but prefer the athletic moisture-removing kind.

Example; just the other day there were these 3 kids working out together flexing in the mirror and then talking about how this "*****" as they referred to her as was looking over in there direction. Saying to one another "lets gang bang that *****" and "Shes prolly looking at me because im getting ****in jack'd" He then say down and I see he had about 18" big thighs. These were all the 6'0" 160-180guys.

Are you ****ing kidding me?!?!? There are a good number at my gym so it really gets me one time I just want to blow up on them when i hear them talking like this.
These sociopaths need their bones broken. I could not hear that and stay quiet, but that's just me... Luckily, our gym is very protective of its women, and most likely wouldn't tolerate this talk should it get overheard.

Kinda random (not uncommon with me), but we have a situation that is starting to escalate to an unacceptable point. My wife and I train separately, but usually at the same time in the gym. There is a large hispanic population here, and I've found it is acceptable and expected in their culture to be quite vulgar and show childish displays of attraction to females, and my wife and I ignore this to a degree. At one point, I got kicked out of a Walmart store after I put one of them upside down into the pots/pans section when he turned around to grab my wife's ass as I lagged behind with the cart... Lately I have observed a 'pack' of mexicans at our gym that have gone from the usual stares, winks, comments, and whistles to a disgusting overtly sexual harassment that only stops when I am around. Not sure how it got to this point as I would have expected them to have been "dealt with" considering the usual way things work at my gym, but a discussion with one of the few that speak English is imminent.

I wouldnt have tolerated another guy trying to grab anyone's ass. Good job on getting in his face about it.
Even if he was bigger than me, I would have jumped in his sh*t. That's not right on any occasion.
Kudos to you

protect your woman at all costs

even if it means your own neck. i have no problem jumping into someone that could snap me in half as long as I'm doing it for the right reason. If someone harasses my woman, its on! I'll hulk out and take em down. lol. but in all honesty guys like that need to be put in their place. Most of them don't train or do anything besides tax humanity with their presence.
