Hi-Point firearms

i just remember laughing when i heard because i thought a glock was one gun that could never happen with?

yeah but he was a moron... didnt he make it rain in a strip club then make all the strippers give his money back. that is hood!!

i don't suggest condition 1 for any firearm that isn't safe in that condition. the LDA trigger is not a true DA due to the fact you can't do a re-strike by just pulling the trigger, just like the glock, s&w M&P, XD/m are all not true DA...

That does look pretty sweet. But still too small lol.

Ok so let's do this....
somebody find me a sweet intimidating compact pistol from 9mm on up, for between 350 and 450 bucks.

For that range, your best bet will probably be a compact Glock or XD...Glock 27. If you have gun shows in your area, I'd check that out.

and I am probably answering my own question here (i should just go to a gun shop / show and see how they feel in my hand) but i have normal to i guess slightly smaller hands (6.5 wrist maybe 3inches palm) a full size 1911 or glock or what ever wouldnt be too big would it?
Not talking anything like Desert Eagle or some other hand cannon. just a normal pistol. :)

I've also heard nothing but good things about Kahr. Their CW series appears to be about ~$380 new...there's a ton of them on Gunbroker in that price range, they come in 9, .40 and .45 ACP. Their P and MK series tend to be a little pricier, more towards $700, but its another idea.

I'm a fan of many of the pistols in the taurus line for ccw:

most of the "serious" calibers offer a re-strike capability, which i see as essential.

Yes, I know the right thing to do in a failure-to-fire is a tap-rack-target-squeeze drill, but under the stress that accompanies the situation in which a CCW will most likely be, most all of us (who have not had a lot or any professional training), will pull the trigger several more times before realizing there is a problem, 80% of the time (or more depending on where you find your stats) the second strike will set off the primer and the gun will be working well again. IMHO for your average ccw person, this is a huge advantage.

no different grip sizes are available. double stack 45 might be a little big. but a single stack or 40 cal would probably fit you nicely

the gen4 glocks all have a smaller frame than previous glocks i believe.

I'll take one of these:

seriously though how crazy did a gunsmith need to be in the 1930's to get the idea to rock and roll a 1911, add a foregrip and port the barrel :) what that 50 years before the full auto Baretta or Glock 18? :)

he is my hero

Turns out the army had a guy try it out. In 45 apc I think But the one in the pic was made by Dillinger & baby face nelson's gunsmith in 38 super have to wonder how much climb it has only 20 round in the mag too

not much with a .38

Good to know. Not that any of us will ever have the chance to try one :(. That's pure americana there if you ask me

you could have one made for about 200 bucks plus the gun, my gun smith is excellent and has modified allot of guns for me. i wouldnt try it out on a really colt 1911 because they are valuable but id wouldnt mind altering a Rock Island

not you can change a certain number of parts related to the trigger mechanism on a gun. by adding a fore grip and a barrel exstion you would would not be modifying its fire rate so there for it would be legal in all states. converting an assault rifle in to a bullpup style stock is where you could run into problems. in arkansas you can make no more than 15 modifications. which i have managed to do with an sks of mine. i sold it for $750, the gun cost $200 mods cost $125 so it was quite profitable

I have two Hi-Points. A .380 in my car and a 40cal in my home. Fired several hundred rounds through both, all went down range. The only time both jammed is when I used cheap a$$ POS Winchester ammo from Wally World.

The only thing I don't like about them, is the weight and a bit bulky. If your looking for an inexpensive gun, American Made HI-Point.

Just talked to my buddy last night who shoots his .45 regularly.

I've got a ruger 10-22 in bullpup stocks. I'd rather have an AK or variant than an SKS though

well we converted it our selves, and id much rather take a $200 sks and destroy it than a $700 ak, plus i think you can buy kits for ak's pretty cheap. at that point in time there were no affordable kits for the sks. there is one out know by SGworks.com its bad ass

I am sure most of the "in accuracy" statements about ak's is when they are on full auto - but how bad are the decent semi autos? much better / worse than a comperably priced / quality AR or m14 variant?

I've had a Nirinco AK - complete garbage. Then had a Romanian AK (ROMAK) - it was ok, didn't particularly care for the AKs. I then had a Cetme ( HK G3 clone) and absolutely loved it. Also was building an Imbel FAL, had the parts kit and completely refinished all parts, it was ready for a receiver but I couldn't find a decent Type 1 or Type 3 receiver for under $400 so I ultimately sold it. If I ever get another assault rifle, it'll be .308 and probably a FAL. Not a huge fan of ARs but it's only because of all the time I had on M16s, leave it to the military to make you hate shooting something lol.

Lol. I was leaning ak for the reliability and the 308 which was why I was think push come to shove m14 or very accurate ak build :)

If your sold on an AK, I'd look for an Egyptian MAADI, or a Russian AK, just steer clear of the Chinese models. If you want an M14 type I'd go with a Springfield M1A.

Your welcome. I was a frequent browser of the HI-point forum, and the there didn't seem to be a real big difference in the 40 and 45, except that the 45 had more kick. The HP 40 and 45 are large guns so the less kick, the happier I am.
