Gyno surgery on Wednesday

I'm not doing this as a real need, mine is hardly noticeable at all. But there are lumps and it's very annoying. for someone who will probably be on gear or some kind of TRT for the rest of my life I think it's a smart decision. Anyway my question is I'm obviously not gonna be able to train the same as I usually do for the first week or so. Is it feasible to still work out but very very light and not involve the pecs at all... I know that's difficult but I just can't see me staying out of the gym for considerable amount of time. The photo is a day after meniscus surgery, yes I know I'm an idiot. But in my defense we all know what it's like to miss the gym.

Don’t do it homie. I waited 11 days after mine to even go in the gym, thought I was playing it safe. Squat with a safety bar and just did legs. Developed a massive hematoma under one pec, like a golf ball of blood that took months to dissolve & break up even with the compression wrap.

Gyno surgery is actually a surprisingly slow recovery; I’ve had a couple other surgeries and gyno removal was the most painful & longest to recover. Reattaching a tendon is way smoother.

Hmmm....thank for the advice. And that happened because you worked out or did it develop on its own? I wasn't planning on doing anything heavy or technical at all, just really low weight probably no more than 10 pounds maybe less. How long before you started back up on a regular basis

The only I time had actual lumps Nolvadex worked for getting rid of them. I could come off then but Transdermal resveratrol may help also. I would at least give resveratrol applied directly to the area a shot.

I've tried everything, plus the gland is still there. I figured I'll just get it removed and it will be less to worry about. Even if you do have the surgery and get the glands removed it's still not full proof.

Get it done, its the best decision I made! Mine was done under local anesthesia so I watched the whole thing and was in and out in a little over a hour. Lol. But my doc told me to wait 7-10 days and mainly just not to tear the stitches. Obviously I would not go super heavy but you will be fine in a week after getting the drain tubes out.

Oh yeah it's definitely getting done, I will be under local too not sure if I can watch it though. Yeah I plan on training really light for a couple of weeks. I was doubtful about getting it done at first but it's necessity for us to use gear. Do you still take an AI just in case

Yes, my primary doc has me on a AI with the TRT.

Even after your surgery. I think it's a good idea, I've just started taking an AI. I would hate for anything to happen, it's just not worth the risk. I wish I had thought like that before

After losing weight, I did the surgery. I was back to doing cardio within days, light lifting within 2 weeks.

See how you feel is what I say. I didn't have stiches around my nips to worry about. The place I went to just did the laser lipo using the wand.

Oh wow I haven't heard of that method, did you get the glands totally removed with the laser?

The physician stated he removed the glandular material in the area. I temper expectations. I did not go to a physician who is an expert in male gyno and complete gland removal. I went to a physician that uses a less invasive method and the primary focus was removing excess ab skin. The gyno removal was secondary. The surgery was done under general anesthesia (I was awake).

My gyno was from puberty, along with years of obesity, not exogenous steroid use.

Oh I see, well I'm glad it worked out for you. It must've been a relief getting it done and seeing the results. I just want the glands removed, they don't serve any purpose my chest area will look a lot better without them.

That combined with excising my ab flap was the best money I ever spent. In hindsight, I would have went to a pro that is more focused on cosmetics. Either way, I now have pecs and not tits :)

Today is the day,It's out of pocket I got hell of a deal
Hell yea! And Im sure you got a deal if it is local anesthesia. Mine was $2500 vs others that are $7000 when they are put under.

That's better than mine, mine is $3500 which is still a good deal I was quoted anywhere from 5000 to 10,000, I even looked at going to turkey to get it done. Is the pain manageable the first couple of days

Yes its 5-10k if you have to go to the hospital and use a anesthesiologist. Much cheaper if its local. A guy I work with had it done 3 weeks ago and it was $7k. As far as pain, man its nothing other than a little where the stiches are.

Hopefully they remove the entire gland so it doesnt come back

Congrats on your procedure. I had lipectomy as well as excision - pseudogyno can be sucked out with lipo because it’s estrogen-sensitive fatty tissue, but actual glandular growth has to be cut off/out.

Because you will have stitches from gland excision, I would wait a couple weeks. I wish I had weighted 2 weeks and not 10 days, that’s almost 50% longer to avoid months of awfulness. I also can’t recall how hard I trained - knowing myself, it was probably way too hard, since I thought as long as I didn’t stretch my chest/shoulders I would be safe.

10lbs is going to certainly be much safer than than a few hundred, if you do decide to do something. Lower you keep the intensity, the better.

You can always still grow new glandular tissue. Getting rid of this one means it’s gone, which is great because it’s easier to prevent gyno than managing it once you have it. But understand that if you are prone to gyno from something (estrogen, 19-Nors, growth hormone/igf1 exposure) that’s still a pathway to be on your guard in the future. Its a myth that getting surgery means you can’t get it in the future.

I plan on taking an AI from now on. It was a little painful after the drugs wore off. I have an ice pack for my knee and decided to use it, it feels 100 better, is that a good idea ?

It will help with some of the local inflammation, yes. But don’t overdo it.

15-20 minutes on tops, at least 40 minutes off. Make sure you are not using it directly on skin, always have a thin cloth or wrap between pack and flesh (in case you didn’t know the basics).

Did insurance cover any of the cost or was it all out of pocket?
No. In hindsight, I could have went that route if I pushed the primary to find a reason/medical necessity.

I visited a few surgeons before making a decision. One even talked about removing my nipple. Yep, didn't even talk about reattachment. It would be equivalent to a female mastectomy. LOL

When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. And when all you are good at is mastectomies, that’s all you know how to do.
