Group Accountability / Challenge thread

Legend
Hello AM Members! Me and a few other members here have decided to create an Accountability / Challenge thread to help us keep each other accountable for our current goals. Most of us are trying to lean up right now but this is not limited to people who are leaning up for the summer. We will keep this a fun and supportive thread. Posting up progress pictures at the beginning and every 2 weeks until the end or we reach our goals if before. We will all offer support, and help keep each other accountable, maybe even talk some trash and add in some additional challenges if people decide to do so. To make it more fun if people want, we can set up a 1 month, 2 month, and 3 month category and have a mini competition on who made the most progress within those groups and time frames. The we can all vote based on progress. I find this helps people with accountability even more so we can discuss that option later. This is probably the 5th time I have set one of these up and they are always fun, motivational and get the best efforts out of most involved.

The actual beginning is going to be May 1st, but you can go ahead an join in and post up current weight, progress pictures, goals and time frame you intend to commit to beginning now if you want.

If so when you make your entry in here please post up your specific goals, the time frame you intend to complete, and any other information you deem pertinent. Yes this is open to all comers so you don't have to ask if you can get involved. Just sign up and get going. If you are already cutting or bulking or whatever don't worry, you can just hop in from where you are now.

Time frames will be 1 month, 2 months, and the challenge will complete it's course at 3 months.

Here are a few of the members who have already said they wanted to join. Hopefully I am not missing anyone, but have discussed this with a lot of people. So I may be.
@Dustin07 , @Rocket3015, @manifesto, @akboom87 @Mikereyn513

Also a few I think may be somewhat interested. @Hyde @GreenMachineX @PFlowReborn

===================================================================

My goals will be fat loss, while maintaining as much muscle mass as possible. I will plan to reach my goals of having abs showing by the 8 week mark just in time for shirtless 4rth of July activities! If for some reason I misjudged what it will take me to get there, I will push to the 12 week mark. I do not think I will need to do this, but if I am really grooving in the process I may decide to push deeper into the cut and go a whole 12 weeks.

Don't be intimidated and not sign up if you are interested. This could be the push and or motivation you need to stick to your efforts and achieve your goals!

My thoughts were to cut down to 189 when I was averaging 195/197 just to balance out 7-8 months of reverse dieting but now that I seem to be at 200.00lbs on the dot I'm not sure I'll cut all the way to 189 in a single month.

So officially subscribing and throwing my entry into the ring today at 200lbs. Plan is to stick to it through May (5 1/2 weeks?)
Goal is ADF, although this week is my first attempt at so much consistent fasting so I want to have a full week of ADF and then assess/adjust if needed.

honestly via the fasting method 189lbs is probably still achievable lol. but my goal is to maintain as much strength as possible so that come June/july when I switch gears back up I'm not starting at 0 again.

Goals: I want to maintain my current body fat, while gaining lean muscle tissue. I'll be tracking my macros. I'd like to be in my best shape ever by this July (body composition wise and the most muscle I've had).

Looking lean AF bro.
Yep, If my abs look this good flexed by the end of this I will be happy! @manifesto, I imagine you aren't flexing them in this picture other than just controlling them.

Not entering, but sub’d to follow!
Welcome Sir! Always good to have you around! You definitely don't need something like this helping you stay accountable. You have proven that over and over again.

Hey gonna give this a whirl, I'm a tallish hardgainer who was throwing weights around periodically for sports in my 20's not consistent for more than a year, but mainly ran track and played Vball and B-ball.. but didn't really learn how to lift for strength, ROM, or pump (hypertrophy) and stretch until mid to late 30's on this board..

Age: 43
Height 6'2"
Weight: 200lbs (approx will post e-scale update next)

Goal: continued long term recomp. Gain and shred. Not extreme bulks but more periodic bulk cycles and lean up with landscaping and rowing machine in TX heat. Hit 210lbs and 9-10% BF steady. Probably at 200/12% or so now.

Challenges: Diet control. I can manage the house / business / lifting and wife helps with the kitchen but I do IIFYM and don't track macros which limits effective tracking. Informal day to day monitoring. Can lift hard, sleep, hydrate, cycle with support, and eat pretty well with protein shakes also, but tracking for strict diet... I need a chef :). Still have a hard time cutting sugar and carbs as much as I need, like a hummingbird I consume.too.much sugar fuels. Stevia and malto helps.

Approach: lift 3-4 days a week ideally 10-11 months of year in reality 7-8 months currently. House and house gym are built and kids are in grade school so hope to boost that up.

TRT = yes via urologist RX. 100mg Test C/week.
Cycles = yes, getting better at knowing which compounds and what blood work markers, etc. Better at cycle support and mitigation of sides, etc. Run 3-4 times per year.

Pics from last week, start point as of now.

@manifesto Looking good to start!

@akboom87 Nice solid frame, deflate that spare tire a bit and you will be right on the Swole Train !!

I will get some pics and info up this weekend!!

Thanks man!! That’s the plan get that 35” spare of my frame and get lean/muscular!!

I was thinking that. Dude has a solid build.
Thanks ! Way back in time when I played hockey and actually trained and young I was pretty solid and then years of physical work. Then the last 6 years of management work has made me grow the wrong way 😂

Apparently he is hung like a horse too. He had to black it out down to his knees.... LMFAO

Awesome! I will be putting mine up this weekend too. I am at 36 hours on this fast now and will be going all day with it. Hoping it isn't a craving filled day like yesterday was. I was abnormally hungry during the first 24 hours. Feeling pretty good so far today. Part of me is like take a picture now before you lose more weight but I ain't stopping or even slowing down this train!

Yep going from an athlete to sedentary without changing eating habits is a quick way to gain weight and catches a lot of slim athletic guys by surprise when they start to slow down and fluff up.

More formally:

April 24th:
Height 5'9"
Weight 200.00
Age 40 (wow that's weird to type)
Goal: Lean up. probably 189lbs. But I will assess after the end of each week.

Plan: currently ADF. again, will asses after each week to determine feasibility of maintaining ADF in a real world lifestyle.

Day 1 results: weighted in at 197.6lbs today. Food was a little off yesterday after a work lunch. Very clean dinner with my wife (huge serving of black cod + veggies) and no alcohol. I'll watch this. if it drops this fast it will help me find out how much of a surplus I can enjoy on lifting days. I'm also prepared for the occasional 48-60hr fast if needed to adjust a date night or social event.

Welcome Sir!!!
Thank you, e-scale start stats here quick breakfast and then chest + tri's day.

What's the format, is this for periodic photo (or scale) progress posts and log regular workouts in normal logs?

Just got morning bloodwork for TRT RX, should be good to go for a gain cycle soon since I'm reasonably lean ATM.

Renpho E-scale saying the following 203 lbs at 14+% BF. Not bad given all the setbacks, starting late, and joining the board originally a skinny /lanky / fat 170lbs and 18% BF or so some years back.

So I need/want to go up to 210 and down to 9-10% but that is where the diet consistency and needing a few more gain/cut cycles to get and hold.

I'm jealous that yours works. I loved my renpho but after the last app update mine rarely connects anymore.

That's wierd, mines a several year old model got back in 2018-2019 before I took a pause on the board... Post that with one star on Amazon they'll probably get back to you?

Format is posting photos bi-weekly, conversation and support. Asking for help if needed, and spurring those on who seem to be falling behind in their efforts. I would keep your training in your log unless you want to discuss some of it here.

we got ours last fall, I loved it. Then they updated the app and it didn't work for a couple weeks. I think I had to delete and reinstall (maybe I'll do that again) then suddenly it stopped synching again and I stopped fussing with it. probably worth getting back into that routine again because I do like how the app gives you a historical log.

Speaking of automating the logging and progress tracking this all requires. Super happy with Strong App - already transitioned all the Tonal 'functional trainer' moves it was missing a few into here. Saves me $700/year In Tonal fees, allows me to add free weights and cardio or anything to the workout log..

Now I can roll between free weights, tonal, or visit a gym on a work trip... And it's all logged, PR tracked into Strong app one workout app to rule them all.

Don't even really miss the Tonal app now, I'm fact You Tube Music + Strong App + Functional trainer (like Tonal or old school cable Cross machines) is all you need. Strong app has rest timer and PR dings* with the blue tooth music apps feels like the gym / Tonal experience.

Invalid Link Removed, this and Renpho scale, Withings blood pressure cuff.. throw in a finger pulse-oximeter and you basically have the nurses checkin station. GTG.

Age :32
Height: 6'1
Weight 255lbs/114-116kg

I need to drop about 15kgs atleast, this is a long term goal, but currently smashing out cardio and HIIT. In between injuries, time off and muscle memory, I am hoping to drop some fat pretty quickly.

Too self conscious of how fat I am to post pictures (I do have muscle shape, but just a flabby gut, hips and lower titties) but I will update if any major progress.

Welcome! I’m in the same boat but we can all keep each other motivated in the journey.

@MrKleen73 Is everyone going to chip in a few bucks and then the winner of the group gets a supp from one of the site sponsors?

I know once before some of us chipped it a supplement from our stash, I would throw in something from Get Diesel, but we need to be careful with international shipping.

Although, I understand the insecurity the pictures definitely do help to motivate you. I would encourage it even if not happy with your current situation. Not being happy about it and committing to the loss is the reason you are doing this and something you should be proud of. Maybe if you can't bring yourself to share them although I hope you do at least take some for your own reference and maybe you will want to post up before and afters at the end showing the progress you made. You won't get anything but support in here Brother!

Well, that is something we could discuss, I still haven't heard anyone else say they want to make this a competiton style thread. If so we could either reach out to someone in a company or provide a supplement ourselves for the prizes as Rocket mentions below. So let's start this discussion. Who wants this to be competition style where we vote to bring a touch of competitive spirit into this? I think it is a great idea, but we need a consensus.

Hell Yeah!
Following along!
Welcome Sir!

Agreed, international shipping could be a problem. I would have to go back and look at that one to see exactly how we did that. Do you remember the name of that thread by any chance?
Good luck to everyone in here. I hope everyone reaches the goals they have.
Thanks, and thanks for hopping on to support!

I will be taking pictures this weekend, but I just completed my 61st hour of a fast this morning, and still going. So hopefully will have an already slimmer body by then. I will post up my goals with the picture of course but it is just to lean up while maintaining muscle mass. I must be able to see my abs by the end. They don't have to be shredded but they have to be visible.

I might join this. For the pictures, what's best? Flexed, held tight, or just completely relaxed?
I really hope you do man! I think whatever you are comfortable with but I will more than likely do some relaxed, and some flexing but cold, no pump. It just helps me get the bigger picture seeing myself both ways. Plus if this turns a little more competitive more pictures to judge from will be better. If anything like the last few, as the thread progresses we will start feeling more confident and posting pics up a little more often just because.

If we go competitive I hope some others get in on this too. Then we can have a natural or cycling group, and a bulking, or transformation group. If anyone knows of others they think would enjoy or benefit from this feel free to mention them in here to get their eyes on it.

Finished 36hr fast this morning immediately grabbed left over steak for a protein and then pounded rice, 2 tortillas, and coffee creamer to start carbing up for todays bench session.

Weight Monday morning 200lbs
Weight this morning 194.6lbs
I know that's water weight, but I ended up drinking 3 saltwater drinks (1/2tspn each) with a little lemon to try to stay hydrated correctly.

I'm in. can I just like venmo or cashapp you as the treasurer to hold funds?

I think you just try to match your before pic, or post in whatever pic makes you happiest with your physique. maybe yoga pants doing RDL's?

Remember to use keyword "NotADadBod" for 10% off my only fans. this month only!!

I did go ahead and take pics. Might reserve the right to share them until the end lol. Found a couple mirrors at home that made me feel pretty good after your dad bod comment but the camera said I'm looking through rose colored lenses so IDK lol 😅😅

Nah man, don't be a wimp! You are in good shape, top 99% of the world even with your new thicker build. That is body dysmorphia grabbing a hold of you, and not something we want to add for everyone or everyone will just opt not to post up pictures. I can see if it someone thinks they are truly obese and ashamed, but that is not you Sir! Suck it up Buttercup!

I think this is the one I won $ @jtmass finished 2nd !!

haha fair enough.
had a doctor consult monday for the snip and all three individuals told me "you obviously lift and are in great shape so you'll have to go really easy that first week". it cracked me up cause they asked "weight" and I thought for a second and realized I had to say 200 for the first time in like 15 years+ lol

Photography trick here. If you want to see in your picture what you see in the mirror then the camera must be at eye level. The way the light and shadows change how visible the contours of your body are quite a bit. When at eye level you see the shadows cast down from the lights and it highlights more but if you are shooting from a counter top or lower your going to look a lot smoother and less defined. So maybe try having the camera higher or have the wife a tak a few shots.

Also just to be clear my comment was that you don't have one and the ideas behind what women and media are starting to call a Dad bod is ludicrous.
