Glutamine

I recall at one time glutamine was a staple for most, and highly recommended, now seems its hardly ever talked about. Just wondering if I missed something. Y the fall from grace? Thoughts? Opinions?

Still shows up in many products, Xtend one of the top sellers:

Vitamin B6 (as Pyroxidine HCI) 10mg 167%
L-Leucine 3.5g **
L-Glutamine 2.5g **
L-Isoleucine 1.75g **
L-Valine 1.75g **
Citruline Malate 1g **

Glutamine is an unsung hero in my book. Absorption can be an issue depending on timing and meal consumption, nevertheless, a supplement I have always used without question.

Some insist it is useless, gets destroyed by stomach acid, competes for absorption with other aminos etc...

Others, such as myself, always keep it around whether in a product such as Xtend or as a stand alone. Great for recovery and indirectly stimulating or supporting the immune system.

Really comes down to personal preference for most.

Yeah everything you said is what I've always known and thought to be true/ it's just I see all these " list your staples" threads and almost no one mentions glut. 5-7 years ago it was right up there with creatine as far how common it seemed... I remember reading skip la cours sup regimen- 10-15g glut like 3 or 4 times a day. I was really curios if a study or something had been done disproving the efficacy of glutamine supplementation

It hasn't fallen from grace. I use it.

It has been added to many supplements now so there is less need to buy it on its own. Many people still use it without even knowing through other supplements.

In my experience, it is an amazing muscle preservative for a cut.

This isn't the anabolic's section, but I'd never run a PCT without it. Really a great muscle preservative. I can't stress that enough.

Exactly what he said. I use 5-10g every night before bed. I feel I get better sleep and it keeps my immune system strong.

What is your timing w/ meal consumption? I take it on an empty stomach before bed. Is that a problem? Or should it be taken w/ meals. I would think an empty stomach is much better.

Again just stick to the bcaa wich is more cost effective.
