Gillette Fusion

Has anyone tried this yet? I grabbed one at the local CVS pharmacy for pretty cheap w/a coupon and just tried it out. It does give a very close shave, though personally I observe it to not be much better than a Mach 3. The added blade creates an odd sensation like the razor is really pulling on my skin, but I didn't get cut so I guess it isn't too bad.

Would I buy another one, or refills for this? Not sure. I will try this every day and see what I think.

I love mine... great all around razor... and the single blade on the back for cleaning up areas is novel.

Yeah, I have one and the good is that they work great on open areas like cheeks and neck but the tighter areas like the upper lip can cause chaffing from all the blades (can't get it shaved in a swipe or two)

You also know when the blade is dull because you have a bunch of blades telling you all at once. I like it but not well enough to pay 8 bucks for 3 razors.

No better than the mach 3. It pulls my hair out if I don't shave for a few days. Not really worth the money or the cost of blades.

Yeah, I tried one and the only thing I liked about it was the extra blade..I'll stick with my Mach 3, it has been the best all around razor I've ever used

The best shave you can get is from a barber. I know it isn't practical, but it's worth it every couple weeks or so if you can and it's right before an event or social gathering. Otherwise, you'd be surprised what a badger hair brush and a single straight razor are capable of, not to mention how cheap a method it is once the initial investment in the brush and razor holder is made.

The Fusion is entirely too big and clunky...like trying to write fine print with a jumbo sized magic marker. And, as others have said it is not really a better shave than the Mach 3.

I decided until Gillette starts making their blades more affordable and/or longer lasting I am boycotting them. $10 for 3 blades is freakin ridiculous.

I like the fusion, but the price is ridiculous, i cannot afford to keep buying razors like that, and in IL. 4 carts is:Invalid Link Removed. In my case AA men have to shave everyday or EOD to avoid razor bumps, so its a no go, i like the straight razor, as I can line my beard and stash, and the french tickler with no prob.

I'm not black, but I have the same problem. pseudofolliculitis barbae or something like that? It sucks for sure. I was getting laser hair removal about every 6 months and it helped a lot, but I'm so darn hairy it kept growing back and I got sick of dropping a few c-notes for each session. But that really is my only option.

Do you have any kind of ointment or aftershave treatment you use to try and minimize the bumping?

I use tea tree oil, which helps out quite well, also Bag Balm can help you out, but its tricky-too much clogs your pores, so you have to find the right amount. My dermatologist used to have an ointment, but it was pricey !!! I would also suggest this :Invalid Link Removed. This stuff is great, as it def takes away the ingrowns and clears up the skin almost in a month.

The straight razor idea is pretty interesting, but I don't know if its good for guys prone to folliculitis. I can't shave against the grain otherwise I get ingrown hairs real bad.

The newer multiblade disposibles are rediculous. Anything more than a Sensor Excell is overkill. To me, the Mach3 doesn't feel good either.

thanks.

Buddy of mine used Magic Shave. Make the mistake of using it on my head. Looked like someone placed an ape's ass on my shoulders.

I'm telling you, it's great. A badger hair brush and a single blade with some decent shaving lather or a shave in the shower does it all.

I have been hoping for a sponsor site start carrying Tend Skin products. Just don't know if there is enough demand.

Tendskin works well, Its just expensive because I do not order online, and in the Beauty Supply house its like 15 bux.

I have a similar problem too. If I shave, I get horrible razor bumps that own my neck. Tea tree oil does a pretty good job. It doesn't completely get rid of it but it takes care of a lot of it. Take it overnight too, that seems to work wonders also.

guys im black (well mixed) and i can get razor bumps worse than anybody the only proven product that i use that makes my skin smoother than a baby ass whether i shave with or against the grain is a product called "skin tight" walk into any black beauty shop and youll see its really popular cause it works.

BMW thanks for the tip, I will look for some of that!

For shaving cream, I prefer a nonconventional stuff called King of Shaves. It never foams so that you can see exactly where you are shaving and get very precise. My girlfriend uses it on her nether regions and loves it as well...which brings me to my next question. Has anyone tried a product called "Coochie Cream"? My GF used to use it when she was a dancer, it's sold in porn type stores and is expensive IMHO unless it's very effective. She said it is just as good if not better than King of Shaves.

BTW an update on the Fusion...while I like it and do agree it gives a close shave on the first pass, it's not much better than a Mach 3 and costs too much more for my tastes, so I will stick with my Mach 3 and save the Fusion for using before special occasions. The costs outweigh the benefits in my opinion.

Gillette is the ONLY razor I use on my face. The price is kind of high but I never rec'ved a razor bump. :afro:

I will buy the "skin tight" and keep it in my medicine box...just in case.

Oh yea, the vibrating Gillette razor is a piece of crap or it doesn't work on black men.
