When texting devices (ones in my budget) were limited (10key) I refused to buy a texting plan with my provider simply because of that aspect of it. Once, seemingly every had a qwerty keybaord, I agree to get an unlimited texting plan. I still communicate with complete words for the most part but I do use it for abbreviated words or terms.
