Everything Fishing - Come On In!!!

Holy crap. What all were you fishing with? I haven't had a day like that in quite some time.

I think I figured out what is wrong with my motor. I believe I just need to make some adjustments to my carburetor. I'm sure it's easier said than done, but my wife will kill me if I take it in somewhere. The labor rate is at least $80 an hour.

We caught all the fish on small white jigs,Nathan. The cats averaged 2 1/2lbs each. The largest bass only went 3/4lb.I kept 5 of the cats for dinner, let the rest back.I had a Suzuki motor once that had 3 carbs.Never could get them dialed in just right.Had a lot of carb problems with my Mercruiser, also.
Thinking about buying a fishing kayak.Any thing motorized always seems to be too much of a hassle.I still have my 55hp Force motor setting in the yard.

Jigs, no spinners? I've never caught a catfish on anything other than some sort of dead meat. I've seen others catch on minnows or dough, though.

I was told that using non-ethanol gas will really help alleviate having carburetor issues. I'm going to pony up and pay the extra in hopes this being true.

Catfish love the white jigs.Something about the color really attracts them.I seldom work a spinner. Some of the guys on the lake were having a lot of success with big bass using the Carolina rig.
I agree on the gas.Ethanol seems to really hurt the performance of a motor.

That's interesting to hear about the cats.

I Carolina Rig a worm fairly often, but I have much better results with crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and variations of beetle/minnowspins.

Caught a lot of bass in the past using rattletraps.I will probably work a few of them this weekend to see if I can hook a lunker largemouth.

That's a damn good day to me

My fishing partner was a guide in Florida and Costa Rica for a combined 10 years.I have never never seen any one who can catch as many fish as this guy.We caught them all on white jigs. Before I met him I would have never believed you could catch catfish on jigs.

I was supposed to go out yesterday with some good buddies of mine, but I couldn't make it. They ended up catching about 30 between the two of them. Just for a reference, my buddy is close to 6'0" and somewhere between 250-260 (he's lost like 65 pounds in the past year).

Pix or it didn't happen. ;)

Here's your chance for show and tell. I like seeing anything related to the outdoors. I should have made the thread for outdoors stuff, not just fishing. Post up some pix once you start landing some!

this year is a slow start, wife gave birth this past winter....

Understandably, so. LOL.

Congrats!

Do you go out for trout, too? I remember going out for trout when I lived up north.

nope all bass....fishing in the morn and wake/tube/knee boarding into the evening...i have a few shimano bantam sf's and with the water content i usually use a zoom black or scuppernong worm. on a good day we can bring in roughly 8-10 small mouth under 5 lbs but an occasional 5-6 lber

Nice. I wish we had Smallies down here. They don't get as big as our Florida LMB, but they're so aggressive.

That's awesome! What was the total weight of these three? Are they are all three the same species of cat? The two on the right look like flat heads, but I can't really tell.

1 was a blue cat n the others r flat heads, idk wat the total weight was I don't ever weigh em unless they're big, was kinda dissappointed we didn't get ne big 1s but it was the 1st time we went this year and the water is still cold as hell

I never thought about water temperatures while noodling.

My buddy backed a boat trailer off of a ramp once. It was New Years Eve and we had to get in the water to get it out. Granted, we're in Florida, but the water was still in the high 40s or low 50s. We laugh about it now, but it was pretty unpleasant at the moment, lol.

old pics from a few summers ago, started going back this year doing the same thing, fish in the morn and play in the afternoon

That sounds like a fun day. I've never tried any sort of water sports.

we do it every year, every summer.....luckily summer weather lasts 8-9 months here. landing is 15 minutes from the house, in those pics the gators dont get too close but a mile further down they average 9 gators to every 1 person

I don't think I would ever water ski. You really have to trust the guy driving the boat and for some reason when I see guys water skiing and I see the guy driving the boat he never looks like someone I would trust and is always drinking a beer.

we knee board and wake board.....gaming officials are real strict with alcohol and operating a boat over here.....the driver is arrested and boat impounded for 3 months minimum

Been working a lot of hours.Haven`t got the chance to get out near as much as we did last year. Finally got the weekend free to take my youngest nephew fishing. He caught a couple of cats that went about 2 1/2lbs each.He also missed 3 large ones.First one bent his hook back.Second one snapped his leader. He almost landed the third one before it shook free of the hook.

I haven't been out at all. I did manage to take my girls out in the ganoe(sp?) it was so windy i had the hardest time just cruising. Sid see a lot of yearling bass, hopefully I can get out soon. I did pick up some line, been needing to reline my real for a while.

I just had this same conversation with one of my fishing buddies early this morning. "I haven't made it out nearly as much as I did this time last year. I'm just too busy!"

Life happens!

Next week end it's on going to stay in a cabin near the beach.... That mean some early fishing and some surf fishing.

Nathan I should have come towards the west coast and dragged you out. You and the wife can meet me over near Daytona .... She can help my wife with the kids and you can help me fish.

Haha. Heck yeah! I've never been surf fishing. I'm going to see if I can get my buddy to send me his fishing pix from last week. He caught a **** ton of Red Fish and a Black Tip.

I got an extra pole.... Just saying. Getting both of them relined this week end. Consider it a road trip/open invitation.

Yep,better too much work than no work.Have to pay bills to have some fun.

Sorry to hear that. I feel your pain, though. I worked yesterday, I'm work now, and I work tomorrow. :D

Wife got me a hotel over in Astor for two nights for just me and her. Anniversary and fathers day present to me. Can't wait I got a friend of mine going we are going to hook up with to do some serious salt water fishing!

Nate, I might invite but I don't want to show favoritism.

My motor for my john boat is ****ed up, i have no idea whats wrong with it, like when you put it in gear it'll cut off unless the chokes on, it's weird. Anyways i haven't really caught anything special lately, some brim, crappie, and some decent sized bass. Just been fishin' in ponds near where i live in NC, haven't made it to the beach yet. Maybe make a trip there in the next few weeks? Who knows.

Pond across from my place is just now getting back to normal levels, been pretty dry around here. Last couple of weeks it has been gaining good.

Had a little luck Saturday.Caught a 6lb cat and 2 small ones but not much else.A couple of guys fishing about 20 yards away caught a 10lb largemouth on buzzbaits.

Very nice. I am going fishing this weekend wife decided to surprise me,..... I ly reason he said anything I for to get my freshwater renewed and get my saltwater for next weekend.

You guys are making me so jealous. I can basically walk to the closest LAKES around me, yet I can't seem to find the time to make it out.

That is a HYOOOGE Crappie! What state are you in and what did you catch that on?

I caught a 2.5 pound crappie the other night. Biggest I've seen. I'll try to post a pic.
