Douchebags at the gym...

Lol :sausage:
You said sausage your all right jim :P
Surely this is flogging a dead horse by now? People have spent the last few pages haranguing this guy for telling some little guy who came up to him and told him off for something that could or could not have been dangerous to f off. Its open to interpretation. I'm sure most of the guys I consider dbags at the gym could probably pick something about me that pisses them off too. But at the end of the day, you can't really get the full story from a paragraph of text, so lets all move on lol. Here is an emoticon of a banana:

veryy true :)

There a guy, who every friday supersets shoulder presses and 135lb squats. My gym only has one squat rack, and the shoulder press is on the other side of the gym. He thinks because he leaves his water bottle next to it, the squat rack is his for as long as the bottle is there. One morning he was bs'ing at the shoulderpress and I got fed up, and just started loading weight on the bar. He walks up to me and tells me "I was using that, I even had my water bottle there." I kicked his water bottle across the gym and started repping out 200lb+ full squats (no warm up, dumb but I was pretty pumped lol) without acknowledging he was still there. By the time I finished my set he was gone, and he now leg presses every friday instead.

I fail to understand how that makes him a dbag. Couldn't be any more of a dbag than other people that go to the gym and do cardio....

When you jump rope for an hour, staring at yourself in the mirror, with your neon pink shoes on, doing little tricks like side jumps, with that super serious look on your face, and your not cut to ribbons, well maybe you need to drop the rope and pick up a weight.

That's the exercise he likes to do though. Is he in your way or something because other wise I would say he's in pretty good shape because jump roping is tiring and being able to consistently do it for an hour is pretty challenging. If someone wore neon shoes on the treadmill ran for an hour and was serious about their training would that bother you?

Lol yes. This is my thread now.

I'm not calling him a douche I just don't see how jump roping makes someone a douche anymore than doing another form of cardio at the gym.....

yupppers you have a point, but no one cares when im sitting here taking a poop its a good way to sprnd the time. there is no need to go on a crusade for the undouchebagerdy of the subject of a story from a stranger on the internent because in all reality you dont matter to me, i dont to you, and this tale to neither of us. so read these, have a good laugh and dony be the defender for all that is good in the world

Right. I dont feel the need to defend people I dont know on the Internet. Join my gym and then you can interject your defense of Capt. Jumprope. Every gym has douchebags. My gym is no different.

So who was the d bag in this situation?

Maybe me, maybe both of us...but in my gym theres a handful of guys who "claim" 2-3 pieces of equipment at a time, and even if you ask to work in they have problems with it. If I have to be somewhat of a d-bag to get my workout done in an acceptable amount of time so be it.

You could have also bolded the part about him bs'ing on the other side of the gym, not using the piece of equipment he "claimed", but that probably would make your statement weaker.

Gym Douchebag Thread Starters - not just you, there have been dozens over the years. Mind your own business in the gym. The world is full of douchebags and the only thing worse than a douchebag is someone who actually believes that they are a superior individual and do not embody douchebag behavior characteristics themselves.

I agree with this. But some of the topics in this thread are not a matter of minding your own business. If the Douchebaggery keep you from doing your workout by tieing up equipment or something of that nature, than said Douchebaggery needs to be dealt with swiftly. I go out of my way to be respectful and not interfere with other peoples training. I am polite, I'll ask to work in, and if someone else asks me I never refuse. If that person is a lot stronger/weaker than myself, I have no problem moving plates on and off the bar with them, moving loaded bars up or down a pin to account for height, whatever it takes for everyone to have a good workout. I don't tie up squat racks and such with movements I can easily do off the floor. These examples don't fit the mind your own business standard

You missed the point of my post. The gyms and forums are full of douchebags.

I see douchebags. They don't know they're douchebags.

I did miss your point.

I can deal with douchebags looking silly, doing dumb things. I don't even really notice them. Its the a-holes screwing up other people workouts and wasting other peoples time that bother me.

Although just the other day I did notice a guy that did like 20 sets of curls. He did almost every biceps movement I have ever seen, drop sets, supsets, everything. I bet he had DOMS like a mofo the next day, and will get next to no gains from his workout.

I didnt because that would of made you look even worse, considering that you KNEW he wasnt done and decided to take the machine anyway when You could just asked to working while he was supersetting if the DB shoulder press really is on the other side of the gym you would of had plenty of time.

Instead you just said f*** it took and started using the rack and then when he came back you thought it would be a good idea to kick is water bottle across the gym(Which I'm pretty sure the gym wasnt empty) and then do 200lb squats right infront of guy

You pretty much intmidated the guy considering he now uses the leg press. And all that could of been avoided if you just asked if you could work in.Now I understand that they may have a problem with it but thats were you can be the d-bag to get back at them and say "tough s**t"

I asked the guy once before about working in, he told me he didn't have time to wait for me because he had to go to work (ironically we both work out at 5AM, and the gym is practically empty). I even told him if he just did shoulder presses I would probably be done by the time he was done with them and then he could do his squats, and the time would probably be about the same, and he declined. As for intimidating him, I doubt that, the guy is much larger than I am and other than legs, which he does half ass, the guy lift much more than I do.

NOTHING you or anyone else does at the gym matters to me until it effects my workout. In that case, like yourself, I assert myself politely and respectfully, and move on. Not even worthy of key strokes on a message board.

Those same douchebags keep logs here. Have you seen some of the excessive amounts of reps and sets and exercises these guys do for a single body part?

They are hardcore douche killers too :D

I very much agree with this. If someone hogs equipment I ask politely to work in with them or wait until they are finished.

Recently the weirdest thing happened to me. I had the smith machine loaded up for calf raises and just as I was about to start my first set someone started unloading the plates and taking them to his EZ bar.

He wasn't very gym savvy and when I pointed this out he seemed quite offended.

I still hates the guy that waits awkwardly. Today a guy was waiting for the cables and sat there with his head in his hand waiting for it. Irritates me

how about the dj headphones while working out?

Lol. You know I am about to join this club. I have 3 sets of earbuds and none of them drown out the #%*%ty music they play at my gym. Worse is that the spinning studio is right next to the squat rack. I want to have 100% focus on my workout and be in my own world, so was thinking of getting some over-ear beatz.

Is this considered douchebaggery now? On the same scale as wearing underarmor as public clothing, for example?

well the only reason I hate it is because the dude that my fiance cheated on me with had these headphones on when he worked out.... so everytime I see the dj headphones I wanna smash there face in lol..... even though the sound would be amazing while working out lol....

That's funny, I saw 2 guys at my gym today wearing them. I mean I have a big enough problem with the ear buds and the wire hanging around that I don't even like to use headphones

I can't imagine wearing those huge things while lifting

I know this has been brought up already BUT--- I HATE WHEN SOMEONE STANDS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DUMBELL RACKS JUST TO DO SOME GAY LOOKING BICEP CURLS, OR SHRUGS
PLEASE just take 2 steps back so other people can get their weights and not have to wait for your noodle arms to finish. Also we don't need to watch your horrible form it just makes me more mad.
And dont stand there in silence waiting for me to be done with the equipment... If you want to use it, say something- ask to work in, or ask how many sets I have left. Don't stand there like a sad puppy.

What else.... Hmm

Oh guys with ****tee form... Look around, there's a reason your body looks like ****, because your form sucks, lol

The kids who do chest and biceps only

The lady that talks to everyone n doesn't shut up
( no one cares that your cat is diabetic)

The Fattys that do cardio all the time but are still fat? What the hell fix your diet

The high schoolers that come in groups and stand around usually directly in my way

The kid who looks like a twig but tries to lift real heavy and does 1/4 reps. Just stop, your not strong yet and you will hurt yourself.

I just switched gyms last Friday and things kept coming up over the weekend so I wasn't able to go until last night. It's also beentwo or three weeks since I've been do to a slight motorcycle oops. First time at new gym and trying to get used to things so I'm on a bench press machine doing all of 100 lbs. Dude walks by and says "Why do you even bother?" I stopped for a second and thought about it, shrugged, and then started again. I wasn't really sure what to say.

What an ass talking to you like that. Yesterday was my first day back in a little while and I took my friend with me who never goes. This guy who is ON was doing a set of preacher curls but after he would walk a lap around the entire gym, every time. My friend got pissed at this for some reason

People need to learn to stay out of my bubble while I'm in the gym, I don't like people in my little bubble. Seriously though people at my new gym seem to walk awkwardly close to you, and at the most inopportune times. I'll be mid squat and someone tries to sneak in between squat racks, or be getting ready to do some DB Flyes and someone stands almost directly next to my bench leaving it impossible to do flyes. And at any given moment there is always at least 3 people sitting down just straight staring at whoever is actually getting there work in.

Every single day i go into my gym i see the same guy curling in the squat rack with just the bar... EVERY TIME!

people have told him numerous times but he doesnt listen.

Theres another guy who uses two benches to lie on... Puts one horizontally by his head and the other horizontally by his feet. (thres no bench supporting his back)

Then proceeds to bench press ridiculous weight that he cant lift for even one rep (someone has to spot him) and does this exercise for 6 sets!

i work at a gym so most work outs i get in befor im on the clock so i get my fill of em all day if i miss my wrk-out in the am i hit the gym rite by my house, the guys i work for have a few local's. so i get to see em over there to.ok, try and follow this.the fan guy,he takes a monster fan fan out of one room drags it over to where he will do 10 minutes of cardio.he is also the coat guy, hangs is coat over the sitting leg press no matter whos on it. he is also the guy who props up every piece of eqtmt he uses (even though it dose nothing to inprove things) and of course he leaves it that way. this is also the guy who go's into the back room to find my wd-40 or try to fix the wi-fi stuff for his lap top he leaves on the coffee table charging for hours(he go's out to lunch and comes back to douch some more). this is one man my friends!! he has many faces.

I'm not sure the point of this. Didn't take them off. Left them on the whole time. He spent most of his workout texting on his phone or perhaps trying to find the right song to listen to, but the sunglasses? Really?

Try this one: why the flip you going to CLEAN your sneakers in the middle of sets? Why???
What part of your sneakers, and for what exercise? I often rub my hands on the bottom of my shoes to get the dirt on my hands. This is somewhat similar as using chalk on your hands to have a better grip on things.

I know how you feel. People always seem to walk directly behind me when I'm doing Deadlifts or Snatches.

This guy has on Steve Maddens, takes out a brush, takes them off and starts to scrub them..he was doing db shrugs..I couldn't help but laugh at him. Why would you wear shoes like that to the gym? They weren't even gym appropriate.

Maybe I'm getting old , but what is the deal with the neon colored sunglasses? I see them everywhere especially on hipsters.
Looks kinda dumb.

I look at it as a few reps of curls between sets. Maybe it helps keep me sane, or maybe I just care so little after work that nothing bothers me.
