Russian missiles can hit anywhere in the world at the touch of a button. Russia has hypersonic missiles we have no chance to stop.

I just saw Zelenskyy's speech to the EU to try to join them. That dude is a true leader at a time in crisis.

Now I gotta watch that other guy (I forgot his name, buy the one all those dead people voted for) address the State of the Union tonight, really sad.

I would suggest one possible win-win solution....

We offer the pledge that Ukraine does not get into NATO, and does not host NATO offensive weapons. Russia pulls out of Ukraine entirely and immediately, including Crimea and Donbass. And THEN we end sanctions so that Russia's economy doesn't collapse.

The #1 reason for Russia to use nukes is in defense of mother Russia's survival. Show them the door... a way out to let Ukraine stay free and Russia to survive.

Back it up with a UN resolution in support of a free Ukraine (happening Wednesday?).

If not... then free countries of the world come to the aid and defend Ukraine. Pledge not to cross the border into Russia or Belarus. But make it very clear that their planes and armor operating in Ukraine are subject to attack.

Thats a great idea and I hope so, thats what I had in mind the entire time in fact. Maybe pulling out of Crimea and Donbass might be a sticking point, but is it even worth it at this point?

The one thing to factor is how much of an influence does the natural resources come in to play. Another thing about Ukraine I ran into later after my post yesterday is that Ukraine has possible the 14th largest natural gas reserves in the world that can be tapped and sent to Europe cutting off dependency off of Russia. There is alot of money in that country.

russia has a population of 146 million....after all is said and done the russian economy is going to be in ruins-i heard this morning that the ruble is worth a penny...we are going to be responsible for a entire country just like we were with germany/japan WW2--have the people in charge thought about the people of russia and what it is going to cost post ukraine?


we all have our opinions, but personally i believe putin does have mental illness, i don't see him being in charge much longer--i would bet that we and our allies are talking with the top russian military about removing putin-this is what is see happening.

that thermal bomb violated the geneva convention...i see either russian generals removing putin or we talk with russian generals and get their agreement on removing putin....one way or another i see this being resolved with the removal of putin.

with the russian top military onboard a strategic strike would end it.

under the rules set forth by the geneva conventions, the use of thermobaric weapons could be a violation of protocol III, which stipulates that incendiary weapons are prohibited in any location where 'a concentration of civilians--such as in inhabited parts of cities, or inhabited towns or villages may be present.

But I would argue that a thermobaric / F.A.E. isn't really an incendiary device at all. Not like our Napalm in Vietnam, or our fire bombing Dresden Germany. Are we now war criminals??

Agreed. And that's not to undermine other conflicts around the world, but it is possible to care about more than one thing at a time.

Ordinary Russians aren't bad people - many thousands have been arrested for speaking out against the invasion, but ultimately the invasion has the potential to escalate into another world war.

I can imagine and easy 100s of thousands of Russians would already be protesting this senseless war all at the same time if they didnt have the threat of arrest simply for speaking out and having a peaceful protest. Maybe millions I dunno, but once the body bags start returning shyt is going to get real for alot of people sadly.

Nuclear equipped subs are pretty much always on high alert. I think the main difference is that changing the alert status puts other groups on alert that usually wouldn't be. Like long range bombers.

And 100% you are right, nukes based in Belarus are no different to nukes based in Russia.

My opinion is simply my opinion, shared for the possible benefit derived from my military background, engineering degree, and a genuine interest in reading/writing/research.

I also believe that man has in fact landed on the moon. If you can't reach a solid conclusion on the big obvious stuff, how will you ever sort through the daily news and horrors of war?

In the case of Ukraine, I admire that the people are staying to fight for their land and their freedom.... basically alone against Russia's massive war machine. Where the afghans ran back to their caves after we spent 20 years fighting for their freedom.

I despise politically correct speeches with slogans and empty promises. The Zelensky video messages are from the heart and brought even jaded European politicians to their feet and the interpreter nearly to tears. Not off a script, but spoken by a leader who may have only days left to live. What would you say to world leaders when facing almost certain death??? I could only hope to carry myself in such a way and send such a noble and patriotic message!!

I don't see Putin turning back, nor the Ukranian people giving up anytime soon. Tanks are really rolling into Ukraine and it's going to be horrific.

If you wonder if Zelensky is the real deal, watch our idiot leader tonight struggle to read words off a teleprompter without his teeth flopping out....

Zelensky years ago as a comedian/entertainer dancing around like a chick in heels? No different than Justin Timberlake doing a similar dance with Beyonce on SNL. Bah. I wouldn't ever do it myself, and would change the channel. But I also see Zelensky now dressed in a flak jacket, standing with his people, as Russian soldiers hunt him down to capture or kill him.

For who I generally align with, it's mostly Trump and the MAGA principles. I don't give a rats ass about any Clinton (or Bush) and certainly not Soros! No more career politicians of any breed/brand. Again another plus for Zelensky!

I'm kinda skeptical, the year prior to getting Russian technology we could only push a monkey into the upper atmosphere. Long way from traveling 200 miles orbiting a planet, landing etc...
