Squats;

3 sets 1 rep 330lbs

GM's;
3 sets 7 reps

Recorder every set, even warm ups, and depth is the same in the video. Even slowly them down and being aware depth was still equal to video, at least better than what it was. Definitely a hip mobility issue and since I have not been hitting the right depth will be strength too. Knowing how crappy my squats actually are wish I did not sign up for the meet but since paid for it will do it anyways. Going to consider all my squats number for the last 6 months as garbage numbers and just move forward.

Slept like 7 hours over a 50 hour period and workout was so bad cut it short. Depth is still an issue and thinking of reducing working weight by about (-50lbs) and just concentrate on learning to squat again. Video of last set.

Imo the squats with you in the grey pants were deep enough to get whites in a meet in any fed other than IPF.

Thanks for the encouragement. Used to squat a tad bit lower and would feel a lot better to get back to that again. That way will have a little wiggle room.

Not going to run anything specific for squats just going to do the same layout as today and hopefully add 5 to 10lbs each week. Speed last 2 weeks has been pretty bad so been missing a couple workouts and the ones I did get in were not to good. Hopefully this week can turn it around.

Worked a double on Friday and Sunday so missed my workout on Sunday and was going to make it up on Monday but was to worn down. Today is my Friday so usually don't sleep when I get home in the morning so was up for around 20 hours the time I hit the gym. Was expecting a horrible dead session and considering everything ended up being really good.

sometimes I amaze myself with some workouts in the same way...there are times when I'm so sleep deprived, I should have no business thinking about weights, and yet I adapt and find a way...us night creatures are a diff breed!

Forgot how bad my last meet was, deads/ squats ended up around 25-30lbs off what I projected. See no reason besides bench, which I am still building back up, I cannot beat my lifts. Since 4th attempts don't count for total and if I used my 3rd attempts these are the numbers to beat:
Squat: 369.3 (374 4th)
Bench: 292.1 (303.3 4th, Red lighted. Said left elbow dipped)
Dead: 448.6 (457.5 4th)
Total: 1,110

Trying to lose body fat anyways but doubt will be in a position to drop down to 165lb weight class. If I happen to be around 176 to 178 at 2 weeks out and lift are doing good just might but right now cannot see it.

2nd Attempt, 360lbs. Felt did not hit a good depth when doing it and still think would be borderline.

One thing I noticed is my back is pretty straight so probably not pushing hips back enough/ sitting back. Also need to make my mind up on which wraps I am going to use. Next week will do same singles but use Metal Black and make a decision then.

Probably should not have done 2 sets of deads at my top set but wanted to see the difference between conv/ sumo. My best pull was in conv and most my training now for the most part is conv. In conv I am stronger off the floor but weaker at locking out and sumo is the reverse, hard off the floor and easier to lock out. Think if I would have been doing rack pulls conv is a stronger lift for me so at this point still up in the air which way I will pull at the meet.

The opener on the 18th moved like a knife through warm butter. I also think it was just the angle of the video that made your second look like it was even close. With a judge at parallel height to your thigh that is gonna get whites man.

I'd suggest doing like you mentioned and continuing with conv pulling for the comp. Id say give yourself at least 8-10 weeks to nail down the technical aspects of sumo before going into a comp if youve never pulled sumo before. You be able to put pounds on the bar solely because your technique improves.

Last meet I did the judges were all over the place and hoping they just call the same throughout. My last bench they said my left elbow dipped and red lighted me but seen a lot worse benches getting green. Sumo is my normal full time pull but since I switched my training up and it is more focused on conv was curious has they both stack up.

Think I just screwed myself with squats this meet. Last week was only suppose to do singles but decided to push it and do doubles. This week paid the price and doubt I could have hit 350lbs for a single. Did the same thing last meet about 3 to 4 weeks out pushing it past the numbers I had for the week and never recovered. Told myself this meet would not make the same mistake and yet here I am again. Overall the workout was pretty easy and did what I was suppose to do so hopefully not to screwed and can recover a little.

You SHOULD feel like shît and be close to missing reps this close to a meet. And definitely shouldn’t be prioritizing overhead press over competition bench, so feel glad that you didn’t do that. The goal is to time your peak and deload to where you’re supercompensated come meet day. Keep grinding through tomorrow then focus solely on recovery. Next week - you shouldn’t touch a weight >80% of opener on Monday then nothing more than 50% on Wednesday. Then you’re done until meet day aside from any active recovery modalities you want to do.

Thanks for the advice. Plus side is yesterday was not that hard even though my last set was so that should help for recovery. Was hard not trying to PR both OHP and RDL but with my luck could see me getting hurt. Already feeling a little beat up so de-load is coming at a perfect time.

Worked up to 90% of my opener, 425lbs, and felt really good. Stared lowering my carbs yesterday, 60 grams, and will continue to lower each day. Usually Friday - Sundays are my heaviest days of the week so not surprised to see 190lbs today, plus increased my water to around 1.5 gallons.

Figure worst case I leave 25 to 30lbs off the bar for squats and deads end up sucking but right now it is a chance I am willing to take.

Meet Recap

Had to cut a little weight on Thursday. Woke up at 185lbs and knowing I had to work through the night and be up for 14 hours until weigh in I dropped down to 177.5lbs to give myself wiggle room to have some fluids. Weighed in at 179lbs on Friday morning and Saturday before leaving for the meet was back up to 190lbs.

Squats:
Opener: 325.2lbs
2nd Attempt: 352.7lbs
3rd Attempt: 380.3lbs
4th Attempt: 391.3lbs**State record so was allowed a 4th attempt and hit it pretty good. Really think I had another 20 to 25lbs in me.

Original plan was to go light and just not try to hard on squats but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Bench:
Opener: 264.6lbs
2nd Attempt: 275.6lbs
3rd Attempt: 292.1lbs
4th Attempt: 303.1lbs**Took a gamble and stalled halfway up. Was happy since 280lbs was my goal

Deads:
Last warm up was at 345lbs and moved really slow so knew deads was not going to be good. Actually had doubts I would hit my opener and I actually didn't.
Opener: 424.4lbs**2 reds, was told I did not lock my knees out
2nd Attempt: 451.9lbs**1 red so good lift but again was told one of my knees was a soft lock out
3rd Attempt: 474lbs**Went for my PR and almost had it

A little disappointed in the meet but considering when I set my meet PR's for deads/ squats was 5 years younger and 32lbs heavier cannot complain to much. Had a chance on an off day with deads to PR them so cannot complain there and was within striking distance to PRing my squats, 424lbs. No deads until October and if I do RDLs will be light work. Squats will take a few weeks off and bench a couple weeks to will do more hypertrophy work probably until October.

Congrats!! ...man that 4th Squat mooooooved...definitely had plenty more.... not sure how you can feel any bit of disappointed in the meet bro...without the 4th attempts, you woulda been 8/9...as good as it gets..congrats again!

Incline Press;
2 sets 4 reps 185lbs, 200lbs
2 sets 3 reps 215lbs, 230lbs
2 sets 2 reps 245lbs, 255lbs
1 set 1 rep 265lbs

CGBP Incline Press;
4 sets 7 reps

Flat Dbl Press;

Last set of Inclines felt pain in the left shoulder where I injured it last year around this time. Looking back at my logs seems at the time was doing heavy Incline presses. Think will no longer be doing Incline presses but the CGBP did feel good.

Bench is almost back up to were it was before my injury around this time last year. Guess the plus side of carrying around all this extra weight.

Going to rotate my wraps and that will be part of the overload/ adding weight for my blocks each week. Hate my Inzer Grippers so at least this way will get some use out of them. Next week will used Titan Sig. Gold and at some point will be getting Metal Orange wraps to add to the mix.
