Craft Beers / Microbrews: What Are You Drinking?

I don't really do IPA's either because of the overwhelming hoppy notes, but one really hoppy beer I like is Boulevard's Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale. I had some Pumking not long ago, Piston. I was pleasantly surprised. If I'm in the mood for something a little more like pumpkin pie I like O' Fallon's Pumpkin and my middle ground (my personal favorite) is Schlafly Pumpkin Ale. It has more of a maltier body with a kind of chestnut finish. One thing I'm missing about summer are the ales. Especially all the different Heferweizens! I went to a bacon, bourbon, and beer tasting at the beginning of the month for an epic cheat day and one beer that really stood out to me was a brown ale by Big Sky called Moose Drool.

[Edit] I almost failed to mention that all of the coffee/breakfast stouts are coming back around now, which I could not be more excited about! Founders, Schlafly, and my local Mother's Brewery make the best coffee/breakfast stouts I've ever had.

Pretty sure the Allagash Tripel I posted above is $9.99 at Wegman's currently

The Allagash Tripel is by far the best Tripel I've had, hands down. Their white is also absolutely divine. The coriander in it is perfectly strong, simply amazing. I'm not a big fan of the dark beers but the duble is pretty damn good too.

Oh ****, and their Special Reserve is the Tripel in whiskey barrels and it is phenomenal.

Can't wait for some Krampus for winter

I find that stronger craft beers, especially stouts, are more palatable and express their best flavor if you drink them in a glass just above room temperature.

The right glass for the right beer too

One of Buffalo's best

Have you guys had Christmas Ale from Great Lakes Brewing company? People here go ape **** for it. I can't remember if I've ever had it or not. It's supposed to release here soon

Only Great Lakes I've had was Nosferatu.

My dad loves the Old Fezziwig that Sam Adams packages in holiday 12 packs. Can't say I have too many Xmas/holiday beers I look forward to.

Might be my last one for the year I saw a lot of winter beers on the shelf already.

Yeah, I saw a bunch of Christmas beers yesterday too. I welcome those as much as the October fall beers.

I'm a fan of many of these, especially the 60 Minute IPA. Funny thing is, I was never really an IPA fan until I tried these. Probably helps add to the aura that it's made where I grew up.

Doesn't look like anyone else did either. I can't believe no one else here watches TWD.

Picked up some Barrel-Aged Narwhal today, getting awesome reviews so I stocked up on what's reportedly a fairly limited-item run. Anxious to try it, especially as the snow starts falling harder here in WNY.

Also picked up an Allagash Tripel Curieux and some Westbrook Gose which is unbelievable to me that it's still available this late in the year.

What people spend on a bottle of decent wine, I spend on a limited craft beer. The Narwhal and Allagash was $20 a bottle. Time to sip the winter away...

Lol, I sometimes feel the same way. I did find a locally brewed limited edition brew in what I think was a 24 oz bottle. They wanted $12 for it! As much as I've been wanting to try this, I just couldn't justify spending that kind of cash on one bottle. Lol.

Found this one today at a very well stocked gas station down the road. $13 for a 4 pack! My Bud Light buddies would never understand. Lol

I'm punishing myself after watching my Giants lose another one today.

Sipping on this sunday. Pats all the way as well.

Give me a description on this beer. I find Saisons to vary wildly in quality from one brewery to the next

Super bubbly and golden in color. Similar to champagne. Was bottle conditioned. It had a yeast cake in the bottom. you had to pour it ff like a homebrew. Had a huge head on the beers. The taste was fruity and lemony. It had a smooth finished. I liked it but it was a bit bubbly My friend brought it over before the football game.

The saison from boulder brewing company is fantastic. Obviously a different brewery but something to keep in mind.

I liked the Funkwerks saison better than Boulder Brewing but Boulder Brewing was great too

Well to be fair, its the only one i tried. Boulder beer rep girl loaded me up on em, covered my bar tab, and didnt tell me they were > 10% abv. At least she had the courtesy to take me back to her place...
