Craft Beers / Microbrews: What Are You Drinking?

Lol, I'm cutting back on the brewski's now too. Too many IPA'S has packed on too much size around the waist. Light beer is not pleasing to me, so I'll just maybe enjoy 1 or 2 on the weekend.

This is stout/porter season, so I usually cut back to begin with.

It's my favorite beer season, so cutting back is tough... I may have already failed

I'll raise my Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence to you

The hype is real! Oh my god. It's bourbon masquerading as beer! Down the hatch and you can feel the heat and some of it even ends up in your nose. Awesome beer!

Warmer weather means Gose season and maybe a Sahti if I'm feeling sassy

I've never been big on summer beers, always been a fall/winter beer guy... This is a sad time of year where I just save $ and drink Mexican piss (corona)

Holy **** im so happy I found this thread.

Flight beers are all Wisconsin microbrews.

A lot of IPA/APA love in here.

Living in San Diego we have so many craft breweries here its like being a kid in a candy store but hands down if you ever get a chance to drink this beer do it Invalid Link Removed

Bumping an old post - this was an AMAZING beer; strong on the coffee grounds taste but smooth for a 10% beer. Will definitely be picking this up again

I'll be on the lookout for that Rogue. Saving an Ommegang to celebrate for our first child!

Piston Honda what's your favorite summer beer?

Westbrook "Gose"

Anderson Valley "The Kimmie, The Yink, and the Holy Gose"

Ritterguts "Gose"

Freigeist Bierkultur "Geisterzug"

Offcolor "Troublesome"

--basically any Gose style; low alcohol and thirst-quenching. Salty, tart, makes you want to drink more! Think of why margaritas have salt and lime around the rim - makes you want more.

went to a local brewery called "Breakers Brewery" and they had a PB chocolate beer, it's right up there with sweet baby jesus if not better

went to a get together this past saturday and was asked if i wanted a beer, i said yeah but no IPA, they gave me "Old Forge Brewery, Hopsmith IPL"...i really don't know how ppl drink that kind of crap...i had a hops taste in my mouth even the next day

Hop-heavy beers and tastes seem to be pretty much an American thing...I sure can't get into it. Some peoples' palates pick up citrus from hops but for me it's all pine and nastiness. To me it doesn't seem to require a lot of skill to just add a ton of hops and resin; where's the nuance? where's the skill?

my thoughts exactly...i picked up pine and herbs from it, but my buddies dad always says it tastes like grapefruit juice and he hates grapefruit juice

i mentioned it before but the same guy went to a few breweries in california and the guy told him IPA's came from bad brewers who made a crappy product and just added a bunch of hop to it, then it somehow took off...i just hate checking out local breweries and half their list is ipa's, totally kills a lot of options for me

1L of the Berghoff dark

How was it?

Real good. A tad too carbonated for me to drink a lot of, but i really dont like carbonated drinks since i tend to be a chugger rather than a sipper. Id say it was a nutty dark lager. Not dark and thic,k but not watery and piss-like like a light lager.

Isnt Yuengling in PA..?

I've never understood the love of that beer. Seems like all the bars in the Florida panhandle serve it. It's decent, but nothing to write home about. Lol

I love it, but maybe more for the fact its so rare for me to have one. For the same price as a bud light it's a no brainer

it's big where i'm from NEPA, you don't need to say you want yuengling, just order by saying lager

like you said it's decent but not the best..however i've been down south and ppl act like it's a special kind of beer

Down south, people revere PBR and drink it by the donkeydïck (22 oz cans)

I had a nice Cuveè des Jacobins Rouge today with the meal my parents brought over.

Why did they bring a meal over?

Because today we brought Baby Honda home from the hospital; all 10lbs, 4 oz and 22 1/4" of her.

Congrats

An old friend came up from flordia and he said they drink some stuff compareable to Pbr with some long hard to pronounce name but in those big cans

In two or three weeks I'm heading up to the finger lakes ny for wine, but some places have breweries too, last time I wasn't impressed with the beer, let's see how it is this time around

Had that last night. I loved it.

Left Hand doesn't make a bad beer

Ballast Point Victory at Sea is in the running for the best beer I drank this past year

went to the finger lakes this weekend, lots of wine which isn't what this thread is about

had some warhorse peacebomber beer, which is beer that is made with reisling grapes, it was ok

but the cider up there called bombshell which was really good

off topic again: but the distillery up there makes a really good rye whiskey which i took advantage of

Not as tart/sour as I expected for a Berliner Weisse. Ithaca's Cayuga Cruiser was better. I love Freigeist's Goses however. Had their Abraxxas once but smoked beers aren't my style. It was like drinking kielbasa!
