Comfortable shoes

Lately I've been spending more and more time on my feet at work.

I've gone through the gauntlet of shoes. Some work but I have to switch from time to time to ease the pain... Skate shoes work, then Asics work... then New Balance... .. but I have to switch day to day..

I'm curious as to what shoes you peeps find the most comfortable, and sans the crappy flashy ugly styles some of them have.

There's a store near me that sells custom shoes. They have you walk and run on a treadmill and take stride measurements etc. They resemble nike or reebok but aren't. they cost about 140 bucks.

i went shoe shopping the other day and i was about to buy these one pair that were soooooooo comfortable it was insane, every step i took felt like i was reaching orgasim, but then i saw another pair that looked a little bit better so i put them down and bought those, but now every step i take on these shoes i wish they were the other ones... its a vicious cycle i condemned myself that i have to live with everyday.....shoe shopping sucks.

oh edit: i forgot what brand pair they were... sorry if i wasted your time lol

For comfort overall, no matter what style of shoe, the brand that does it for me is Merrell. I have their sneakers, hiking boots, and even combat boots (pass inspection).

the new balance 99IGL is rediculously comforatable. I use to wear it for solely for comfort but have been just using nike shox.

the 99 is by far the most comforatable shoe IMO. It has a awsome sole and awsome arch support.

Just wanted to add something for people who wear dress shoes...

the best recommendation I have is invest in good quality shoes that last many many years and take care of them - sure you drop $200 for a pair off Zappos.com but they last years longer, and are a good investment in making an outfit a whole level nicer looking, etc. Take a standard dress shirt and slacks, well tailored but moderate priced suit, and add dope italian shoes, and the outfit looks 10x better up close in person. The trick isnt to make everything you wear high end, but to have at least one to two pieces high end, and make sure everything fits you well.

BTW, women do check out your shoes more than anything else. (Side note: Guys who lift weights and have upper body mass owe it to themselves to either get the sides taken in, or get some made to measure at a place like Brooks Brothers or similar..) It's better to have a few outfits that are totally well fit, well constructed, and stylish, than a closet of cheaper stuff.

The initial purchase is painful that you drop more on one pair than you do on 3 of what you normally buy, but then you start realizing how freakin suave you feel wearing styling italian shoes, and when well fitted, they are like slippers.

Second, I've found orthotics, not only good for athletics and good posture health, but they make alot of dress shoes super comfortable for long days.

Best dress shoes - Donald J. Pliner, Mezlan, Boss, Allen-Edmonds, Johnston Murphy - Rockport makes some good ones too, if you're ok with non leather soles.

Last comment: You always want to dress yourself for the job you want to have, not your current job... A nice pair of shoes is the most overlooked part of a guy's wardrobe - we're so focused on the shirt or jeans or pants.

Dress, Casual dress, Casual?
I like Ecco for casual dress; they are very comfortable with excellent arch support. You cannot go wrong with Mephisto for comfort.

I like the Lebron James' from Nike easily the most comfortable and best shoes I have ever worn.
