I keep hearing it is disgusting but I also hear it has tons of benifits to it and should be taken.. can anyone recomend a brand that is bearable?? are there different forms of it and which would be the best to get??

Thanks

why don't you try coconut cream?

Coconut is basically extracted from the cream.

And it tastes delicious! :)

Coconut Oil = Awesome. There is a thread started about peanut butter but there is some really good info on coconut oil in there. Invalid Link Removed

Lots of good info in that thread. As for brands, the #1 thing to look for is virgin/unrefined, cold-pressed. Then you can choose deodorized if you wish, but I enjoy the taste. It's liquid above 24C , and I usually take a tbsp straight, or add it to a casein shake.

I saw some last night at the grocery. The brand was "Spectrum" I believe. All organic. Not sure if it is the best, but the label looked good if you need the added fats in your diet.

yea I'm on the anabolic diet and looking to add some more healthy fats to my diet and why not reap the benifiets of coconut oil too.. I have read some great stuff about it which is why I was asking.. juss didnt want to get one that was nasty or not a optimal form or brand

hmmmm... I would wonder why? I understand AD is basically low carb high fat and protein.. wonder how coconut oil would affect it.. maybe somehow affects ketosis??

Here it goes guys. Coconut oil is a MCT, a medium chain triglyceride. For all practical purposes if you had to compare them to something a MCT is like a carbohydrate. They are burned first and burned quick. MCT oil also has ketogenic properties. MCT's at the small level contain a few less atoms than other fatty acids, they don't have to go through the same digestion path and because of their quick rate of oxidation should have less of a caloric value than fat. I believe they start off with a smaller amount anyway, close to 8 calories per a gram instead of 9.

Now, I'm not an advocate of MCT oils in large amounts. It's taste is bland and.....thats all i can say bad about it for now, I'm not at home so I don't have any of my e-books or other information at hand.

I really find this thread very helpful on how coconut oil is very helpful in so many ways. I would love to read more forums about it.
