Christian Bale Goes ApeSh*t on Terminator 4 set

I can understand that there's some validity to the "You don't know the craft" argument. Sometimes you just don't know until you've done the job but there are a lot of people in high risk jobs where this type of outburst isn't acceptable. Police and Fire fighters are two such professions where the stress is high and actions are accountable. I've had guys on my firing line point a loaded weapon with the hammer back straight at me and you can believe that thay were yelled at and plenty of sear words followed. However, those moments only lasted a few seconds and I didn't walk off and come back to give out more. In one situation it happened twice by the same person. that person was removed from my firing line and their weapon was taken from them.

If this guy was a repeaded offender then you still have ways of dealing with this without a 3 minute rage session.
But seriously, deep down...they guy that repeatedly pointed the weapon at you....don't you just itch to demand the guy explain WTF he was thinking?. WAS he even thinking? How does someone go through life with their head wedged so far up their ass that in any reality they think it's "ok" to point a loaded weapon at a colleague?

I think this is the point...more and more the world is stupifying, and sometimes you just want to scream at the idiots.

This is way different than a blooper - more akin to ripping a raunchy fart on purpose in the middle of dramatic scene.

Yup, I questioned all of those things and it was over. I would of had no real issue with an outburst but this was a tirade. My problem is the length of the vebal beatdown over what was actually said. Make your point and move on or fire the guy.

IMHO the ability to refrain from doing so may be what differentiates us.

I believe we all enter "arenas" where we are the idiots. I'm sure you or I could school Mr. Bale in one arena or another ;)

Oh, don't get me wrong. As I said in my very first post on the matter I believe he took it way too far/long, but others are disagreeing with the substance of his tirade, rather than just the form.

I think it's getting blown out of the water, truthfully. Bale isn't some cracked-out, POS actor - the guy is good. If he feels someone took him out of character, then fire away.
He is one of few actors that I actually like.

He's a good guy except for the whole beating up his mom and sister part.

So you're saying that Monty Python had no dramatic scenes? :D
And now...how to defend yourself against a man armed with a dramatic banana!!

total lack of self control,i mean come on!..these guy's make millions of dollars doing what they do,and i think that the money, media and self image plays a huge role on top of there role in the movies.when i heard bale cussing this poor guy out,i only could think of the poss. of the lighting dude having children who was older then bale, and thinking that his own children would not talk to him that way,but yet he humbeled himself(the better man IMO!)..and took the verbal abuse!...cant have one without the other,actor..lighting/sound whatever, and if it doesnt' workout, fok it,fire there a$$e$$ and get another one or two!..i truly believe that bale was out of line!..fok him,he aint even that great as an actor anyways!

Bottom line is, I DO NOT feel sorry for actors! They have these cushy jobs and certain ones complain and act like they're superior in some fashion. They complain to me about nonsense, when I've been there six hours before them making sure everything and everyone is in place so they don't have to worry about anything. When wrap is called, they bounce and got to exclusive clubs and restaurants, meanwhile, I still have 4 + hours of work to go...after being on set for 12-16 hours. Sometimes more. But it's our fault because we glamorize and idolize these people. I think the reason I always get work and recommended is because I don't play those games. I know what's required if me and I do just that. I keep a positive attitude and am friendly-ish to most everyone. We're all on the same team working toward the same end.
I was on the receiving end of a public tongue-lashing for something that had nothing to do with me. I let the dude finish and then I started one of my own telling him that it wasn't my job and that he should learn the production business before saying things that make him look stupid. And furthermore, if he ever made the mistake of ever talking to me like that again, he would have more to worry about than whatever pissed him off initially. The asshole came to me in private to apologize. It was ok to try and humiliate me in public but he wasn't man enough to humble himself the same way. To this day, if I ever see his name on a contact sheet or on a short-list, I make sure someone else gets the gig. 18 hour days are hard enough without having to work with people like that.

Honestly speaking, the way that I am, I would have probably taken the first 2 minutes, but after that, I would have probably been arrested, as I would have attempted to crush Bale's larynx ...seriously, I can NOT STAND people who use profane language directed at ANYONE in an aggressive manner.

I mean, honestly, anyone could have made the SAME EXACT point to the guy without the profane language and the d!ck-head attitude.

I would have looked the other while you did your thing.

A brave retreat by brave Sir Robin.

"Hey phucko! get out of my shot... bleep bleep bleep, give me an answer! bleep bleep bleep. I beat my own sista and mova, don't think I won't kick your @$$"

That sums it up.

Ive taken a few film classes at college and after listening to the audio, it is quite understandable why Bale got pissed at the DP. But a few curse words would have sufficed, followed by Bale telling the DP to follow him to the next room, other side of the set, or wherever. There is where he could drill out the DP, tell him hes an idiot, and the respect of doing this in private would be present. Time is money, and Money is time on a film set. Spending 5 minutes to lash out on someone is contradictory to this.

Also, find the nutjob who recorded this and make sure he never works in Hollywood again. Im sorry but okay maybe many actors are @ssholes and give out no respect, but someone on the set recorded this and sold it off to some tabloid just to make a penny. So in those terms, the person who recorded this is just as sh!tty as any egotistical, prick actor. But i don't see anyone commenting on "this" person, who obviously doesn't mind further shattering someones image just to make some extra $$$.

Bale went over the top, but the guy who moved the lights during the shot had done it before and was a fairly young and inexperienced guy.

Both are at fault. Bale looks like an idiot because of this and the kid who moved the lights is an idiot. It's one thing to yell at someone. It's another to do it for 5 minutes. The only reason this surfaced is because the production company had to send it to their insurance company in case Bale really did try to quit the film; they would be able to collect as well as sue Bale.

"just as shitty" please.

It was, more than likely, the audio guy. This may have been purposely done to embarrass a prima-donna. Y'never know. I bet he'll think twice the next time.
