Choking Game - WTF!!!

The choking game is not technically a game but a schoolyard activity involving the production of unconsciousness or near unconsciousness by restriction of the supply of oxygenated blood to the brain.

Blood flow to the brain is restricted by compressing the carotid artery in the neck. This is achieved either by pressing the thumbs against the arteries on both sides of the neck simultaneously or the use of a ligature. Apart from the direct restriction of blood to the brain there are two other significant physiological responses to pressing on the neck.
Pressing on the carotid arteries also presses on baroreceptors known as the carotid sinus bodies. These bodies then cause vasodilation (dilation (widening) of the blood vessels) in the brain leading to insufficient blood to perfuse the brain with oxygen and maintain consciousness.


Seriously WTF!! Why would anyone want to do that?!

There are other variations in which involve self induced hypocapnia:

This involves no compression of the neck but requires hyperventilation for a minute, or until symptoms of hypocapnia such as tingling, light-headedness or dizziness are felt, followed by a breath-hold. The effect is greatly enhanced if lung air pressure is increased by holding the breath "hard", that is forcing exhalation while allowing no air to escape. This alone is enough to cause a blackout but usually tradition requires one of a number of other actions such as a bear hug given from behind or pressure applied by another person under or over the heart, usually with the head of another participant.

I heard abou this at least 2 years ago, maybe 1. Probably multiple times. This kind of thing only is found out casue injury or death occurs. I know a few kids from high school that used to do it in class. Not to the passing out point but i guess they lieks how it felt. I think it's beyond ridiculous.

To be honest, i feel as if society really sucks all the time now. The way familys are, people look at one another, ignorance, i am honestly fed up wiht how fast paced and pathetic so many people act.

We used to do that **** when I was in jr. high (early-mid 80's)

i get wiht agirl that like to be choked a lil....i think its a fun game....she maintains conciousness though. :stick:
 
Yes, I'm guilty of this as well. What we did though was bend over and take like 15-20 really quick, really deep breaths. After we did that we would straighten up as quick as possible and if you did it right you would lose consciousness. Of course you had someone behind you to catch you if you did go unconscious.

One of my teachers in primary school talked about doing it and how it is lame... It is a fairly old practice.

In some country's kids inhale cow **** fumes to get high, or in the uk kids inhale bin fires.
 
LOL, I used to do this with my neighborhood gang back when I was 7-8... maybe thats why I'm so fvcked up nowadays, lol.

And college kids are doin it?? WTf? Somebody should tell them to save some brain cells and just smoke a joint. :rolleyes:
 
I was listening to the radio and heard about the new thing kids are doing. They put poop and pee in a jar and put a balloon over the top. As the matter breaks down it releases a gas that the kids then inhale to get high. We've had crack heads for years, and now we have **** heads!

There was about 10 people at my work that mentioned it. Everyone was playin it off that it was awesome and hot....well i know my friends are true casue one told me it was gross....needless to say, moments ago i was given a link fomr someone i dint think knew about it and they said it was car stuff....i watched 10 sec casue i was to shocked to click off.

I have a strong strong stomach. it dint bother me...more the fact what was going on was ridiculous. Kind of depressing.

Oh no its cool. i was just lettin you know. yea i have seen some bad stuff but this def is number 1 or 2. Yea curiosity is def one of my biggest "flaws"

Honestly, those are two things that get most people, **** or puke. That vid combines the worst of the worst.

My girl is an ER nurse and sees nasty **** ALL the time, she can handle it out the south end, but immediately starts gagging at vomit.

Funny stuff. Neither bothers me, unless it lands on me somehow.

Seeing someone vomit I am ok with. But if someone makes themself vomit and the noise and sounds they make that gets to me. The eating crap looked like rocky road or chocolate ice cream LOL.

Glad i dont eat either of those.
Nothing seems to bother my stomach....i always wanted to eat the stuff on fear factor.

Did anyone notice the fine print in red at the bottom of that document? This information is "CONFIDENTAL." I hope whoever posted this had "consent" or it looks like I'll be making a call to Sheriff Don Hunter. :D
