A friend of mine bought the P90X series a few weeks back but was recently in a car accident that left him with a few broken bones and about 4 months before a full recovery. Needless to say, he won't be doing P90X for awhile.
When I first joined here a few months ago, I was a really skinny runt. But since then I have been on a bulking diet consisting of roughly 6500-7000 calories (pretty clean too). I've put on some nice weight since (about 12 pounds) with this diet and some basic weight training 3 days a week.
He has these DVDs and told me I would be welcome to do the program so I said I would try it. I've only done 3 of the workouts so far and not in any order. I did the chest and back, legs and back, and ab ripper x just to test the waters on this program. Wow, this stuff kicks your ass unlike anything I have ever experienced. I had to stop the DVD 7 times during the chest and back so I could catch up. The ab ripper DVD is virtually impossible for me but I struggle through it. I definitely feel I get an awesome workout.
Has anyone actually tried bulking while doing P90X? I still want to gain about 20-25 pounds by the end of the year and get to that 150lb range (I'm 133 right now). My diet is very high in calories and protein and I use Serious Mass as my pre and post workout drink. I have these $90 DVDs and feel like they are just being wasted. I have the space, equipment, and time in the evening to do it. I'd also focus on high weight/low rep.
Thoughts?
