Building Back Up

Feeling better, body aches gone, only mild congestion left. I’ll start working out again tomorrow, probably light though.

Curls

3 sets of everything, nothing to note because it was all kind of light due to first workout back from illness, but pull-ups went great. I don’t think I’ve pulled like that with good form in a couple years.

Weight still coming down nicely. I’ll be under 220 soooooooon…

Keep pushing the pull-ups and fat loss - nothing raises pull-ups like frequency and weight reduction, and nothing builds an upper back like pull-ups!
 
I think I mentioned it before but when I dropped from 240 down to around 190-200lbs (the first time, like circa 2004) I started throwing weights on my pull-ups. like.. 10lbs, nothing severe. I was shocked at how excruciatingly hard it was and it was this huge lightbulb moment for me. I realized that if a simple 10lb plate added that much difficulty, imagine how much my body was going through when I was carrying that extra 40lb weight vest around day in and day out. I mean, prior to that I wrestled at 148 and had the unofficial high school record on pull-ups back in the day so yeah that was an eye opener for me.

all the sudden when I got back under 200 I stopped having sore knees and legs after long hikes etc lol

Took deadlifts light…3 sets of 3 and pulled something in my grundle area anyway. Praying it’s not a hernia.

Otherwise, upper pull workout…nothing to note.
 
i do that all the time when I'm squatting a lot, cutting, or doing bulgarians. I've gotten better about throwing in those adductor machines for sets of 20+ and it's keeping the groin monster away.
 
its easy for discomfort to get in my head and start to think its something worse than it is, that's pretty relatable lol
when my coach thought I had a hernia I remember looking it up on web md, researching the recovery etc and feeling like I was going to puke on my keyboard.

Sorry I haven’t been posting updates. I’m still working out and it’s going well. Weight is holding steady the past couple weeks (this morning’s weight was bloated from a couple bad meals this weekend), but tightening back up until next week on vacation again.

I’ve actually been putting a lot of my time into crypto trading, mostly Solana network. It’s going well for the most part. Got cooked the past couple days but still in major profit.

My wife deploys overseas for 10 months on Saturday. Less than thrilled about it obviously, but our daughter isn’t handling it well. Our son seems unaffected though. A lot going on currently but I’ll start logging again soon.

I will say seated DB OHP consistently at 80’s for 8-10! Overhand Pull-up sets of 4-5 consistently. Otherwise, stagnant.
 
OMG dude I'm sorry, that deployment sounds really rough on y'all. I'm used to my best friend, brother, and former brother in law deploying and not thinking twice about it because they're men, I just expect it. but when you said that about your wife.. my heart sunk. I hope that it is a meaninful and safe experience for all of you.

it's funny you mention Solana, I totally forgot I had some in my phantom after it crashed at last week realized how much it had rebounded so I moved it over to coinbase where at least I know I'll see it with my XRP weekly buys lol 😅

Argh idk. I'm old school.... Like I have a Christmas sweater bitrex sent me back in the day, bitrue before kyc, and some exchanges that don't even exist anymore. I'm starting to treat crypto like blue chips.... Just DCA and hold.

I have a buddy who's made enough to buy a nice house trading shitcoins and nfts, I just don't think I have the mental bandwidth for that anymore.
 
Good to hear from you and know things are alright. What branch is your wife in, or is this for work? I can't imagine being without my wife for 10 months. Not only from missing her, but also being a single parent during that time while navigating the kids missing Mom. I feel for you Brother! Don't disappear on us, use us as an emotional crutch, or distraction from the home life. We are here for you!

Yes, thanks for asking. We went on a vacation right after dropping her off, so it’s been a good week considering. Obviously, the drop off was difficult but we’ve been in solid communication since then which helps. We’ll Get back late tomorrow night most likely, as long as the hurricane doesn’t mess us up.

They did an update to the site, mine has been doing weird things with the notifications as well. A lot of the old post that had pictures will say invalid link, until they get everything re booted. The like button was also MIA for a while, I see it’s back now.

Honestly, I do most of the laundry and 99% of the meals anyway. But the deep cleaning? Yeah, strongly considering getting a maid. I hate floors and toilets.
 
if I had to guess, I'd say my wife and I split the laundry washing 50/50, but I fold 80%.
Dinners are always by her design, but our cooking is split about 60/40 (her at 60) as I'm usually tasked with something like, prep the veggies, cook the meat or take the garbage out 🤣 🤣

when my wife and her daughters are gone, the house stays far far far cleaner. I'm not a messy person. BUT my wife gets in there and cleans/mops floors, she finds details in the sinks, bathrooms, etc. she makes the bed with 17 decorative pillows. so while I'll keep the house much cleaner, she deep cleans it way more than I could 😅

I have been fortunate enough to experience having a house cleaner a couple of times in my life. usually cause we got some amazing deal for a few months or something (like once a week visits to hit floors, bathrooms, windows) and I gotta say man that is an serious LUXURY!
 
I am a clean as I go fellow, so things always go back in place, stay orderly, have their proper spot. But I do zero deep cleaning (floors, showers, toilets, oven, etc). I’ll just let dust & soap scum etc build up.

My wife destroys the house weekly leaving all manner of such all over the place just like my 3-year-old, but she will be scrubbing everything every couple months.

I have come to accept this Yin & Yang 🤷‍♂️

My girl cleans like 17x a week because she says everything is disgusting but when shes done cleaning everything looks the same, because it was clean, cus shes delusional lol.

If she goes away and either one of the kids stays behind with me we always make a bet that no matter how good we clean the house before mom gets home she's gonna say it's disgusting in here. If I hired a professional cleaning crew she would still save that something was wrong she would say the house smells weird she just can't help herself she has to be a Royal C.u.*.t about everything.

I have come to accept this ying and ****

It’s just her compulsions - you’d be doing her a favor not to clean any of it while she’s gone, so she can feel more validated when she returns and ‘restores order’ to her microcosm. I’m not even kidding.

this is so painfully relatable it's not even funny. My wife had to have the german shepherd who is a walking fluff ball. she calls him Pig Pen from the old peanuts cartoon. But bless her heart, she cleans like her life depends on it. It's a lot easier to stomach the chaos these women bring into my life because they are like both, the storm in Noah's flood, as well as the rainbow in the end. I'm just sitting there in a big boat riding it out.

My bachelor pad was empty, clean. I ran the dishwasher a few times a week, always half empty, just so my OCD would let me keep it empty and the dishes clean/put away. I only really scrubbed the bathroom because I'd be hosting my lady friend but other than that the place just stayed clean because I wasn't a messy person.

Aside from the quiet, the only thing I really miss about bachelor pad life was that my closet was OCD organized. My gym socks, work socks, boxer briefs, everything had a place and it was always where it belonged, lol.

we're the same way. She has literally done a ton of yard work while I was gone and intentionally left the lawn for me to mow when I got home because she knew I'd be bummed if she took my job. There's some truth to that though... certain things make you feel like you're pulling your weight on the team.

You're right, but I have one issue. My mom taught me the value of focusing on the front yard first, so that the house is nice to come home to after commuting... so sorta see the house that way too. I actually can relate to Smont's situation there but I can't help but to try to make the house nicer for when my wife gets home than when she left.

Yet, you're right. the compulsion is there. SOMETHING will be amiss. 🤣

My wife typically cleans the house right before we leave for a trip. My thought is that this is a tremendously unnecessary addition of effort piled atop the normal stress & prep of packing for travel. But she loves to “come back to a clean home” 😂. I love not being stressed, so I don’t get involved lol
 
I am a little of both, my ADHD has me making some messes, forgetting to clean up sometimes. However, I also get frustrated once things get to a certain point and then I will not only clean but deep clean. I tend to do a lot of the cooking, and dishes, fixing things around the house, work on cars and the like. My wife does the laundry because she thinks I don't know how to do it. She still thinks there is a reason to sort colors... LMFAO... I am like Honey, it ain't the 80's anymore. Noone has tossed a red shirt into the whites and had everything turn pink in 20 years.... She also refolds the clothes i fold because she worked at The Gap or something and still folds perfectly. After seeing her do this several times when I was helping her I told her I wasn't doing that anymore. If my help wasn't good enough she could have that task for herself. LOL. She does deep cleaning on the weekends though, mopping and things like that. I have learned to just stay out of her way then if I want to keep her happy.

In the end we work it out, and our house is always straightened up, but looks lived in. Neither of us feels like we have to do everything around the house, so it just works.

this is a solid strategy. my wife however HATES and I mean HATES folding laundry, but after 3 kids in a family of 5 for 20 years I think I can understand her issue. and I LOVE LOVE having my closet organized in a way so that in 5am I can reach to the right place and grab the socks or shirts or whatever I need. I LOVE that.

but you know what I hate more than anything else in the world? I hate the repetition of making a pot of coffee. I hate everything about it. I hate dumping the filter/grinds, getting new ones, refilling the water. I hate making coffee and having someone like my wife do coffee prep on the daily is a blessing to me.

I do drink the coffee though, and I think k-cups taste like watered down crap so beggers/choosers 😅 🤣

I would NEVER be bummed if my wife did the lawn…but that doesn’t mean I want her doing it. Can you imagine the neighbors? I’ve literally told my wife…”if you want to mow the lawn, you need to tell the neighbors first that you actually want to be out there.” 😂
