I know there are a few gardening and chili/capsaisin fans here....I just found what seems a fun fact.
This morning I looked into DHEA a little and all I have to say is "Wikipedia, challenge accepted!".
So
Invalid Link Removed says..."DHEA has been found to competitively inhibit TRPV1.".
TRPV1 aka the Capsaicin Receptor
Invalid Link Removed (<---@DemntedCowboy, read Antagonists, first chapter, last sentence

) looks to be a big player in body temp regulation and pain sensation. This all sounds pretty cool considering capsaicin triggers burning pain without really burning.
Well it just so happens I have a three year old Carolina Reaper plant that shot its first spring new growth this week and I have a score to settle with this plant.
It's a freak of a plant that sometimes lines the fruits flesh with the placenta instead of the usual core type thing.
I can eat pretty hot chili by most standards but these are different. Last time I ate some of one of those fruits I had approx 1/2" square...and then spent an hour in the fetal position rolling it around my stomach, the day before I ate a world record attempt breed that was WAY hotter without issues. It has also ruined two other avid chili fans guts.
As for practical uses of DHEA...yeah whatever but now I have a competitive inhibitor this plant will want to bring it's A Game this season.
Morale of this story...How good is Bodybuilding!
