Best Supp For Muscle Soreness?

Just what the title says. I just started DC training and my quads and hams are KILLING me! I'm currently using bcaa's and biofreeze. any other ideas brothas? this is the most severe soreness i've ever had from lifting, lol. I LOVE DC!!! :hammer:

do some light sets and stretching the next day, not heavy enough to hinder progress but heavy enough to flush some blood through than a light stretch afterwards.

are you also doing the DC extreme stretching after each exercise?

Your best bet is to add in more kcals. You actually want that type of soreness when starting a new routine, but I know how much of a pain in the ass (literally) it can be.

really? i know it is good for cortisol levels and an antioxidant, but have never seen it used for muscle soreness. i'll have to get some tomorrow. what dose? like 2g?

I mega dose my Vitamin C, up to 10g. You can buy it as a powder and mix it with juice a couple of times a day. It's better than chewing on those sour tablets. Take a couple of grams post training too.

The soreness will go away. Cals could help but I doubt it. Make sure you cool-down appropriately after workouts, stretch well, use a foam roller, etc. You may want to use Traumeel if it's bad all the time. And as noted earlier, the routine is new, the loads are probably heavier than your used too. Enjoy the DC experience. Remember, load dictates hypertrophy. Keep going after those PRs!

yes. my legs are so fvckin sore, i cannot physically DO ANY sets! it hurts to walk, sit down, stand up, etc. i feel like a little b!tch. it just means i'm growing though :) problem is i haven't worked legs in a loooooong time because they were growing faster than any other bodypart. so i stopped working them to let the rest of me catch up. it worked very well, but now i am starting things off with DC training, lol. 4 rep squats with a rest followed by 20 rep squats and extreme stretching. so of course they're going to be sore.

ON Glutamine works wonders

yea, it is awesome for recovery. i have always taken bcaa's and had minimal soreness the next day. i'm taking the same dose(using xtend) but this training style requires a more extreme protocol, lol. i'll get some glutamine and dose higher. what would be a good dose, 20g/day? more? my xtend only has 7.5g per serving, along with leucine, isoleucine, etc. i'm not familiar with what is required for my situation cuz like I said, i've never felt this before hahaha. i love it, but i'm on my feet for 9hrs everyday, so tomorrow will be a b!tch. i'm sure that won't help recovery.

i'll just have TONS of bcaa's and get some more xtend along with glutamine by itself. i'm good in the food department, lol.

Take Idebedone twice a day, one of those before your workout and you will never get sore, and when you do it is minimal.

I would love that!! I think I'm weird but that would be awesome to have Ginormous legs.

i've used biofreeze once in the past but evidently that wasn't enough to be able to tell if it worked or not. i still have some though and now that i'm going to be lifting again, it wouldn't be a bad idea to try it then.

is biofreeze something y'all have had good results with when trying to combat soreness?

Dude im on DC too. Except im doing biking sprints every other day on my off days as well. so basically im working legs 5x a week or so. My legs are getting owned.
However last summer i was doing Rippetoe, which is 3x5 squats every other day. My legs got owned then too.
I use Beta-Alanine and Xtend pre and peri workout. Also creatine, but i doubt that does much for recovery.
After the workout i drink a coke or dr pepper which is 40g of very simple carbs. I follow that up w/ a protein shake or protein filled meal
within an hour or 2 after working out.

Basically theres nothing else but suck it up and keep pushing the weight. Actually forcing yourself to do cardio on off days might help w/ the soreness now that i think about it. when i was on rippetoe i wasn't doing cardio, and my legs were sore as fvck, but now its not that bad.

You might try CordygenVO2 or 5. (ive never tried it but heard its good) Its an endurance supp, so it may help reduce the lactic acid buildup when doing the widowmaker, which should help reduce soreness later.

BTW what is BioFreeze?

yea man the biofreeze really does help a lot. thing is, the pain comes back after it wears off lol. it DOES work and it DOES help even after it has worn off,but it isn't to an extreme degree. or at least not in my situation. today my legs are still sore, but to a lesser extent. i've been megadosing xtend, using biofreeze, stretching, and eating a lot. i have more xtend and some l-glutamine on the way :)

yea on the same day i did the 5 rep squats, widowmakers, calve raises, and lying leg curls, i did 20min of 14.2rpm on the stationary bike, lol. my legs were def owned and still are hurtin. i've actually been really wanting to try the cordygenVO2 to help with breathing easier and cardio. the easier brething would really help with widowmakers!! biofreeze is basically just natural menthol. it's a gel that you rub into the muscle and it penetrates deep within it and relieves the pain. it gives you this cool/numbness sensation, hence it's name biofreeze. good stuff man, check it out.

hmm i dunno then. just work through the pain. either itll go away, or youll get used to it :)

I do 3 heaping tsp a day so about 20g or so. That should be plenty.

thanks for the feedback. my first week back in i'm always sore. by the beginning of the following week it's subsided but in the meantime, i could use some of the biofreeze i have. i would like to try xtend but the price is not something economically viable for everyone when considering it only contains 30 servings. imagine how fast that will go using me as an example and i would only use about 20g a day. i know of people that take 50g and i'm sure it doesn't end there.i can't take anything with artificial sweeteners either cause i have crappy reactions to them. i guess i'll stick with bulk bcaas for now.

I have used Glutamine, BCAAs, lots of cals, etc...nothing works for me. Dewd, I feel your pain...I live a life of constant muscle soreness....extreme. And your debilitating leg/glute soreness....I'm there right now......that's me everytime I kill legs. It's truly annoying and gets in the way of life.

Now, I think I have a medical condition which causes extreme soreness from activity, so just because I didn't recover faster from the above substances, doesn't mean you won't either. Just giving my $.02 for what didn't really work.

Note: I also stretch before and during my workouts. I warm-up too. This isn't an issue I don't think. Grrrrrrr

p-slin, ap, and intrabolic all work wonders for muscle recovery for me.

Hydrolyzed Whey Protein should help you a lot when consumed pre & post w/o. check relentless by XF.

full spectrum digestive enzymes (Sorenzyme by Labrada not including lactase)

optimum nutrition's whey has all that in the formula too right? i could be mistaken but i remember seeing it on the tub of the natural i bought today.

glutamine peptides before workout and sorenzyme from labrada, it`s specific to decrease soreness, I know this is a old one but some guys swear it works wonders(I personally haven't tried)

The other day I woke up late and the gym was going to close so I made a quick shake 70g WMS, 1 scoop Purple Wraath, 2 scoops Xtend. Took off to the gym with my workout shake which has the same amount of AA. I had an awesome leg workout and no insane soreness the next day. This is my new pre workout shake for leg days. It's too expensive for me to use everyday.

A dose of astaxathin both before and after a workout. It's unsurpassed for preventing/mitigating DOMS. I use it every time I change my routine, and every time I go heavy.

vit c and e, bcaa, glut., taurine, ass load of fast digesting carbs and protein.....oh and oxycotine!:D

Go head on MAN!!

yesterday was my first day of 5x5 and i woke up moderately sore with regards to my chest, front shoulders, middle/upper back and quads/hamstrings/glutes. lol i should have just said 75% of my body. i applied a generous amount of biofreeze on the listed areas except the back and hammies. i'm also supplementing with bulk bcaas @ 24g/day (6g 4x/day). atm, i'm not noticing any temporary relief. i'll keep using it until the bottle runs out and review it from there.
