Best Multivitamin ?

I have a question, out of reading these posts I wanted to know which is better MST-MVP or MHP's Activite. I want to know which one is either more bang for the buck, and which one is more effective at making sure protein and lipids don't go to fat deposits.

vitamin shoppe brand Liquid Multi, $20 lasts awhile. I was using Opti Men before but liquid feels so much better.

There is little difference re price.

As for "which one is more effective at making sure protein and lipids don't go to fat deposits"; protein and lipids will NOT be deposited as fat unless your energy intake is in excess of your energy output or muscle accretion needs (i.e. it is NOT dependent upon the multivitamin you use).

I take SportPharma brand multi.

One questions tho. GNC's multivitamins are supposedly time released. Are other multivitamins like this? If they were time released it seems like it would solve the "your body will piss out the excess" problem, no?

I prefer the ACES+B-Vitamin+Mineral approach...

This is my regimen.

Country Life Co-enzyme B Complex
Jarrow Methyl B-12 5,000 mcg
Jarrow Inositol Hexaphosphate

And for a mineral supplement, although I'm not taking one at the moment,

Millennium Sports ZMK

For selenium, brazil nuts.

Vitamin C, that's up to you. Vitamin A is also up to you, but I like High Vitamin Butter Oil or Jarrow Formulas, CarotenALL

For Vitamin E, Jarrow Formulas Tocosorb or Primordial Performance Toco-8

MST ZMK is also the chelated version which is said to have a higher absorption rate.

I think the better question is are actually absorbing what you are intaking......
Stomach acid breaks down food, chemically altering it so that the body can extract the required nutrients for proper structure and function, including muscle maintenance and growth. The acid begins the digestion of protein in the stomach and then triggers the pancreas to secrete digestive enzymes and the gallbladder to release bile into the small intestine. The acid is also responsible for killing pathogenic bacteria that enters the body via food.

Simple test you can do at home, but I suggest you talk to a physician qualified in nutritional medicine before you try it. Nutritionally-oriented physicians often prescribe this test along with a zinc challenge test. It requires a bottle of Betaine HCl, at 200 mg potency per capsule. Here is how it is performed:
Step 1 - Have a high-protein solid meal (no shakes). Let’s say for illustration purposes a 12-ounce steak and vegetables.
Step 2 - Eat half the protein, roughly 6 ounces of the steak.
Step 3 - Swallow a 200mg capsule of HCL.
Step 4 - Eat the other half of the steak and the vegetables.
Step 5 - Wait 15 minutes.
Step 6 - If your stomach acid is normal, you will feel like you just drank a hot cup of tea. If you feel nothing, you need HCl as a supplement. So what do you do next? At every meal repeat steps 1 to 6, upping the dose one capsule per meal until you feel the burning sensation. So if it takes five meals to get a burning sensation, you need on average four capsules per meal. If you get to seven capsules and you have no burning, stop the test – you are achloridic!

MST MVP/ZMK is the best in my opinion. I believe that all of the others have Zinc and Calcium together, they will fight for absorbtion and basically cancel each other out.

Charles Poliquin says that a very large percentage of athletes/lifters are defficient in Zinc, so this is a very important supplement and should NOT be taken with Calcium to get the benefits.

Mst, and other sources, go even further: vitamins are best taken in the day, minerals at night. Check out their write up on mvp/zmk.

For serious lifters, I suggest Animal Pak. For athletes looking for value, SportPharma Multi-V is a great option. You can easily find it for under $9 for 45 servings (90 tabs)...

I just gotta give MST ZMK/MVP another vote. I actually feel the difference on this combo. You're popping a total of 8 pills a day but it's absolutely worth the trouble. If you try it your sold. No doubt.

This is becoming a rep dominated board :( I'm actually starting to get to the point where I'm not buying products from companies with reps who reply in every thread they see that their own product on that front is the best.

This can be very frustrating at times, especially if a company and/or forum censors feedback.

Fortunately, AM would never let that kind of behavoir happen. :nervous:

This is why I actually frequent other boards and or review websites.

Personally I use Usana Essentials. They are not a company sold on np, or many places for that matter... hands down, better nutrient quality than any brand I've looked at, and more nutrients per dose as well, and they are pharmacuetical grade. The only thing that beats their chelated minerals is MST's ZMK but that is at a one dose nutritent percentage. idk, I've used them for years because my mom raised me on them.
