Beast's Contest Prep Thread

D, I did the chain laterals yesterday......and I tell ya I really like them! You can't cheat doing them or you will get knocked the Fu(k out! I thought to myself I will just go at a medium pace with them. Well the first time I do it, the weights on the chain fly right up past my face. I was lucky not to mess up my grill! Word of advice, do them very very slow! They work great!

I did them last week and my sides were just fried. Everyone was looking at me in the gym going :wtf: but they way I felt after I was finished I could give a damn.

So far so good. The only thing that has decreased is my bodyweight pull-ups. I've never had good endurance for these (most I can do is 10-15), but I have always been very strong at them (can do BW + 100 lbs for reps). I would usually do 12, 10, 8 and today I did 10, 8, 7. That is the only thing that has decreased.
 
Glad you guys are liking the chain laterals. My workout partner didn't show so I couldn't get the video :(
 
Awesome stuff man!! I really like the diet... especially because I'm planning on something strikingly similar (just without the extra protein shakes)

ahha, I get the wtf look about every week in the gym. I got them with the chain laterals too. Another one that seems to get most people are low cable pull ins when I do some ab work. Soemtimes the look on people's faces is priceless:twisted:
 
Hit a new PR today, Barbell Curls 165 X 11! I did 2 sets of 165 for 5 reps, then just went balistic on the 3rd set and killed it! Probably gonna jump upto 185 for these next week.

Damn, you've definitely put on some size over the past 6 months...I've got to give you that! Your legs were actually "too impressive" before, and now, your upper body seems to be closing in quick! Great job.

Now, if ya don't mind, I've got a long-winded question that requires a very short answer :lol:: You "seem" to carry fat similarly to how I do (although you're atleast 3% lower than me :D). It "appears" as if you put a lot of it in the lower back with some runoff onto your sides.

Now, I'm leaning out right now. And, its frustrating, but my waist measurement at the mid-section and at the bellybutton have been almost stagnant for almost 2 weeks. However, the rest of me "feels" like its leaning out. Do you experience this at times?

It also could be that I had an unfortunate set of events recently that left me hormoneless and ancillariless shortly after I started a cycle (long enough to shut me down, not long enough to get results :() and my cortisol and estrogen were throgh the roof for a week or two, but I'm sketchy on that explaination now after everything has been good to go for a week and I've seen no changes in the waistline.

I do have to say that I "believe" that my legs, back, and chest have leaned out, so I could just be kicking myself in the ass for no reason, but all I know is, two weeks, no change in waist, and I'm still at least 2-3" away from seeing abs (at 36" mid /36.5" navel right now at 5'10").
 
I was wondering what your rankings were in your previous contests. I searched on bb.com but couldnt find any posts containing that information.
 
My love handles/lower ab&back fat is always the last to go. I will be totally ripped everywhere else and still have love handles.

I have noticed that since starting to do cardio after my weight training sessions, it appears that I am losing fat more "evenly" instead of abs last. Taking Yohimbine may also help.

Ahh, yeah, I was just reading about yohimbine earlier. Troponin (are you familiar with him) and crew are big on it for pre-contest.

This is what threw me. I thought he meant taking yohimbe also may be helping me shed fat more evenly.

Derek, do you think oral or trans is better, relatively equal...?

If you have a problem area then a trans is probably better.

Awesome progress.....now i just gotta get my ass in gear and start making up a cut diet for your product testing you are allowing me to do.
 
Thanks guys! Everything is progressing very well right now. Got 4 weeks until the Arnold, so I should be ripped by then.

Cut-->Ripped-->Shredded
 
I just took a look at your cutting diet and I think I may have to re-engineer mine to follow those specs. A quick question (and sorry if you already answered it) - but I notice you're taking in 4000+ cals a day which is definitely not a defecit for your bodyweight...is it the carb cycling that stimulating the fat loss, while helping you retain LBM?
 
I don't think I posted this here yet, but this is the exact diet I have been following for the past 1.5 weeks (attached). Decreased cals a little.

It's a combination of things.
1) This diet is setup to control insulin levels while keeping protein high and supplying plenty of EFA (to keep the body happy), all of which are ideal for fat loss.

2) I think the cardio after weight training is having a very positive effect on both fat loss and muscle preservation.

3) Sesamin + Lipid Fx
These two supplements MAKE your body oxidize more fat, allowing me to eat more than I would usually have to.

The carb cycling (a carb load every 3 days) also play a big part in my success.

I was wondering the same... Also, when doing reps, do you focus on explosiveness with slow negative motions?
