Hey guys, quick one here.

My girlfriend has recently found out she is pregnant (we already have one terror :]) and she is quite into fitness / diets and supplements etc.

We are both a little unsure of what supplements she can and cannot take during pregnancy? Also is there any advisable exercises too?

Cheers guys!

Just lots of clean whole foods....I think how she eats has a very likely effect as to how the baby will turn out. And since she's eating for herself and the baby it's even more important.

Obviously talk to your doctor....but I also think that BCAAs, Whey Protein, and Multivitamin would be about all you'd want her to be on. Especially now that studies on BCAAs are reporting to have life extension properties.

I'm just thinking in a epigenetics context.....your external environment and nutrients can influence gene expression and I bet that what a mother eats/does while carrying a fetus in her womb also has an effect on it's developing genes and how they will be expressed for the rest of it's life

Re supplements, I recommend that she just stick to the basic staples - after all, supplements are not really necessary, if you know what I mean, so long as her nutrition is adequate; and all she might really need to use is just a multivitamin. Her medical professional may have her on natal supplements, I don't know, but it's always recommended and advisable to ask about anything she is considering using during her pregnancy, to ensure there are no contraindications to the pregnancy or anything the doctor may have her using.

If she is used to training and there are no complications with her pregnancy, then she can continue exercising right up until the day she has the baby, honestly. If she feels that she has to drop the intensity of her training for a bot, then she can do that.

There r prenatal vitamins, my wife took folic acid and gluco***e, she also took royal jelly and maca

I would personally have her avoid that isn't approved by her doctor. There really are no studies, to my knowledge, on the affects of consuming stuff like artificial sweeteners and things during pregnancy. IMO the next 9 months should be a time to eat whole, organic foods and not take any supplements that don't have years of approval from doctors. I know for sure that I wouldn't want any experiments being done on my potential son or daughter as to the affects of various substances on the fetus.
