A log with vague goals

Lifestyle wise, a very likeable diet. Eat all the fruit you possibly can during the day, lots of options for variation, a bag of candy around workout, a pound of lean meat with greens and some potatoes or similar at dinner
but even the candy I assume you have to be a little picky with since you need to watch fats right? so you're not likely having anything chocolate or peanut buttery, its straight up gummy bears and skittles type stuff?

Straight up gummy bears would follow closely to what’s claimed to work best, and I am indeed doing that right now. But I’m not convinced this is actually the best way.

I did have very good results with my previous diet just replacing roughly half of my carbohydrate intake with fruit based sources, and more or less have fruits with each meal.

If this “sugar diet” is better, similarly or less effective for ME, remains to be seen. I hope it’s at-least similar as it’s a very convenient & pleasant way to cut or maintain.

Considering the results of this previous diet, I’m also not convinced the MOA attributed to this “sugar diet” to be actually correct, although it may very well be.
 
So I'm thinking about doing that 2 days a week.

4 days meat and rice low fat bro diet

Is it possible to roughly estimate total weight lost and average calorie deficit since the start? I know you’re just experimenting a bit and are sugar fasting intermittently but it would be useful data. Thanks! 🙏🏾

If your sugar fasting it's Sugar only. There's no chocolate or peanut butter, no doughnuts, no cookies, no cake, no ice cream.

@Smont Out of those options I would probably be supplementing straight dextrose to get more direct muscle ready glycogen in my system and moderating candy a little bit. At least periworkout. Plus it could help lowering fructose totals, although the research seems to imply that the fatty liver issue is not a problem with this method of eating, might as well be a little prudent there. I definitely wouldn't be too worried about it for a few weeks or a month, but getting longer, I would probably want to see some proof it isn't doing anything that bad to the liver.

Ya I go for glucose syrup first but I also do well with dextrose and I used to have dextrose intra workout pretty much every day at one point in time. I don't see any reason I couldn't do more of that. If I really want to pound a all sugar carb Day I like hydes idea of the powdered dextrose on the white rice. I did that to carb up for my bench press contest along with white bread, pickles and gummy bears lol

Yes, @200-203 lbs I started having a hard time putting on more body weight, my look was improving but I couldn't gain any more weight and a lot of that just had to do with I'm really hot working outside and I didn't want to eat it was a challenge to get food down. After normal diet average loss 1-2lbs weeks had me at 193-195 and now since playing with this I'm bouncing from 186 to 189 in 2 weeks.

in 2 weeks I'm down roughly 7lbs morning weights and I'm down 6lb evening weight.

And I normally don't check my weight more than once a week but I've been doing it just for this.

I wanted to note that today I woke up 190 again. At 1am I had a accident and ate 6 pop tarts and 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwich with 3ish cups of milk 😬

I'm not having straight liquid glucose syrup I'm using gummy bears because they're made out of glucose syrup.

What if I did have a bottle of Street glucose syrup I would use it!

Oh wow, I was not aware that gummy bears were mostly glucose. No wonder it is the main candy I hear about being used during training. I probably would have used a little more of them if I had realized that.
 
7 days on the “sugar diet”.

My weight doesn’t move, at all. It’s been 99.7 on all 7 days.

It’s important to note that I did already lose 2.4kg, 5.3 lbs, prior to starting the sugar diet, by replacing 50% of my carbohydrates (rice/potatoes/grains etc) with fruits.

Hence it may not come as a surprise that my working theory now is the initial weightloss is indeed caused by high fruit intake, but NOT by exclusively consuming them.

I actually do look leaner and less bloated in the mirror now—especially around my waist—and I’m one hole tighter on my belt.

Time to ask chat gpt:

1. Reduced Water Retention & Bloating
  • Many processed carbs and starches (bread, pasta, cereal) lead to higher sodium intake and more gut fermentation.

Starting today I will start drinking clear whey (isolate, zero fat) in water through the day, replacing sugar 1:1, while keeping everything else the same. Fat intake only with the evening meal like before. Curious what will change.

I think we've all been there. pb is dangerous for me, but my other kryptonite is the cheese.

Its only been like 2 weeks, I don't think I can make any accurate statements on fat/muscle /water.

As a guess, I think I'm loosing a little more fat but it appears like more because I look dry and my stomach definitely flattens out in like 1 day. I don't think I've lost any muscle, that would take months before it would be noticeable if it even happens at all. I don't think I would loose any, I would just flatten out. If I continue to cut and get down under 180 than at that point I'd imagine I'm loosing muscle. My stomach is the fastest part of my body and I can pinch like a quarter inch off the lower abs. There's definitely more fat to loose, but it's not a ton. Let's revisit this question in a few more weeks to see if I gotta put my foot in my mouth 😂

Most noticeable out of this whole thing is that my stomach issues are non existent on sugar days. I go in the morning and I'm good for the day. I'm usually in the bathroom 3 times a day and urgent is the bathroom trip most of the time. Doesn't happen on the sugar days though. And I attribute that to my stomach just being pretty much empty everything I'm eating is probably being burned up immediately for fuel

I ate like a normal construction worker today. My morning was hectic and nothing was prepared.

Coffee with cream at 7, a turkey grinder with chips and a Gatorade at 1230, bag of sour bears at 5 lol, I'm still not home, picking up kids at various locations. Il probably make a steak around 8-9 when I get home and pull some veggies out the garden for a salad

I don't know much about these I was going to start digging on side effects but I'm probably going to keep 2 and part with the rest. I believe these are all four anxiety or depression, I know some of them have other benefits too. But I also know that most of these you can become dependent on and have withdrawals when you come off so these aren't things just to dive headfirst into, even phenubut can cause withdrawal symptoms if you use it too often. I'm up for discussion on these and I am willing to trade or sell a few I just want to hold on to any that may not be addictive or can be used for spot duty. I don't like the idea of having to take an anxiety or depression medication daily but if I can take something only when needed I would mess around with it.

Let myself get loose over the weekend with my food and I gained back to 194, after yesterday sugar day and a protein meal I dropped 3 of it right away. This is pretty consistent.

Im going to continue to do everything I've been doing in the same style and I'm not going to add or remove any calories from what I have been doing on these days. But I'm adding 750mcg of SLU
 
Well I did it, I made it through the day with only sugar and a few grams of fat from cream in my morning coffee. I did about 6 total hours of light to moderate manual labor, 4 rounds on the heavy bag, ran 2 miles, put 6 ppl through a deadlift/pull workout and I've been home for about an hour but haven't even made it in the house yet because I've been up and down the stairs trying to get laundry done.

I'm heading upstairs to package up one person's order, just so everyone knows I'm sending packages out tomorrow and then if I get any requests after that I'll send more packages out on Friday. Tuesdays and Thursdays are really long days, I work 8am to 8pm or 9 to 9, it's always 12 hrs on Tuesday and Thursday
 
Your first full sugar fast day? I’ve tried but just getting too damn hungry in the evening 😅

Monday morning 194.2
Monday was sugar during the day with the protein meal at night and I even had a little snack after, and then from yesterday today I did 24 hours sugar.
So in two days I went from 194.2 back to 187.8

Yesterday I took SLU 250mcg in the morning and 500mcg before bed.

No other changes.


Today meal one was coffee with a splash of milk.

I've got a fruit salad made from plums and pineapple chunks with a little bit of sugar sprinkled on top that sat in the fridge overnight.

And then I'm going to bring some fruit juice a Gatorade and some gummy bears to work that'll be snacked on through the work day
 
I thought that 187 was a blood sugar reading when i first saw it and was hoping it was after a sugar feeding LOL I bet you are looking sharp at 187.8!
 
the crazy catch 22 with your job and lifestyle is that you are getting the cardio in just earning your dollar while I'm sitting at a desk, but the double edged sword to that is you have to be tough as nails to get that manual labor in all day and still have such productive workouts. good on you man.

Yes that's correct but I sweat my balls off all day Saturday and Sunday while I gained all that weight back too so it wasn't like I sat around on the weekend at one point in time I bet you I took 20 trips from my house to the garden with 5 gallon buckets filled with water. I told a garden bed and then I transplanted 20 cannabis plants lol in the bigger pots but I had to mix the soil and nutrients together myself I do my own soil mixes for those so I was anything but sitting on my ass this weekend while gaining that weight back and then I lost it within 2 days.

My job and lifestyle allows me to eat significantly more food than the average person without getting fat but at the same time it's a double-edged sword for me too because it is really hard for me to gain weight.
 
Honestly that's the reason why I think I want to play around with a little bit of insulin when I'm bulking

how do you get started with growing your own cannabis? like how do you get your starts/seeds? my wife is really curious about it but I don't think our local dispensaries can legally sell seeds?

I actually made friends with a couple of growers and I've been getting my seeds directly from one of the guys I met. Don't get me wrong I still order some online when I see something cool I've got a little stockpile in my top drawer lol. But whenever this guy makes more seeds basically you take a female plant when it starts budding and then you pollinate it and you spray this silver stuff I forgot the name of it but it guarantees feminine seeds. And you want female seeds because female plants produce buds male plants do not.



On a side note I've been sweating excessively the past few days and I dropped to the ground today with muscle spasms. I sweat through four or five shirts at work and had to leave early and for the last half an hour I've been sitting in my shower drinking salt water. Throughout the day today I had a coffee a half a gallon of pure water 2 x 30 Oz Gatorades and another 32 oz hydration drink that I made myself and I'm still sweating through clothes pissing dark brown and literally dropped to the ground with muscle spasms so bad I almost went to the emergency room.

Everything seems to be fine now though other than my forearms keep cramping up. Going to spend the afternoon packaging up people's items and getting rehydrated and no gym. Like probably not going to do any forced exercise for the remainder of the week to be honest with you I'll put everybody through their class tomorrow take Friday off and maybe on Saturday or Sunday I'll do a workout but this was really scary for me.
