Nice! Glad you enjoyed.. turned out to be a beautiful day here.. humid but sunny.
Nice string of fish beast!!!
Looks yummy!
well. i went through with it. i've started the original cube training by brandon lilly. i mentioned i would do some max effort work to set the basis for my lifts this week, however i've decided to use old maxes. i havent done any max effort type training in a while, just hypertrophy. my strength will probably be very similar.
today was a rep day for dead lifts
deads from a 2" deficit. supposed to be 70% of my max.
135x8 185x8 225x8 275x8x2. roughly 69%. i think 70% was like 278. i rounded down. call me a bitch. i figured start easier than too much. ALL SETS WITH OUT STRAPS
deads from pins just below my knee @ 80%
325x3 for 8 sets added straps around third or 4th set
squats 185x3 for 8 sets as well
hypers 3 sets bodyweight till fail. around 15 each set. my lower back and hips were torched.
shrugs strapless 65lb dbs 2 sets of 15 reps with a 2 second hold at the top. these really taxed my grip strength, which was what i was looking for more so than trap work.
abs from a high pully with the rope. 3 sets equaling up to 50 total reps.
my legs, hips, back and ass are WRECKED today. i'll be honest, i did the % calculations and i really didnt think it would be that difficult. boy was i absolutely wrong. wow. i have the feeling this is going to be a love hate relationship. wednesday will be a heavy bench day. may do some cardio tomorrow since im going to have to increase my calories. i dont want to gain fat, i will be keeping as lean as possible and potentially doing a show prep for end of may.
Very cool bud. Interested to see how this teats you.
Well that looks like a good first day. Lots of work done.. good luck with this method.
Dang man!!! Awesome job!! I bet you were dead tired!
I told you man - when I did the base Cube, exact same as you're doing now, it absolutely pushed me the whole time. Lilly calls you on your sh!t & forces you to accept that "good enough" does not breed conquerors. Young guy at my gym, watched him bench 500 raw & squat 619 (only 600 at the meet) @ 242lbs was def using a lot of gear, & he said he'd been training the Kingpin template for over 3 cycles (30wks) and it was absolutely killing him, only training 3 days/wk even. His joints & everything were just dying from the combo of weight & volume. It's good that you started w/ the base Cube. You'll come to fear the 2nd exercise, always a heavier variant of the first movement to hit from a different percentage & angle. Snatch-grip for sets of 8 off blocks was the worst. More than once did I almost fall over/collapse on the final set's last reps.
Awesome!!! I'll say a prayer for you!! Good luck SB!Woohoo. Phone interview at 3 with premier aviation. Heavy repair/mods 2 hours east of home next to one of the best walleye and smallmouth lakes in NY! Yeaaaahhhh buddy.

Yay!!!! I hope so!!
Awesome!
Hope you get a great offer Beast!
Congrats! I'll keep the fingers crossed for you, hoss.
Lilly's tricking you into thinking it'll be lighter than it is.
The floor press was always dumb easy for me, but those sets of 15 - I had to dig for those, using the percentage he calls for. Deep.
I took a fat rest before them, I'll tell you that - I always needed most rest on the 2nd exercise. The accessories I was always busting my butt to get it all done in 75 min; had to cut weight because I didn't have time for 2 min rests. Had to hustle.
Lol that's exactly how mon went. I smoked accessories. Standard 40 sec rests with slowish reps. Deficits were like minute rests. By the time I hit my 3rd set of racks I was like f me I need to slow down. I was getting those I'm gonna puke stomach cramps.
I got a ?. I see pls benching with a belt. What's the benefit? Is it what my imagination tells me? Cinch that bish tight and grab a deep breath and fill that chest up to shorten ROM?
The Cube sounds intense. Hey wasn't it Brandon Lilly that recently had a very bad squatting accident? How is he doing now or the person that it was anyway. I know it was a pretty big name in PL.
From what I understood on the Benching Belts was that they help to keep the back from locking up during the deep tight arch while benching. Something along the lines of needing the support due to the disc compression created by the extreme arch. I could be way off here but that was my impression upon reading about them.

Hey guys. Life's getting hectic, may not be around for a few weeks. Working on getting a house and stuff. I'll pop in when I can but I may be getting a few weeks off from the gym since it's over 4 hours round trip to where I'm looking at moving to.
Do what u got to do, I know I'll still be here.. Good luck with the move!!
Good luck brother, keep us in the loop when the waters calm a bit! Don't forsake your diet either - you didn't make so much progress for nothing!
Congrats bro.. and as Hyde says.. keeps us in the loop when you can!
