Later this year I'll be traveling and will be in a situation for around 3 weeks where I'll have minimal weights, not much time to train, and caloric availability below maintenance (especially lower daily protein than I'm used to, probably around 0.7 g/lb). Like an involuntary 3 week cut during which I also can't lift like normal. Other than protein, what are your recommendations for supplements to help preserve mass when not training with much more than body weight? I know it's inevitable I'll lose some mass but I'd like to minimize losses. I'm open to mild anabolics but definitely need to steer clear of any that have anxiety sides.

Thanks guys

Phosphatidic Acid XT and Reduce XT would be great options.

In Phosphatidic Acid XT, the Phosphatidic Acid itself will be beneficial for preserving lean muscle and the Apigenin is a nice extra add-on for this purpose as well.

Reduce XT is commonly used now days for both fat loss and lean muscle retention; but was originally introduced to help hold onto lean muscle and strength gains during PCT and/or while dieting, so its perfect for what you're looking for.

Also, I'll go ahead and say that we are going to be releasing another product that will be absolutely perfect for this and has ingredients that have been clinically researched for the purpose of helping build and retain muscle and it will be available by the time you'll need something like this later in the year. It should actually be released within the next 8 weeks; I had hoped to have it out sooner but we had an incredibly difficult time thinking of a good name for it.

can you provide some more nuance as to why you will be so limited to protein intake, and if / or you will be able to supplement with additional protein or at least eaa?

That’s weird. They do vegetarian meals, so you’d think they’d be health-focused and have a fitness center.

Honestly, you shouldn’t lose a whole lot over just 3 weeks, but I’m sure it’s tough mentally. A few times when I’ve had vacations, I’ll just hit the gym extra hard for a week or two before so I “need” some more recovery. I like the idea of bands too, that’s something I’ve done before. I’m sure you can look up some tutorials on how to do various exercises, but with some creativity, a set of bands (or even just one), and a door, you can hit every muscle group fairly well.

As for supplements, Urolithin B and ursolic acid should be good for hanging on to muscle. SNS has Uro B and I love Apex Alchemy Ursa Major. XPG has an ursolic acid product now too, but I haven’t tried that.

I don't think you will loose any significant amount of muscle in 3 weeks. Bring a jug of protein powder, do some push ups and plyo in the morning and slam a protein shake and then go about your vegetables lol.
Is this some kinda yoga retreat? I have a family friend that runs retreats like this. It's about yoga, meditation and they also serve a vegetarian meal plan.

He once asked me if I wanted to go to one of he's retreats. I told him I'm gonna retreat back in the other direction lol

To be fair, he loves this stuff, everyone has seen a significant impact in his happiness and quality of life since he got into this stuff. To each there own. It sounds very relaxing

Based on my experience, over a 3 week period you’ll lose more strength than muscle mass.
I would agree, and it should come back as fast as it left when he returns. Just like we can't build a ton of muscle un 3 weeks You really can't lose a lot in 3 weeks either unless your Bed ridden and malnourished. And even then. Someone like a pro Bb who's built over 100lbs of muscle through Years of pushing food and drugs it's gonna lose a lot more muscle taking a break then one of us regular Joes who's like 15 pounds over what's naturally Achievable. And if you're natural I bet you'd lose even less muscle because you're probably walking around with a normal amount of muscle mass that your body is used to supporting

Thanks so much Steve!! Knew you'd have some good ideas. Haven't tried PA XT yet but just ordered some reduce xt from a vendor for next pct, cortisol control will be key

I'm imagining the new product name is "muscle-no-be-gone-please ... ... ... XT"

Ha. Great name, but I don't know if we could fit that on the label haha. 😂

You could always inject 2000mg of sust and eq on yiur way out the door lol

I think that wanting to smack people around and do everything that moves would likely defeat the purpose of it being a retreat haha 😂:ROFLMAO:

Great ideas man, I also love Ursa Major but haven't tried Uro B. I appreciate it

Urolithin-B XT was one that I almost mentioned as well. It would be great to incorporate in with Phosphatidic Acid XT and Reduce XT.

Valid question. It's a kind of retreat center that provides vegetarian meals, and I'll be flying there with limited luggage capacity, and it's in the middle of nowhere. I'll be able to bring 1 big jug of whey but the food supply on offer at the center likely would only give me 60-70g per day which is atrocious lol. Will definitely bring some EAA too, waiting for Mike Arnold's to launch (sns's energized aminos unfortunately has too much caffeine for me to use daily).

Honestly the lack of weights and time to lift is more annoying to me than protein which I may be able to figure out adequately

You mentioned EAA's and our Energized Aminos having too much caffeine - we're hoping to have Energized Aminos back in stock soon but also, we are going to be doing an EAA under SNS that will be caffeine free during the next couple of months and also will be doing a super comprehensive intra under CEL at some point this year, likely summertime'ish.

Now we are talking :)

You're protein needs should be less when you're not trying to recover. 80-100g of protein will ve just fine for 3 weeks. U less you're some kind of mass monster.

I'd be more concerned about Inactivity and how that might transfer over to strength, but even more importantly I'd be concerned about motivation. Can be easy to fall out of a groove. Do some light bodyweight work.

In rehab they use a bed to bench. One guy gets set up under one end of the bed, a couple guys get on top and he essentially floor presses the bed.

Now not a supplement, but low dose ostarine would most likely be useful in this situation.

also, keep in mind, any tissue actually lost during such a short period of time, would be rebuilt extremely quickly once you resume a high-protein diet and resistance training so I would just do what you can. This may be a situation where the stress/anxiety of worrying about what you are losing does more harm than the time off. also, don't let the worry detract from the point for the retreat to begin with. 2 weeks in the gym after you get back will be like you never even left.

This is not a retail product just something I made and mix 3 servings worth in a core power bottle and sip on in between meals .
