2016 NFL Thread

2-6 weeks max I heard. They just need to clean it up. They have a game this week, then a bye, he could be back for that game. I would not rush it though.

I also don't know what to make of the Steelers. They look so dominate during their wins, but their loses have been terrible.

The steelers suck on the road. But dominate at home.
Welcome to the black and gold
Ill believe 2-6 weeks when I see ben movie and throwing TD's. He has been banged up for years .. remember he has been in the league for 10 years and was the most sacked QB not too long ago. the guy has taken hits.

i tore my MCL i was out for almost 9 months with rehab.
With how many times ben has been hit that knee has taken some damage over the last 10 years.

Steeler's owner said absolute best case scenario is 2-3 weeks (seems like a far stretch to me). Doctor's time frame is 4-6 weeks.

Edit for everything else i posted: nvm im an idiot. Thought it was his meniscus not mcl.

Edit #2: it is his meniscus not mcl. Meniscus repairs have a lot quicker recovery times than ligament repairs.

Exactly

Alabama ripped Tennessee a GIANT *******. wow, i hope Texax AM is ready.

I'm from wisconsin originally so i bleed green and gold but Dak is looking like the freakin TROOTH.

Ohio State vs Wisconsin was the tits. Top 8 matchup pushed into overtime? geez. If you don't watch college you're missin out gang.

Any watch that bsu byy game? Ugh it was so fuking frustrating honestly bsu should have won that 40ish to 10 but they fucing shot themselves in the foot so many times not to much the refs give call bs call at the worst times

No chance PSU has a chance to hold their ground vs OSU this weekend.
I see Ole Miss trumping LSU.. LSU is so damn overrated every year

Bama and Texas A&M .... could go either way.. BAMA @ Home though... they may be unstoppable with how well that Defense is playing. Lets see if A&M can spread them out and attack.

I can also see Ark >> Auburn even at Auburn. SEC Has been hit or miss this year besides bama.

Is that a joke?

Not even the strongest cowboys supporters expected Prescott to play well enough to keep you guys in playoff contention.

Agree on that .. cowboys should keep romo on the bench ... although i can see him starting he would put crazy stats like 2014 was it ? when he had demarco murray

they are talking about trading romo .. no1 will take his $30mil guarenteed contract

Last I heard (1 week ago?) Romo was still the starter when he returns.

I think the Cowboys have a higher ceiling with Romo, Prescott has been a good game manager but his deep ball has been well below average.

What is not being discussed about the Cowboys is how well their defense has played. Especially with missing a lot of players due to suspension. Their D will be even better with those additions. Lets see if they can keep it up

Why fix what aint broken if you ask me
Dak is playing well, stupid to throw him on the bench.

then again, when have we labeled Jerry Jones as a "smart" man

Agreed. Dak is good. They have a good game plan around his strengths but Romo can read a defense better and throw it deep.

NYG Squeak out a win vs LA in LA. Good win the giants.
Philly hand Minn their first loss of the year with a huge W at home.
Cleveland falls to 0-7. They will be lucky to win a handful of games this year
KC Wins late to bring home the W vs the Saints
Indy has been picking up some steam and win on the road vs Tenn
Detroit wins a close one (3 points) over Washington
Oakland is really surprising people this year.. A big 5-2 start for them after mediocre seasons over the last few years.
Miami continues to pound the running game and blow through Buffalo
Balitmore is looking sketchy and very up and down. the AFC North is wide open with who shows up. The Jets get a much needed W
SF did not look sharp at all and got exposed vs Tampa Bay who needed some momentum
San Diego wins on the road in OT vs the Falcons
new England is too much for Pittsburgh without Ben. Pittsburgh Defense needs to step it up if they want to stand a chance. Brady looked sharp down the stretch even with 2 TO's in the game.

Arian Foster announced his retirement from the NFL after eight seasons.

"There comes a time in every athlete's career when their ambition and their body are no longer on the same page," Foster wrote in a statement. "My father always said, 'You'll know when it's time to walk away.' It has never been more clear than right now." Foster turned 30 back in August and has battled multiple injuries over the past two years, including hamstring and groin issues this season. Foster returned from a three-week absence in Week 6, but quickly tumbled to No. 3 on the depth chart behind new workhorse Jay Ajayi and No. 2 Damien Williams. Foster amassed 6,527 rushing yards and 2,346 as a receiver, scoring 88 total touchdowns. For a five-year stretch with the Texans from 2010-2014, Foster was one of the elite fantasy performers. He was undrafted in 2009.

Denver traded a 5th rd pick in 2017 to NE for TE AJ Derby
NE also acquired LB Kyle Van Noy from Det and the clubs are switching 6th/7th rd picks also to finish the deal
Falcons sign RB Stevan Ridley (in Coleman's absence) and cut LB AJ Hawk
Dolphins are signing S Bacarri Rambo (lost Rashad Jones for the year)
A few player returned from injury, including Steelers TE Ladarius Green and Colts WR Donte Moncrief
Rams QB Jared Goff is expected to get increased snaps this week during their bye...then next week as well (dont forget what Fisher told us *eye roll*)
FA S Taylor Mays comes off of suspension Monday. He has been in a treatment facility and is now reportedly 'healthy'. Teams are expressing interest...including the Bengals.

Denver police have captured the idiot criminals who broke into Broncos' DeMarcus Ware's home and recovered the valuables stolen.
- RB CJ Anderson is said to have a 'bone bruise' in his knee and will possibly miss significant time.

Seattle relseases RB CJ Spiller, as CJ Prosise is healthy

Browns report that QB Josh McCown was a full go in practice yesterday, so if Kessler cant go, McCown will.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy had surgery yesterday

Falcons are not considering RB Tevin Coleman's hamstring as 'serious'....but they do have the next Thurs game (Buccs) in addition to this Sunday (GB). Worth watching how they manage.

Jets place QB Geno Smith on IR after it was confirmed he suffered an ACL tear.

Colts got back WR Phillip Dorsett, in addition to Moncrief.

Bills Marcel Darius proclaims that he WILL PLAY vs the Pats, Sunday.

KC>Ind
Oak>TB
Sea>NO
Detroit > Houston

I like your picks. Im hoping the bills can upset the pats...but im biased in my hatred for the pats.

I hope so too. Doubt it, but hey who knows Dareus may actually provide a spark

Hope so man. Pass rush on brady woule be huge. And itd mean dump offs to james white for my fantasy team!

I guess I should also include that I hope the Colts end up stopping the run and beating the Chiefs. Cheifs pass rush is relatively weak so that should play into the Colts' favor. But the Colts D is atrocious, per usual.

I don't know about the Boys. They have looked good, but they haven't really played any good teams.

If the Eagles defense shows up like they did last week, I don't think Prescott will be able to do much of anything.

News around the league:

Seahawks DE Michael Bennett to undergo knee surgery, miss 2-3 weeks

Browns WR Josh Gordon released from rehab facility

Jaguars fire OC Greg Olson, promote QB coach Nathaniel Hackett

Packers' WR Randall Cobb is not expected to play Sunday vs. Falcons due to a hamstring injury, per source. Packers being careful with Cobb.

Bills' RB LeSean McCoy, nursing a hamstring injury, is out Sunday vs Patriots

The longer the season goes on the worse Fitzpatrick looks

NY needs to cut him or trade him man what a mistake to resign him

I'm not defending him. I am one of the Jets' fans that says we should see what we have in our young QBs, but Fitz was playing terrible today after coming back from a potential concussion. Several QBs and players that come back to play are iffy. Even if he passed the protocol does not mean he didn't suffer one. He looks heaps better in the second half.

Trade him to who? Not even Cleveland could use him.

LOW BLOW

Sunday Games:

Bengals vs Washington ... The Early game goes to OT and another week another Tie.. I really think the NFL needs to adapt the College Football rules and get a winner.

NO Vs SEA ... Real close game that went down to the wire. The Saints pulled it out.

Detroit vs Houston ... Ugly game by both teams. Houston started strong, and then Detroit almost made a comeback in the 4th. Houston holds out for the W

Cleveland vs NYJ .. Fitz looked awful in the first half. Cleveland was leading, and then the 2nd half was the complete opposite. NYJ Come away with a W on the road and the browns are still winless.

Carolina vs Arizona -- Carolina and the running game was what beat up the Cardinals. You can't expect to rush for 24 yards and dominate the line of scrimmage. Carolina just looked much better all around.

KC vs Indy --> KC Dominated Indy from the start. 30-14 W for them and an easy win on the road over Luck and the Colts who are struggling.

Oakland vs TB --> Another game that goes into OT. It was a back and forth game with TB leading the majority of the game. Carr putting up over 500 yards through the air. And then end up winning in OT!

NE vs Buffalo --> Brady continues to shine, they go into buffalo and dominate. after being shut out at home they were hungry for a W, and that they got.

GB Vs ATL --> Went down to the wire. Both QB's played great, but ATL Came out with the W. Big game winning drive by Ryan

Denver vs San Diego --> Both QB's played sloppy, lots of turnovers. Luckily Denver has a good Defense that helped them restrict SD to too many points.

Dak is still a rookie but his decisions are already better than romo. I agree defense has played very good even mo Claiborne.

The Chiefs on Tuesday placed running back Jamaal Charles on injured reserve, a league source told ESPN's Field Yates.
Trent Williams suspended 4 games for substance-abuse violation
Jets reach deal with C.J. Spiller, will cut Knile Davis after hourslong stint
Eagles' Josh Huff arrested on firearm, marijuana charges
Percy Harvin unretiring to join Bills

Damn it jamaal.

And you mean Packers about Knile Davis? ?

Edit: nvm, i didnt even know davis went to the Jets. Carry on Bob!

-Redskins OT Trent Richardson was suspended for MISSING a test

-Lions DE Armonty Bryant has been suspended 3 games for violation of the substance abuse policy; Lions trade a 2018 7rd pick to TB for CB Jonathan Banks

-Bills place S Aaron Willimas on reserved/inured list after the hit he took 2wks ago vs the Dolphins

-Vikings Coach Mike Zimmer had a 'minor medical procedure'. Zimmer has had kidney stones removed and has been bothered by knee trouble...but there werent details released about the procedure. Hes expected to be available today for media stuff.

-Cards S Tyrann Matthieu will miss 3-6 weeks with a shoulder injury; LT Jared Veldheer has a partially torn triceps...missed 10 wks the last time he had this

-Buss RB Jacquizz Rogers has a sprained foot..i think this is the 3rd RB injury for them.

-Jets release EB Knile Davis and sign RB CJ Spiller who was recently released by Seattle.

-DE Demontre Moore signed with the Seahawls....in absence of Michael Bennett

-Positive things coming from Steelers camp regarding Big Ben's knee and practice time

-The Browns are really trying to clean house...they reportedly had Joe Haden, Joe Thomas and Tramon Williams on the block.

-Dolphins designate DL Earl Mitchell as the IR player to return

Cowboys number #2 in power ranking steelers no where to be found

I would hope not with the Steelers QB Out (Ben)
With Jones as the starting QB I am not seeing them putting up great numbers or running an effective offense.

If the steelers were 100% it is a different story. One of the deadliest offenses in the league.

Sure Ben is practicing, but He wont be back for a good few more weeks at the minimum. I just hope we can sustain a decent record until he is back and then make a push for the playoffs.

Big game vs Baltimore this weekend, we need a W
