2010 College Football Season

When the conference expansion moves happen, Miami will be left out and never good again. Unless the ACC somehow saves face despite being guaranteed to lose FSU or VT.

There are too many substantial teams in the ACC for them to just fade by the wayside. Even if/when they lose FSU and/or V-Tech, I can see them merging with the Big East and picking up WVU, Rutgers, Pitt, etc. (The Big Ten will be too hesitant to add anyone outside of Notre Dame... except maybe Pitt or Rutgers.) There would still be 12-16 middle-of-the-road teams to sustain a viable conference with a few teams capable of competing for a NC. Even in the upcoming age of superconferences, it won't just be the SEC, Pac-10, and Big Ten running the show. There has to be another sizable east coast conference.

Of course said:
when Penn State finishes 6-6 [/SIZE]this season.

Really!!!!! it's amazing how losing just a quarterback,:bsflag: the whole world wants to throw my lions under the bus.

I watched this kid play highschool football. His highschool and my old alumni are rivals and amongst the 2 best AA schools in PA. I seen him carry 4 guys 11 yrds into the endzone in highschool. He is also touted as one of the best FB in college football.

This. BCS bid will survive.

Yo - Hulk, 2012 at Solider Field you gone be there? I am!

Can't wait see Teddy Bridgewater light it up on y'all!

Hell if I can get tickets I will be. Can't wait. I've already seen the shirts! Catholics vs Convicts 2.

All jokes aside, I can't freakin wait. Win or lose. You just can't beat a rivalry like that. It's gonna be great. If our offense and defense is like BK's has been, there will be a LOT of points by both teams. I say it'll be about 80 total if we don't get some kind of defense going by then.

Just because they're the strong, doesnt mean they cant get their asses kicked.

Also, guess who just booked a flight to see Auburn-South Carolina.

Also,

I am aware. Believe me, I'm not at all comfortable with them starting out at #1. Hasn't happened since I was six years old. It's almost impossible to go undefeated in the regular season three straight years in the SEC, and while they certainly have a ton of talent on defense, the secondary is extremely young, and will likely get lit up a few times this season. Winning the SEC West would be a major accomplishment in and of itself.

Here's the deal: As a fan, I doubt anything could ever match the magic of the '09 season. It was absolute perfection in every way, much like I'd assume Texas fans feel about 2005. That being said, I can't sit around and apologize for the Tide's rise from fifteen years of mediocrity. We got what we asked for, so we might as well have fun with it.

Hopefully, courtesy of this guy:

Hightower (and hopefully Dareus) will be in his face all day, so if he can cope with the constant pressure, there will likely be some holes in Bama's secondary.

However, Arkansas' real concern should be on the other side of the ball. The Tide put up 35 on the Hogs last year, and Bama's offense should be much improved and a bit more diverse this season. Saban and McElwain have both acknowledged that they will have to score more points this season to make up for the lack of experience on defense. The question is: Did Arkansas do what they needed to do with their D in the offseason?

100 Thoughts About the 2010 College Football Season

#95. Les Miles will microwave popcorn in his office. The instructions will say two and a half minutes. Les Miles will rely on his gut to tell him when it's done.

#94. Les Miles is going to be eating some burnt popcorn, and will blame Jordan Jefferson while he does it.

Les is a big-headed douche bag. Arrogant too. Just letting those who didn't know, know.

Im gonna be in Auburn for the South Carolina game. Winner. My application there is sent in too. If I go there, Im keeping my TX plates but changing them to TDEROLD

Dude, your coach is Brian Kelly. Not sure if srs.

I haven't met BK. If I do, then I can have a better opinion of him personally. But I have had conversations with "The King of Canes Chicken" here in La. He knows more about that stuff than coaching football. And yes, this is coming from a personal conversation with Miles himself. Arrogant indeed.

Canes is meh first off. Secondly, its said BK was turned down for the Michigan job because he was such an arrogant ******* when he interviewed. Youll never hear anyone talk about his character, especially with how he ditched Cinci for that BCS game.

Auburn's a good school and the campus is beautiful, so I'd never knock that choice. Are you still gonna try to walk-on? If so, I wish you the best of luck (sincerely). Those kinds of opportunities are few and far between.

As for the plates: While I'd find that too hilarious for words, those plates wouldn't last three days. Or the vehicle for that matter! I know you think you have a thorough understanding of the intensity of that rivalry, but you'll have a whole new perspective of it once you're in-state. It goes far beyond pure hatred. It's pathological. At my age, I don't know if I'm proud of it or a little embarrassed... or both.

Yeah, what would I know. Its not like Texas-OU is a big deal or anything. Or Texas -Texas A&M. That one could get REALLY ugly when A&M gets good again, especially if they go to different conferences. Id be in Auburn, Alabama so Im sure Id be fine.

As for walking on, you never know. ;)

It's a longshot since Id need some kind of help with the out of state costs but damn I'd love to go. Especially with A&M's stupid stacked backfield. The 4th string guy is guaranteed to be a 4* recruit.

If you haven't already, check out their Academic Non-resident scholarships on their site. I can't tell if they're applicable to transfer students, but since there's a separate link for "Freshman Non-resident," I'd assume so. Could cut the out-of-state fees by as much as 2/3, and the GPA/test score requirements really aren't all that high. There are departmental scholarships as well, and I assume those are based on incoming numbers. Some good info on their FB page as well: Invalid Link Removed

I would qualify for those scholarships but I ****ed up hard at my first school. I have a 3.73 at my current school but my first school was just a time where I wasnt ready for anything. Id have to get some kind of grant in some way shape or form.

Defending Champs. Pre-season #1. Hmmm. Sounds familiar!

Seriously Rubberring, having been there last year I can't say I envy that position. Of course we were just one win away from doing the impossible and some team from Tuscalossa kind of screwed things up for us :boobies:

Good to hear from you, OG! Oct. 2 is going to be a helluva re-match. I know the Gators have a big crimson circle around that date. I've been reading about Bama's recent scrimmage, and it looks like their secondary can't cover a bed with a blanket right now. They've lost three different safeties because of injury/suspension/loser attitude, and pass defense is going to be an issue this season if they don't get their sh!t together. Still waiting to see how many games the NCAA will force Dareus to sit out.

Realistically, I see them as a top 5 team, but it will take a major increase in offensive production to go undefeated in the SEC this season. The great thing is that there aren't many seniors on this team, and even when they lose McElroy (Sr), Julio (Jr), and Ingram (Jr)... their replacements are as good or better. If they can keep their current staff mostly intact (although I see Kirby Smart making the move to HC next season), the future will remain bright indeed.

Good to be back. I see the thread has attracted the usual suspects!

BTW, how are you feelin' about the PSU game in a few weeks?

To OldGator:
Honestly, I think it will be close. I can't see PSU allowing a scoring frenzy, so it will come down to how much pressure Bama can put on an inexperienced QB. Barring any disastrous mistakes by either team, I can see this being a 24-17 game. Penn State has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

To plenny:
Bama by 24.

LMAO

I do have to give PSU a tip of the hat - going from such a historically weak NCS to the likes of Bama.

Lions have a tough road this year playing Bama, OSU, and Iowa all away. JoePa doesn't help matters by never playing his underclassmen, so who knows what the hell will happen.

I wish we had last seasons squad rolling into "T" town..but, hey ya never know.

Thanks Plenny - good to be back.

Having a "family reunion" at the PSU-Temple game on 9/25. My extended PSU family will be there. Not a great game but we always have a great (!!!) time tailgating in Happy Valley. Tailgates are definitely better in HV than in Gainesville IMO (if not the football :veryhappy:)

Good Luck at 'Bama. My SEC tainted soul has to give the nod to the Tide but the Lions no doubt will make it a fight. I actually think it will be closer than the CW.

On that note, did you catch Saban taunting his guys how LSU, Florida, and PSU, have been talkin' trash about Bama on their respective football forums? Rampin' his guys up. Mad genuis. Left me wondering how (or if) JoePa can do the same. BTW, that 'Bama training camp series on ESPN is great. Hopefully they will do a different team each season. Getting that inside look is really cool (ie Saban's automatic office door closer!!)

Yeah, that was way better than I expected. For the most part, they just let the cameras roll. Saban is a relentless control freak, but he's a master motivator, and I've come to see the "mad genius" that combination creates. Clearly, I'm a Mark Ingram fan, but I came away from that series liking him even more. He always says the right thing, and it comes off as genuine, not programmed. I like how he responded to the Heisman hoopla with, "You either get worse or you get better. I plan on gettin' better."

This is funny whether you're a fan or foe:

And, safety Mark Barron sums it up perfectly:

Hang on - Auburn has always had pretty damn good RB recruits. How are you saying they don't have highly rated backups yet A&M does?? Auburn puts RB's into the NFL - I dunno if the Aggs do.

Regardless - best of luck.

I just noticed you moved out of ol' Louisiana. Why the move? Not that it was a bad thing, but there is a Cane's on every corner here.

Auburn has Dyer, dismissed Ay****, and there some seinor...I think Fowler? They got that new big boy. They are missing the marquee backs that made them tailback U. If they sign Dee Hart, they will be filthy but if they dont...just ok. However, TAMU has a seinor 4* in Cyrus Gray, a 5* man beast in Christine Michael, and just signed 3 4* running backs in their last class.

That was quoted by Titan. I like Canes chicken. And the sauce too.

Yeah I know - Titan should die in a fire, now. He's dead to me.

I miss Canes big time. Closest one is in Charlottesville, VA. I'm def. going there when I hit up Miami-UVa on Oct 30th.

Laynes is better than Canes.

If they sign Dee Hart, they will be filthy but if they dont...just ok.

I'm not big on Hart. He eliminated AU from his list and cried for two months when he was "misinformed" that Auburn was looking at a couple of other backs. As if he's scared of competition or sharing the carries. Malzahn's offense is all hype, and it will take Auburn three more years to figure out why they can't win the SEC. Ball control and time of possession. If Michigan has any success this season, Hart will be a Michigan man. If he's remotely intelligent, he'll pull out the crimson hat with the cursive "A" when he holds his stupid press conference. Won't phase me either way.

Btw, you have me convinced TAMU will make some serious noise this year.

Gives me chills. Two weeks until we can all go back to church on Saturdays.
