2010 College Football Season

Oh yes, to till soil and run a ranch, you need that 4 year degree. To take over your parents shop when they retire, you need that 4 year degree. Give me a break.

Yeah... we're talking high school. Keep up.

It isnt the governments responsibility to teach those values to kids. The parents should be doing that. Nanny states do not work. Look at Greece and your own state.

Access and comprehension aren't values. That was a dumb retort altogether. You're losing your composure.

You liked those three paragraphs? I liked this part.

"Our economy on the other hand [improved] — let me give you a great example: We had a $10 billion budget deficit when we got here in January of 2003. We cut that budget deficit; we did not raise taxes; we came back in '05, and we had an $8 billion surplus."

Nah, I'll stick to the pertinent part... where that $8 billion turned into an $18 billion deficit.

Wow, this whole Texas is so much better than your state thing really backfired on you, huh? From now on, whenever you post something asinine about other people's home states, assert your closet homosexuality, or complain about how Mexicans are polluting your gene pool, etc., etc. - I'm just gong to post two statistics about Texas, along with a specific number sequence.

We've covered education, so let's start with... the environment:

(50th = lowest, 1st = highest)

-Air pollution emissions - 1st

-Pollution released by manufacturing plants - 1st

- 37-21

Hey pot. This is the kettle. You're black.

But okay. You keep setting 'em up... and I'll keep knocking 'em down.

You keep setting 'em up, and I'll keep knocking 'em down.

We are also one of the biggest states. Id like to see that data per capita. Nevermind that we probably have many more factories than most other states. I know Caterpillar just built a very large one in Seguin. Probably that bad buisness climate we have.

And the point still stands about education.

I love how much smarter you think you are here. Its hilarious. "Ill keep knocking them down." God, you have your head so far up your ass. Its cracking me up. You keep letting your state run how it sees fit, and you let us worry about our ****. We will see who comes out ahead.

Again, its not the governments responsibility to teach you about every single thing. If you choose to ignore it, reap the consequences. Sorry your parents werent bright enough to teach you about those things. Immigrants are largely unskilled workers with little education. Is this really a shock?

Id love to see where you pulled the $18 billion deficit from. Its speculated around $11B last I saw.

Texas is a ****ton better than living in nanny state California. You couldnt run the state into the ground any faster and be looking at a bleaker situation than you.

Lets remember that a true freshman almost beat you after we lost our 4 year starter. Yet again, the SEC gets a freebie.

And nothing to say about the Arizona link?

You are so pathetic. Look in the mirror if you want to see a state with problems. No one here has ever had to debate selling landmarks and tuition increases over 25% in one year.

Oh, I got that from the previous article you didn't read.

"The news isn't exactly well timed for the Texas governor, since his state is facing a staggering $18 billion budget shortfall, according to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram."

But I digress...

Christ, you just don't get it, do you? I'm clowning on you. Uh, for like two pages now. The entire my state is better than your state contention is flat-out retarded. Seriously, you are an absurd character.

Dude... big surprise here: I don't care about Texas. At all. Or Arizona. Or if your dad is bigger than my dad. Or if you can throw a football over them mountains.

I love how much smarter you think you are here. Its hilarious. "Ill keep knocking them down." God, you have your head so far up your ass. Its cracking me up.

And I love how insecure you are when it comes to my intelligence. You are clearly bugged. I don't get the sense that you're "cracking up"... unless it's from being infuriated from your inability to successfully defend the very retarded argument that you initiated to begin with! A-b-s-u-r-d.

Lets remember that a true freshman almost beat you after we lost our 4 year starter. Yet again, the SEC gets a freebie.

Almost. Sums it all up. This is you in a word. If only you were bright enough to be ashamed.

The trees: Your freshman backup
The forest: Alabama beat one-man-team-Texas for all the marbles.

You are a L-o-s-e-r in more ways than one.

God bless you... and Texas.

Youre clowning on me? K. And if you want a one man team, what happened when Ingram was out of the game for Bama? Oh right, Texas came back. I think if you have to constantly state how much smarter you are and how you are "clowning" on someone, chances are good you arent. And you really arent, you just agree with yourself and for all the patting yourself on the back youre doing, its really not changing anything. You keep declairing how insecure I am and all this whatnot. Saying it doesnt make it so, all you are doing is utilizing a cop out argument. Im laughing because youre THAT guy. The one who thinks hes just so much better and smarter than everyone when hes at best average. Keep it up, I wouldnt want that facade to end for you.

Our freshman ran up the middle for a 50-yard touchdown. Oops.

I think if you have to constantly state how much smarter you are...

I never said I was smarter than you, and that's how I know you're so insecure. I just said that you are stupid.

rubbering the quote in your sig is awesome. Not all that Alabama rah rah we are the champions crap, that causes gastrointestinal distress. :puke:

After a well deserved break from the AM college football forums, The first post I stumbled upon was this rubbish from rubberring

Rubberring, Sept 11, 2010 is drawing near my friend.:smlove2:

The SEC blog on ESPN has been loving on the Hogs lately. I almost kind of liked it better when people didn't see us coming. Shut up already.

True dat. Ole Miss was the media darling last year at this time, and we saw how that worked out. Of course, the Hogs have a much better QB than Snead.

Hogs should be pretty good this year.

I don't know what to expect from LSU really. I'm just ready for the season to start so I can get rid of these feelings of anticipation and dread combined.

Bucknuts approves this article as well.:smlove2:

It seemed like parts of it could have been written by me.
This past bowl season could have been stellar for the Big Ten if Northwestern didn't give one away and and Michigan State wasn't loaded with convicts who got suspended for a bowl game they still almost won.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda right? I'm psyched for the upcoming season as well, in spite of a sub par recruiting class almost everyone is back from last years team. I am also so curious to see how meatchicken fares this year as it's pretty safe to say this is Rich Rod's last chance to do something. I heard on ESPN that the rumor was he needed to contend for the conference title to keep his job and that's not going to happen. They will be better but the 10 wins they will need to win the Big Ten isn't happening.

Actually, the key word in the title of that article is gradually. By 2028, they might even have another national title. Might. After they expand to 32 teams.

You know, I pledged to BUCK that I'd no longer initiate the SEC/Big Ten smack... but plenny, you just keep coming with it. Of course, I'd do the same thing if I were you. After 9/11, you'll have to resort to telling me how young Penn State's team is, how warm the weather was in Tuscalossa, and that the real game is in 2011.

Boo.

Don't do it that's part of the fun of this thread. No offense rubbering but I'm going to rooting hard for Penn State but in all honesty I think it could be ugly for my fellow Big Ten team.

Hey, I don't blame you. Gotta stay loyal. Penn State's in a really good position, actually. They have to go into hostile territory with a young offense, they won't be ranked all that high, and no one expects them to win. On the other hand, I have to get used to the fact that Bama will be expected to win every week now. I got pretty used to the frequent underdog status. This year's team's fate will be determined by how hungry they stay. For that task, there's not another coach in the country I'd want at the helm instead of Saban.

young offense, YES!! And a battle for the QB position as we speak. IMO, the QB situation isnt as vital as the O-line, which has gotten better as last season progressed. With 2 of the best RB's in the big 10 in Royster and Green, the O-line needs to open an "old-school" running game. We have 3 new LB's in the line up this year, but Linebacker U will develop them in to machines by the season opener.

Very interesting...

"Orangebloods.com, the Rivals.com website for Texas, reported Thursday that the Pac-10 "appears" to be preparing to invite half of the Big 12 to join its league: Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado.

The Pac-10 and Big 12 have been discussing a shared TV deal to maximize value while playing more football games between the leagues. Orangebloods.com reported the Pac-10 could start its own TV network with 16 members and command premium subscriber dollars rivaling the Big Ten Network. Such a merger be tween the Pac-10 and Big 12 would build a conference with seven of the country's top 20 TV markets (Los An geles, Dallas, San Francisco, Houston, Phoenix, Seattle and Sacramento).

Orangebloods.com also reported the SEC has had serious conversations with Texas A&M. It's been widely thought that if Texas leaves the Big 12, Texas A&M would join the Longhorns wherever they went.

In Thursday's Houston Chronicle, Texas A&M Ath letics Director Bill Byrne was asked if the SEC is an option for the Aggies if the Big 12 breaks up. "It might be," Byrne said. "You know what? It might be."

Slive declined to comment when asked if the SEC has talked with Texas A&M. "Strategic and thoughtful," Slive responded in a popular refrain from what he says about SEC expansion."

And then this...

"After daylong discussions regarding the possible breakup of the Big 12, a scheduled news conference was abruptly canceled, fueling speculation that the 12 schools are far from agreement."

Hmmm...

Just read this online I want to say how surprised I am but I heard the kid has a Ohio State tattoo on his arm.

"Chalk up another major recruiting coup for Ohio State and coach Jim Tressel.

Three years after the Buckeyes landed the nation’s No. 1 recruit in quarterback Terrelle Pryor, Tressel did it again by securing a verbal commitment from Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne quarterback Braxton Miller, who is widely considered the nation’s top QB recruit for the class of 2011.

Miller, the cousin of former Ohio State wide receiver Dee Miller, announced his decision to play for the Buckeyes at a press conference Thursday.

Seated at a table for the press conference, Miller had five hats in front of him representing Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Notre Dame. He toyed with the hats before picking up the Ohio State hat and smiled, making his choice without saying a word.

Miller has started for Huber Heights Wayne since his freshman year and will be entering his senior year this fall. The 6-foot-2 Miller is considered a better pure quarterback than Pryor was at the same stage of development, making a name for himself in the passing game as opposed to Pryor’s prep reputation for his jaw-dropping athleticism.

Miller has accounted for 50 touchdowns in his high school career, with 2,628 yards passing and 938 yards rushing. He is the 12th player to verbally commit to Ohio State for the upcoming recruiting class."

I surprised the Pac10 doesn't want Baylor so they can continue to make it nice and easy for USC.

This is all about TV money. Nothing else.

A&M TO THE SEC?

There does appear to be some resistance to an invitation from the Pac-10 from at least one of the six schools being targeted - Texas A&M. According to a source close to the situation, A&M officials have had serious conversations with the Southeastern Conference about the Aggies joining that league.

In Thursday's editions of the Houston Chronicle, A&M athletic director Bill Byrne was asked if the SEC is an option for the Aggies should the Big 12 break up, and he said, "It might be. You know what? It might be."

Byrne, the athletic director at Oregon from 1984-92 before going to Nebraska, has been openly critical of having student-athletes travel west, only to return home at odd hours.

Byrne has used the example of when the Aggies had their men's and women's basketball teams in Spokane and Seattle for the NCAA Tournament in March and couldn't get back to College Station until 6:30 a.m. with students having to attend 8 a.m. classes.

It's no coincidence Byrne's example included cities in the Pac-10's dominant time zone.

There is also reason to believe Oklahoma could be enamored with joining the SEC. But that does not appear to be an option Texas officials would be willing to consider. There is a sense among UT officials the academics in the SEC are not on par with Texas.
If A&M and Oklahoma were to splinter off and join the SEC, the Pac-10 would obviously have to revise its invite list.

Any move the SEC made in terms of expansion would likely cause the 15-year, $3 billion in TV contracts the SEC landed with ABC/ESPN ($2.2 billion) and CBS ($825 million) to be re-opened for negotiation.

The question would be how much more money the SEC could command in TV revenue without starting its own network?

A&M is starved for cash because its athletic department fell $16 million into debt and received a loan from the school's general fund to pay it off, causing a rift between the university and athletics. That rift, in part, led to A&M school president Elsa Murano to resign under pressure because she was pushing for the money to be paid back and was met with resistance by A&M system chancellor Mike McKinney, whose sons played football at A&M, and possibly even Texas Gov. Rick Perry, an Aggie who is still very involved in the school's politics.

Surprisingly, the Legislature doesn't appear to be an obstacle for the state's two biggest schools to split off into separate conferences, although that is not an ideal situation for either school. If A&M opted to head to the SEC and Texas opted to go elsewhere, there is a very good chance Texas would no longer play the Aggies in any sports.

Texas would **** themselves over and forever hand the state to A&M if that happened.

This whole situation is pretty interesting. I just saw the Rivals article about emails from Ohio State's president to the Big Ten commish about Texas joining their conference. Seems to have something to do with Texas Tech too.

"Ohio State president Gordon Gee told Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany in an April 20 e-mail that Gee had spoken with University of Texas president Bill Powers. In the e-mail obtained by The Associated Press, Gee writes that Powers would welcome a call to say they have a “Tech” problem."

It would suck for Texas and TAMU to be in different conferences. I'd assumed that A&M's actions would be based on what UT does, but it seems the Aggies' desperation for money might cause them to be more proactive than reactive.

A&M would go no where but the SEC. The SEC would never pass up on a large Texas team to expand their market. A&M culturally belongs in the SEC as well. Texas should go to the Pac10 with the other limpwristed pussies and play marshmallow football.

That would be unfortunate. If the SEC is going to expand, I'd love to see them get Texas, TAMU, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. Let Oklahoma State and Texas Tech go to the Pac-10, while Missouri, Kansas, K-State can join up with the Big Ten. The Oklahoma-Nebraska rivalry needs to be rekindled anyway. Same for Texas-Arkansas from the SWC days.

And even though the aforementioned teams aren't really in the southeast, Commissioner Slive wouldn't even have to change the conference acronym. SEC would then stand for Super Elite Conference. :fing02:
