2009 College Football Season

I can't believe Carroll is going to Seattle. This sucks.

It was a good win, and people need to stop with they "hypothetical" crap. Bama won; it's in the books; let's move on now.

Not like we got much else to talk about. Recruiting with a group of fans that don't root for the same team is awkward. Because we all don't know enough of recruits for other people's school to really talk intelligently.

Tuberville to Texas Tech. Says he's keeping the aerial attack on offense to maintain continuity, but will make changes on defense.

Will be interesting if he can build a real D and have that kid that played in the bowl game when Potts went down still go out and do his thing on O.

Thought that kid had an arm.

I'll address your post when I watch the game again on 360. In short - yes, Texas had plenty of flaws in that game.
I just object to all this domination talk. Not sure if it went on here - didn't read any post game threads after I posted mine at half time. Have seen a lot on Facebook though.

Either way - enjoy it.

He probably wants out before the NCAA sanctions.

Yup - something fishy in the air in Southern Cal.

He probably wants out before the NCAA sanctions.

Only thing that makes real sense. Because he had the choice of any recruit he wanted while at USC.

From Wetzel @ Yahoo! Sports:

"Sources with knowledge of the situation say the NCAA is in the final stages of what has become a two-sport, department-wide investigation into USC athletics. A source told Yahoo! Sports that Reggie Bush voluntarily met with NCAA investigators last summer to discuss allegations of receiving extra benefits from marketing representatives.

The NCAA is expected to finalize its investigation in the next couple months if not sooner.

Details in the case date back to 2004, when Bush allegedly began receiving cash, clothes, cars, travel and a rent-free home for his mother and stepfather from marketing companies. The case could run through last month’s revelation that Joe McKnight (“the next Reggie Bush”) was driving a SUV registered to an L.A.-area businessman. It also includes agent activity surrounding former basketball star O.J. Mayo that led to the resignation of coach Tim Floyd and the school sanctioning itself last month.

If the NCAA declares Bush retroactively ineligible for the 2004 season, the Bowl Championship Series has said it will consider stripping the Trojans of its lone BCS title during Carroll’s era.

By the end, who knows what will be left."

Looks like he saw the NCAA coming and decided to get out of dodge.

Kinda reminds me of John Calipari this past year except he didnt go to the NBA. USC must be about to take it bad because Pete is getting out of NCAA coaching so he cant be punished lol.

It really sucks that the coaches and kids who are involved with the infractions just walk away while the school is left to deal with the repercussions.

Ya as much as I hate USC it does suck for them. It sure looks like USCs reign over the Pac 10 is over.

I saw somewhere that Mike Reilly is a leading candidate for the USC job. I don't think Riley will inspire top recruits to come there like Carroll did, unless they continue to get paid as well as past recruits then maybe.

Riley is a Bammer, and played for Bear Bryant in the glory days. Of course, I pull for the guy. He was the OC/Asst. HC at USC from 1993-96, and did a great job in that capacity. However, you're right about Riley's personality. I seriously doubt he will inspire recruits to come to SoCal like they have been in recent years. He's about as far away from the "Hollywood" persona as you can get... which is to his credit.

He's a great guy, he was HC of my fav NFL team the Chargers for a few years and frankly he TOO nice, too vanilla, too predictable. I root for him as well though because he is a genuinely good guy.

Do they have the god damn forward pass in Tuscaloosa???

I am gonna watch it again but that was not a dominating win.
A green as **** QB gets them to within a FG and that is dominating?

Sorry but McElwain and Satan went to sleep in the 3td Q. Was like watching Larry Coler again.

If Punt Bama, Punt were so powerful - how in the hell was it that close?

Serious

I've been on campus visiting my nephew the whole weekend and all everyone at UA campus is talking about is how they won the championship the SAME EXACT way 18 years ago. That is Bama ball baby, it has NEVER been fancy, EVEEEEEEEEEEEEER!

And, it never will.
Their game is to get the lead and sit on the ball...that is their game and it has always been their game despite who their opponent is. Hell, this is the first time in years we have even had a real WR recruit in Julio. We recruit defense, and offensive linemen and RB's, not QBs or WRs. Every now and then they will get pass happy and toss 3 TD a game but their hat is hung on defense, and running, plus sitting on the lead.

They played their game and won, Texas's defense was pure trash and that is what cost them 37pts, not Colt McCoy.

It's ugly, it's slow, it leaves you disenchanted at times, and, and, I LOOOOOVE IT!!!! It is better than sex at times...yes, I said that...

Also, I never considered a 16pt win against the "best rush defense in college football" a "close" win.

Nope, Rielly just signed a 3 year extension with the Beavers, so he's not going to USC.

Thanks to those who repped/IM'd their congrats. Had an unbelievably fun time in Pasadena. We took over The 35er Bar on Colorado! Wall-to-wall crimson all day! ROLL TIDE!

Glad it went well for ya my friend. Thanks again to you and your class for the poster w/ Samantha. Everyone on this end gathered around the computer for a look before the game.

Lane Kiffin took the USC job. wow! I didn't see that coming.

Damnit!! Kiffin would not have been my choice. I'll have to roll with it, but doesn't mean I have to like it. He'll need to prove himself to me.

Bye Vols.

Monte and Orgeron gone.

Norm Chow to USC?? I saw that. Holy crap. What an upgrade for USC if true!

Wow what piece of work Lame Kiffin is. All the more reason why I hate USC. I hope the NCAA takes away 15 scholarships.

Sorry these are just 2 things I hate and they just joined forces. The only thing that could make me hate USC more is if Tom Brady somehow became the starting QB for them.

Is Monte following his turd of a son?

What I want to know is if he can get hit with some of these sanction since he was part of the coaching staff while all the violations went on.

I wonder how long it will be before Kiffin runs this program into the ground and just pisses everyone in the Pac 10 off.

I guess I will be cheering for anyone in the Pac 10 that isnt USC... oh wait I already do that.

Monte too? God this just keeps getting worse.

really was a jerky move. He is, however, assembling a solid staff. His dad is coming with him, Norm Chow as OC and Ed Ogeron again on the line.

How can a school that's facing NCAA sanctions hire a guy like Kiffin? This is exactly what USC didn't need. Norm chow and Monty Kiffin coaching offense and defense does sound pretty good though.

I think that is why teams have hired Lame Kiffin lol.

His leaving the school is bittersweet for an nd fan. It's no surprise to anyone that knows college football. Don't worry about recruiting, that school recruits itself. As for kiffin, I guess now I have to hate his @ss!

Just read that Gruden turned down Tennessee's advances. They need to hire someone big to make up for this debacle... but there aren't to many big names out there. I doubt Muschamp would be interested because of his "coach-in-waiting" status at Texas.

Maybe Mike Leach???

I was just about to say that. I think Leach could be a good fit.

Looks like Skip Holtz will be South Florida's new HC... and that Norm Chow is staying put at UCLA.

And after Muschamp, Gruden, and Calhoun all turned the Vols down... looks like they went to their last resort in Duke's David Cutcliffe. This will be his third stint in Knoxville. Hell, they may as well have hired Phat Phil back!

He wasnt a backup, he was a true freshman that had never started and he brought Texas within three. Your offense didnt "rebound and restart" from conservative play calling. They had a 4 yard field to the endzone and then scored another classless TD after the game was out of reach. You almost lost to a true freshman. Pathetic. Bama can indefinintly be stopped and they will be. Until then, enjoy your walmart trophy, well be seeing you again.

^^^That is the saddest thing I've ever read.

Wasn't a back-up... but a true freshman? Wait... what? Never mind... ((sigh))

How about a little accountability on your team's part? Texas got exposed for what they are -- a one-trick pony. When your star QB went down, did your fierce, #1-ranked rush defense step it up? No... they allowed two of our running backs to go over the century mark. Richardson made them look silly. Oh, and speaking of a 4-yard field... that's about what Texas had in the first quarter. In fact, I believe it was 1st-and-goal from the 1-yard line. Bama's defense DID rise to the occasion then, in order to compensate for a poor play-call on the punt.

Here's what the Tide has gong for them that your team doesn't: Any SINGLE player on Bama's team could've gone down in that game, including their best offensive player, Ingram... and the result would've been the same. Our Butkus Award-winning LB wasn't even our star player on defense last Thursday. Texas got by all year on a soft schedule and the play of TWO players -- McCoy and Shipley. Don't blame Alabama because your team was one-dimensional. Bama was, unquestionably, the best and most complete TEAM in college football this year. Now I know why all the trees in Oklahoma lean south. Because Texas' running game sucks.

Classless TD??? Are you joking? They RAN the ball straight ahead on every play. Wait... did the 'Horns not see that coming? Christ. It was their defense's job to stop them. They couldn't. Ball game.

Yeah, you're right... Alabama's pathetic. Enjoy those sour grapes, #2. In the meantime, send an email to Mack and remind him to recruit a running back this year... that is, if you can type through your tears.

Theres backup QBs and theres QBs that were in high school 6 months ago. One trick pony? PLEASE. Imagine if Bama lost Ingram/Richardson. Then youd have...your six completions. Bama loses the running game, they are finished. The Bama defense managed to stuff Texas' weak running game, oh man, shocker. Imagine if McElroy had to pass to get into the endzone. LOL. Even though they blew that and a bull**** penalty called back that TD. No really, Alabama sure did shut down that Texas running game. I mean, they really had to worry about that pass threat from the true freshman that had never started a game before. That much have been some tough play calling. "Hey, lets throw 8 into the box."
"What about the next play"
"Thats a toughie, he may throw the ball effectively. Oh wait."

And in fact, thats how you got burned twice on two long pass plays. Bama got away with a bull**** game that lasted 7 minutes as far as Im concerned. If it had been any other postition, then you can pull the team card. But the QB controls everything on that field, especially in a passing offense. The game was bull**** and you damn well know your ******* was tight as a damn drum until Gilbert fumbled on the 4 yard line.

By the way, if you can pull his black **** out of your mouth, how did Wholio Jones do? Oh right, youre a one trick pony. Colt would have raped the **** out of you guys and we never would have had to hear about the hype that is the SEC.

You're in the same class as Lane Kiffin.

Well, here... let me do something Lane would never do: apologize.

I apologize that Texas has depth issues.

I apologize that Texas spent most of the season trying to pad Colt's stats during an unsuccessful Heisman campaign, instead of giving their freshman QB ample playing time.

I apologize that Texas hung their NC hopes on one jersey.

I apologize that Alabama's defense hits so hard.

I apologize that the same QB excuse you refuted after the OU game doesn't work for you now either.

Lastly, I apologize that Saban didn't immediately go to Mack Brown in the first quarter and say, "Hey man, let's just finish this game next month when Colt's feeling better."

You must know that others are reading this thread and getting a huge laugh at your attempt at victim status. Yeah... you don't wear that so well. You've been a total arrogant redneck douche since you entered this thread, and now you want to call the world out for being "classless." If the shoe were on the other foot, I would've been majorly disappointed, but still realized that my team just didn't get it done on defense or in the running game... which happen to be two major phases of a football contest.

The funniest part of all this is that you constantly promote your manhood on here, yet you can't find the testicles to just admit your team lost and congratulate the other side.

So dude, take some advice from this pu$sy-liberal, metro-sexual, west coast elitist f@g: Quit being such a little biatch and just man up.
