2009 College Football Season

I just posted the most important stats up. When the elite teams from the conferences prepare for bcs showdowns the big ten is 8-11. If you noticed the bottom feeder sec teams end up with the almost conference champions of the other conferences ( Clemson vs kentucky. That's why it makes more sense to compare just the bcs bowl games.

Well another slow ass, un-athletic Big Ten team whooped a fast, fast athletically superior southern schools ass tonight! If only Mich St didn't have 14 players suspended and Northwestern had a qb who didn't throw ints in the end zone or had a kicker who could make 1 out of 2 game winners this would have been a banner bowl season for the Big Ten.
GO BUCKS!! GO BIG TEN!!

I must say that after seeing Iowa kill the king of the acc I am close to breaking my fan boy bond with the sec and converting to the obviously superior big10. With an impressive performance in the national championship game Thursday I think I may. Oh wait. They didn't put a team in h onl game that matters all season did they ? Scratch that. Sec it is !!

Have you really resorted to bragging about beating ACC teams... if they meet the definition of southern? You know, Georgia is in the SEC. They're our #5 team. They beat Tech too. Should they count that as a conference win?

If only...

^^^That should be the Big Ten's new slogan!

Well fellas, I'm taking my little sister on a California road trip down I-5 tomorrow. Pasadena, here we come! Win or lose, we're going to have an awesome time. Of course... it'll be a whole lot more awesomer if we're singing "Rammer Jammer" at around 9:00 PST on Thursday night!

TexasTitan, I would say good luck... but that would just be incredibly insincere. So, I'll just leave you with an unbiased hype video:

:haha: Do you mean to tell me that the most classless fanbase in all of sport(SEC) isn't going to admit that they were wrong? I'm stunned.

I do have to point out that I can't understand why everyone hops on the "its cool to hate Ohio State" bandwagon, when in reality Oklahoma has performed far worse in big bowl games over that past 5/6 years. It is just as equal of an argument to say that the Big XII is one(possibly two) trick pony as well. UT and OU. I realize every now and then Oklahoma State has a good season. The Missouri argument doesn't hold up too well because they can't beat Texas or Oklahoma. Nebraska hasn't been that good since the glory days (Pelini may have them on the upswing though). I can guarantee to you that up until this season, USC has been the only PAC 10 team worth talking about (on a side note: I have lost track of how many NCAA infractions get swept under the rug at Hollywood U). While USC has been great, they are the only PAC 10 team who has been great. Since the downfall of the U and Florida State there really is no discussion for ACC and the Big East. Cincinnati got a taste of big boy football this weekend and the game was about as competitive as most educated college football fans expected it to be. I'm not joining sides or jumping my SEC ship, I just see a double standard. Is it the end of the season that has me being very comtemplative? Am I having blasphemous thoughts? Maybe I am upset the Mayans will be right?

I fully expect to see Orwell's Thought Police at my door when I get home tonight.

These comments can only mean one thing, we've found a logical SEC football fan who isn't espousing the same ole played out, tired nonsense in every post. Your definitely in jeopardy of losing your SEC fan card though bro, I suggest deleting this post immediately and making some idiotic comments about how much you think The Big Ten sucks.

errr...ummm..... Screw you Big Ten!

Bama goes up early, Bammers will be like ohhh we gonna win and texas comes back and goes up by a small margin and edges bama for the 2nd crystal ball of the decade.

Well GT is in the ACC which I think most people agree is the weakest of the BCS conferences. GT is a 1 trick pony and if u stop the trip option and cover their 1 good WR u r good. The game should have been more 1 sided than it was though. I didnt realize how iffy Stanzi was as a QB.

Good show for Ohio State, you're QB finally started throwing the way he's capable of. I was personally disgusted with the failure of our offense to execute properly.

You're right BUCK, the SEC and Big Ten are essentially equals. Even the Associated Press knows that...

I hope everyone realizes that even though I think the sec is supreme in college football as any sane human individual does. I am still pulling for Texas in the nc game. Living in Alabama as an auburn fan with Alabama winning the nc is not something I want to live through.

Not quite sure how this is important to you, it means nothing to me. It's a bit like the coaches poll in that you you have people voting for a guy who they never saw play. This is nothing more than affirmation of the SEC hype and bias that exists in sports media.

Pasadena, here we come! Back on Saturday to either gloat... or cry. Win or lose, I bleed CRIMSON.

ROLL TIDE!

You'll be fine. I was nervous before going to the UF-Oklahoma game last year - that's part of the whole great experience. I think this game won't be as close.

BTW, thanks for the poster with Samantha!! Please tell your kids how much I and my family appreciate it!! No one can believe how her memory made it from coast to coast.

Jeff

All guidos deserve corporal punishment...maybe even capitol. She deserved it purely for wearing an Ed hardy trucker hat.

Good luck to both teams in the nc. Have a safe trip rub. Congrats Penn state. I'm out and leaving on a plane for cabo San Lucas @ 6:30am. Talk to you guys upon my return.

Speaking of which does anyone know any good free recruiting sites that are national? I know of several that focus on my beloved Buckeyes but not a good free national site.

Rivals.com..But I guess some of the scoop they deliver you have to pay for.

You can get a good idea of where the best high school players are probably going though.

24-6 at the half and no McCoy = game over.
Congrats rubbering Bama has been the best team in the country all year so no surprise they took care of business.

Congrats to Satan and the Tide.

This sh*t is over.

Really disappointed McCoy didn't play. Always want the best out there against the best.

The free Rivals and Scout boards are a clusterf*ck at Miami. I'm an admin at our Scout board. Lot of crap rumors but some people have real info. If you watch for a bit you'll see who has the real sources in the AD.

May give those a shot.

No McCoy = Alabama domination. That Bama defense is one of the best I've seen, probably second to the Canes defense that stomped Nebraska in the BCS Title Game.

Are you serious? I have to go to work but Bama domination? They let Texas under a TRUE FRESHMAN QB who previously wasnt a starter and he took them to 21-24 with a shot at winning the thing. Give me a ****ing break. Domination my ass. Its a damn shame we couldnt have seen colt on the field to get the real outcome of the game...Texas wins by 10 in that. Seriously, had he stayed in, it would have been ugly.

Texas wins by 10? Lmaaaoooooo!

Dude, please, Colt was not 17 points better than Alabama.

The defense knocked Colt out of the damn game, do you understand what I am typing? That defense broke the "greatest college player in history", Tim Tebow's win streak. Their defense won several games for them this year. It is no different than 1992 when the defense destroyed every single opponent they faced, including the high scoring offense of Miami.

Granted, I'll give you this, McElroy tried everything that he could to hand the game to Texas, but Ingram, trent, and the defense just wouldn't let him do it...

If we are going to talk about "what ifs". Let's say, we'll take 7pts off the board on the shuffle pass. We can't give Texas any pts from that though because they were just running the clock out. But we will take 7 from Bama.
And, let's take 3pts off of the board from the interference on Julio on the kick off where Texas got the ball back and kicked a field goal...also, let's take back that lucky bounce Texas got on the fake kick off that went for an onside kick, which resulted in 8pts...so, that's 11pts we'll take off of Texas...

Bama still scores 30 and Texas scores what????

And, ALL OF THIS all the while McElroy, OUR QB, was doing everything POSSIBLE to hand the game to Texas.

F'k outta here.

And, one other thing, if you look at the game without the "hate" blinders on, you would see that bama pulled back ALL OF THEIR offensive sets and started trying to grind the game out once they got up 24-6.

It wasn't until at the end, after Texas had made a run, that Bama actually tried to score the ball.

Any high school football coach could tell you that's why Bama wasn't scoring in the 3rd. Texas defense didnt' get any better, bama was running the ball str8 up the middle the whole quarter, nearly. AND Ingram was out.
Had bama kept the pedal down, they would have put up 45 easy hell, maybe even 49 or 50. The only plays that Texas stopped bama on was I-form and when McElroy was giving it to'em.

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

So, since you're living in a world of hypotheticals... let's go back to Bradford in the Red River Rivalry. Oh wait... then your team never makes it to Pasadena. I know... ouch.

One more thing: Does McCoy usually change his jersey number and play defense as well? Because TWO Alabama running backs went over the 100-yard mark yesterday against that vaunted #1 rushing defense, so... just wondering. Would've been to Texas' advantage to have anything that remotely resembles a running game... you know... just in case.

So, to summarize and conclude:

So, gotta go. Love you.

Alabama: 14 victories, 0 losses - National Champions
Texas: 13 victories, 1 moral victory - Hypothetical-What-If Champions

Hook 'em.

Oh yeah...

ROLL TIDE!

SEC! SEC!

/thread.

Rubberring u know the rebuttal will be "the team moral went down when Colt went out and that is why they gave up so many rushing yards." Not because the big boys up front pushed them back and the running backs ran through arm tackles and punished them.

Not to mention, but I will, Julio didn't have any catches, maybe one? However, Julio was putting the CB's on their butts down field opening up sideline running lanes while Ingram and Trent were gashing them down the side lines.

However, I made a mistake when I typed before. I meant to say that If we had gotten that bounce from the fake kick off that Texas completed, we could have taken a drive from Texas by running out more time off the clock. We would have had in on the 40, going toward their defensive goal. So, this, in itself, "HYPOTHETICALLY", could have taken 7pts off the board for Texas due to one less drive. And, since Bama would have been CLOSER to the goal line, they could have ran different plays and probably scored a field goal, at least.
We have to remember, plays that you run with your back to your own goal aren't the same plays which you are afforded when you are standing on your opponents 35 yard line.

And, yes, Colt could not play both sides of the ball. So, anyone saying that Colt would have been 17pts better than Bama would need to look at how Texas's defense got manhandled as well. And, hey, let's not talk about the blown coverage on Shipley's last TD. When's the last time you seen justin woodall blow coverage over the top? So, hey, since we are talking "what ifs", let's take that 7pts off the board as well and call it a field goal instead....lol

Do they have the god damn forward pass in Tuscaloosa???

I am gonna watch it again but that was not a dominating win.
A green as **** QB gets them to within a FG and that is dominating?

Sorry but McElwain and Satan went to sleep in the 3td Q. Was like watching Larry Coler again.

If Punt Bama, Punt were so powerful - how in the hell was it that close?

Serious

Alabama's pass/run yardage has hovered around 50/50 in big games all season. After they built the 24-6 lead, they went extremely conservative and tried to eat up the clock: 51 rushes/12 passes when all was said and done. They also went man-on-man against Shipley the rest of the way, instead of the zone coverages they planned to use against McCoy. They WANTED the kid to throw. No way they would've taken those risks with McCoy in. To his credit, Gilbert got the ball to their only real receiver on two big plays, blown coverage or not.

Bottom line: Championship defenses step up when their QBs go down. Everything the Tide did was completely predictable... and Texas couldn't stop the run when it counted. Bama's D made big plays when the outcome was on the line. Should Alabama apologize for the 'Horns not having a complete team? Hell, Bama's special teams did everything they possibly could to give the game away. And did you count the dropped passes by the Texas receivers not wearing #8?

Christ, I can't believe I'm defending the outcome of this game and this season. I never thought of picking Florida apart and coming up with hypotheticals last season... but that's just me, I guess. Was it total domination? No. Bama was flat and mistake-prone on Thursday. But it was a very solid win.

I'd expect some ACCOUNTABILITY on Texas' part, but that's asking for too much obviously.

Phuck it, I'm done. Thanks to those who repped/IM'd their congrats. Had an unbelievably fun time in Pasadena. We took over The 35er Bar on Colorado! Wall-to-wall crimson all day! ROLL TIDE!

Congrats to Bama. Your boys did look a bit flat at times Rub, but good teams find ways to pull it out in the end; and they did.

It was a good win, and people need to stop with they "hypothetical" crap. Bama won; it's in the books; let's move on now.

Until next year gentlemen.

GO GATORS!!! :006:

Tuberville to Texas Tech. Says he's keeping the aerial attack on offense to maintain continuity, but will make changes on defense.
