2009 College Football Season

Yeah, but it's fun to watch anyways.

You're right... and I have a feeling the Bearcats are gonna pull this thing out.

I'd love to see them play Oregon or Stanford on a dry field. The final score would be something like 77-72 either way!

You just can't help yourself can you?

Uh-oh Cincy for the win with extra point. YES!

Nah, I posted that just for you! I'm actually hoping for a great game no matter who wins it. Believe me, I appreciate great DEFENSE... something Oregon (or any other Pac-10 team) doesn't play much.

Now, if you'll excuse me... I'm hoping for a small miracle in the Georgia Dome.

It's go time. Roll Damn Tide.

Did any of you see the end of the Fresno St/Illinois game? 51-52 Illinois then fresno went for the 2 point conversion, tipped into the air at the goaline, offensive linemen catches it and makes the 2 points. An amazing end of a game.

Oh yeah, and Go Trojans!

In honor of Tebow's sheer awesomeness (gag), we give you the Tebow SEC Championship Drinking Game!

* Drink every time Tebow is called "a warrior." Bonus chug if any of your friends sing the first two hour lines of Scandal's opus "I am a warrior" and change the lyrics to "Tebow is..." Dance, Tebow, you magnificent bastard.

* Drink every time Tebow's called "a leader," then salute.

* Drink every time Tebow's called a "special athlete," then yell "Tiiiimmmmmmmmay!"

* Finish your drink if the announcers suggest Tebow should win the Heisman again this year.

* Drink every time Tebow points to the sky. Then realize the only reason the sky hasn't fallen is the strength of his pointing.

* Drink every time Tebow references God. Or himself. Tom-A-to. Tom-ah-to.

* Drink every time he's shown on the sidelines flapping his arms like a bird (or an idiot) to pump up the crowd.

* If (when) Tebow actually takes flight, finish your drink and do a shot.

* Drink every time Tebow's on camera for no reason when the Florida defense is on the field.

* Drink every time Tebow is seen screaming with his helmet off.

* Drink every time they show a "I Heart Tebow" sign in the stands.

* Drink every time you see a Florida fan in jorts. (Small sips on this one. Otherwise it could kill you).

* Shot every time they mention his experience as missionary.

* If they mention him performing circumcisions in the Philippines while he was a missionary - Chug your beer, do a shot of Patron.

**When Alabama wins and Tebow gives a tearful speech in the post-game press conference, give the television the bird, turn up your bottle of Jim Beam,

and don't stop drinking OR flipping off the TV till Tebow runs out of tears. (This may take several bottles of Jim) Then throw the empty bottle(s) through the television and quote the good book by saying "the Terrence Cody falls upon the just and the unjust alike!" Club a baby seal and start prepping for Texas.

It's been real...see ya in January......grind baby grind...

Tebow's crying... I don't have an opinion either way on Florida, but come on.

It's no surprise that the guy was going to be crying at the end. He's an emotional dude plus he's probably the one player on the team that puts the most into every play...So, we can't take anything away from him because he's crying. Hell, it's his last game besides the bowl game....hey, somebody had to win it.

Rooooooollllll TIDE...!!

Well, what can I say...

Alabama was without-a-doubt the better team today, so I offer my congrats, Rubbering. Nothing was in sync on either end with Florida today, and Alabama had it together all game. Ingram was impressive. It sucks Tebow went out like this, but he's already proven why he's one of the best to ever play college football.

Until next year; good luck in the NCG, Rubbering. Florida is out, but I'm always going with the SEC.....unless it's Tennessee or Georgia that is. :D

you can't do anything but tip your cap when you get beat. I was wrong about McElroy I thought that dude was the Achilles heel of an otherwise national championship caliber team, but he has really been great the past several weeks. Bama put up almost 500 yards of offense on a good Florida defense, I can't see Texas competing with this team.

First off, congrats to the AM Gator crew. Your team has had a helluva season, and there's no shame in a 12-win regular season. I hope Florida trounces their Sugar Bowl opponent, and doesn't let anyone pull a "Utah" in New Orleans. SEC!!!

To the rest of you haters -- Say what you will about Tim Tebow, but he stayed on the field after the game and patiently waited for Saban to finish his interviews, so that he could offer his congratulations. He also talked with Greg McElroy, Colin Peek, LeRon McClain, and Alabama AD Mal Moore. Tebow = CLASS ACT. Period. You can't mistake his intense passion for anything else.

As for Bama... after informing them of my inability to travel to any of their games this season, they've graciously accepted to meet me in Pasadena in a few weeks.

Well I said it weeks ago, Alabama is the better team (not just today). I found it quite amusing all of the pi$$ poor tackling by the #1 team in the nation. Florida sucks in the redzone as well. This was in my humble opinion, an overrated team. I'm not saying they weren't a great team, but come on, they failed their first and only "real" test of the season.

On a side note; Has anyone noticed the snow falling at the Pitt/Cinn game? I got 4" here in NEPA. I would have loved to see Alabama/Florida play in those conditions. I know, not another run of the mill weather debate by Plenny!! But the truth shall set "yous" from the SEC free.

Rubbering, Congrats an the Tide's victory!!! Watching this game was like rubbing my di** over a cactus, but I found myself cheering BAMA on. I was impressed with McElroy's performance and Saban's playcalling.

This Texas-Nebraska game is so boring... it's killing my buzz.

Man is it ever, this Texas team should not play for a NC even if they hang on to win.

rubbering, do you think your boy locked up the Heisman? awfully impressive performance from him today.

Dude, I couldn't care less about the Heisman... and I don't think Ingram cares all that much either. Give it to Colt... along with the "Heisman Jinx!"

No way dude no Alabama player has EVER claimed that award, that seems hard to believe with the history of that program. Besides jinxes are for kids...oh wait that's trix.

Man what a game...bad, terrible, kick off Nebraska.

Tooth and nail right there. At this point, I can't see how I could say whom should represent #2 in the big game.

lol, had Nebraska a DIME of offense, they would have destroyed Texas. Texas squeezed by on the delicate skin of their nuttttzzz sacks.

I was horrible disappointed in Texas and Nebraska. Just send Cinci or TCU. It would be better because Alabama is going to destroy Texas.

Tebow's scripture message last night

I never really noticed Tebow's scripture messages, but a friend e-mailed me the verse he wore last night.

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." John 16.33

I found the message extremely poignant in light of Samantha's passing this week.

Have a great Christmas guys.
Jeff

Outside of the BCS bowls... I'm having a hard time finding many other intriguing match-ups. Obviously, Auburn vs. Northwestern and LSU vs. Penn State will get some attention in this thread, but anyone excited about any other bowls?

Fiesta, Sugar, and Liberty bowls I like well enough.

Really sorry to hear about your loss Jeff. Will be praying foro you.

Can someone please explain to me how Brian Kelly is that much of an upgrade at Notre Dame? The Irish already know how to score 30+ points per game. They need someone to come in and remind them how to play smash-mouth football. I mean, have you seen Cincy's defense? It might be the only one worse than Notre Dame's!

If they do hire Kelly, here's how I see it shake out: A rejuvenated Gator team is going to destroy the Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl, and then everyone will blame it on the "ND distraction." In reality, it will be the foreshadowing of another... yet another... forgettable hire by the Irish.

Take a lesson from Alabama, who found themselves in a eerily similar situation 3 years ago. Throw as much money as you can at a hard-nosed, defensive-minded college coach and pester the sh#t out of him until he accepts the offer. Saban said no to Bama... twice. Notre Dame's AD should be camped outside of Stoops' home... not interviewing Brian Kelly. But if Kelly's their man, I hope for their sake the next step is luring an SEC defensive coordinator to South Bend.

:goodpost: I couldn't agree with you more rubbering and this is exactly what I thought. The Irish can score points all day they might have lost every game this year if they couldn't because there defense is terrible, terrible, terrible. The thing is, if you're Stoops why would you leave Norman for South Bend? If I were them I would go after Gary Patterson at TCU. TCU has led the nation in total defense 3 of the last 9 seasons and has ten or more wins 5 out of last 7 years. The guy is an excellent defensive minded coach, yes their offense is good as well but Patterson is a defensive minded coach first.

Patterson would be an excellent hire. And with Clausen and Tate announcing that they won't return next season, the number one priority should be changing the philosophy on defense.

definitely! People think it's clique that defense wins championships, but if you look at football history both on the pro and college level the teams who stuff the run and conversely are able to run it themselves win championships. Alabama will prove this out again on Jan. 7th.

Hiring him IMO would be a mistake. We obviously have needed a defense for the longest. I can't take another mistake. Just pay the d@mn salary needed and get the guy we need. I would like to see butch davis, etc long before kelly. No matter what the coaches say, we all know that if the money is right, anyone will move anywhere. I just pray that Jenkins and co will take a step back and think this one out.

Turns out it's not just me -- Verne Lundquist's senility is making waves on the internet. My favorite part is when he says, "Tebow is 39-5 as a starter, and this is his 40th start in a Gator uniform."

That said, dont count Texas out. Texas shows up to big games, Texas has faced "impossible" odds before, and they will play their best football on Jan 7th. If you are still taking offers to go to the NC, I may want in. Can you get tickets? What the dillio?

Man, I'm not even close to counting Texas out. I still remember last year's Sugar Bowl. No way I'm buying into the media's sudden love affair with Bama and ESPN's portrayal of a David vs. Goliath situation... because that's a crock. The 'Horns would've been favored a week ago.

Four words: COLT McCOY FOR HEISMAN.

As for tickets, the public sale starts Dec. 15 @ 8am PST through Ticketmaster (website and phone). They're $275 a pop (plus TM fees) with a limit of 2 tickets per purchase. I'm holding out for then, and hopefully it won't be an impossible feat. If it is, I'm giving myself a $1200 allowance to work with. (Basically, I'm going to the game no matter what.) I'm still trying to get a hold of a friend of mine in SoCal to see if he knows anyone who lives within the Pasadena city limits, because residents get first dibs at face value tix.

My lady will get confirmation on the rooms around the same day. Her hotel has properties in Buena Park and Calabasas, which are both a short distance from Pasadena.

Finally, Penn St gets the chance to smack around an SEC team. Go State!!!!!
S

It could be a pretty good game. I seriously doubt they will smack around LSU though.

You know what happened the 2 times this season Penn State has faced great defenses though. I'm just saying.
