2009 College Football Season

BH, be honest: How many SEC teams do you think the Irish would win against this season. I'm talking each team at the the top of their games... no miracles, excessive self-inflicted turnovers, etc.?

Giving ND the benefit of the doubt: Vanderbilt, Mississippi St., Kentucky, ... Arkansas and Tennessee could go either way.

That would make ND, at best, the 7th best team in the SEC. But, the Irish will play the rest of their subpar non-conference schedule and go 10-2... putting them in the BCS because of their massive Catholic following, while the 3rd and 4th best SEC teams with 9-3 or 8-4 records end up playing in the Citrus and Liberty Bowls.

You don't see why SEC fans get a little sick of the Notre Dame hype machine?

Dude... the Irish are squeaking by the likes of Purdue and Washington. Teams at the bottom of their respective conferences. You really think it's comparable? I wasn't even trying to hate.

You are right about the conference situation.

LSU squeaked by washington too. But since they have squeaked by everybody too, they deserve # 4. Makes no sense. Bama, Fl and thats it in the SEC this year. Just my opinion. If we squeak by W, we suck. LSU squeaks by,, they are the sh*t. If we beat a team that beat a top 25, we suck. If LSU beats a team that IMO is not even deserving of #18, they are just good winners. Man that sucks.

I will accept this W today, just like the rest. Do I think we deserve respect yet, nope. It just doesn't happen like that. I just wish other teams and fans felt the same way. I was taught by my parents that respect is something that you EARN. Not squeak by to get.

Where I sit, the only hype is the SEC machine. Its deserving thus far, but it hasn't always been. Just because the preseason has you at a rank, doesn't mean squeaking by gets you of that deserving spot, while others lose just to move you up. Thats all im saying. Conference or not, a W is a W. I just don't have respect for sloppy winning, my team or any other for that fact.

That might have a little something to do with the fact that LSU won the nat'l title the season before last... and twice in this decade. They earned that kind of respect.

With a schedule like theirs, if they don't deserve the ranking... you'll know it pretty soon.

Just sayin'.

With all love rub... A win is a win like it or not. The 03 cg was given to lsu. The right teams lost at the right time. That's undeserving. Granted they won, but didn't earn it. If lsu squeaked by the same team we did, but they are supposedly #4, what does that make us. Just plain sorry to the same people who say lsu deserves it. That is what I have a problem about. AnYway hats off to the winners and middle fingers to the losers... And cweiss fat @ss.

First off, LSU didn't "squeak by" the Huskies. UW scored a TD in the waning moments to make the score respectable. It was never a close game. They played at Washington. The Huskies had the element of surprise on their side, while ND knew good and well what to expect... at home.

All I'm saying is that if the Tigers don't deserve it... they won't be there much longer. I just thank God Ohio State, Penn State, and ND all had losses by week four... or there would truly be an undeserving team in the top 5... and they'd likely stay there until an SEC team crushed them in a major bowl game.

We wouldn't be top 5. Are you crazy? One of our players can't even win the heisman even if his stats, etc. blow everyone elses out of the water. They would make it a sob story of how someone came from a slum and won the trophy. And you never hear his name in the NFL at all. Thats what Im saying. We have to EARN respect. Others just get it. We can win decisively and still drop in the polls. Its happened before.

Are you kidding me? I disagree completely. If anything, it's the other way around. Notre Dame gets hyped up for almost anything positive they do. Look at the Hawaii bowl game. ND has accomplished nothing of significance in the past two decades! N-o-t-h-i-n-g. Yet, every week I see Irish highlights all over the place. They have Dr. Lou predicting national championships on ESPN. They have a contract with NBC, for Christ's sake.

That's funny. Really.

Of course because the sec is soooo superior. Hahahaha and you say TT is pathological and boring, at least he is funny. You are just boring. Boring and redundant. :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

I'm redundant?:scratchchin: Okay then, I'll make an offer to you Big Ten guys: I won't even compare the SEC to your conference as long as you refrain from doing the same.

Let's see how long you cry-babies last.

We have a contract, but no respect. My problem is that we have no respect. The SEC now has a contract totalling all games per team is more than ND's contract alone. Lou will always be a homer. Who wouldn't be one for their former team? M May is a homer for Pitt for Christ's sake. We can't help it if we are all over the news winning or losing. thats what I don't understand...if we lose, we are on the news with people happy. If we win, we're on the news with unhappy people. Thats cool,, but don't be upset because we sell tickets win or lose. ND fills the seats, and that means money. Bottom line. I just think that other teams should earn respect like ours. Contracts, etc. aside. To be honest, CFB is better off if ND is a good ball club.

When we don't get a bowl win in 9 years...we suck. When we win, it ain't sh*t either. Just don't get it. If people point out the bad, then point out the good too, thats all.

an eye for an eye

penn st/illinois game summary

well, first half was terrible by both teams despite 2 big plays by each. Second half, was the penn state team i expected this season.....effective run game, pass game, and clark running the ball. Penn state's "D" was superior in the second half as well. Illinois could not move the ball most of the second half. Juice williams IMO is one of the best QB's in the big 10, along with Illinois WR A.Benn....I like how Penn state's "weak zone" deffense contained them. Problem area, D-Clark has a case of the fumbles for 2 weeks running. WR corps at times have trouble running routes (will improve in time). Biggest improvement, the run game and the offensive line. final score 37-17

plenny's top 5

1. florida (because thats the way its meant to be)
2. Alabama ( i am impressed with them...so far)
3.Texas ( a big fish in a small pond)
4. Boise st ( i have a hard time putting a 1 loss team in this spot)
5. Cinncinnatti ( i find myself becoming a fan)

We have a contract, but no respect. My problem is that we have no respect.

Okay... why should Notre Dame be respected? Real question -- not being a prick. Hell, I'm not sure Alabama should be highly respected at this point.

Multiple 10+ win seasons in a row, beating lesser teams convincingly, and some kind of championship will usually do the trick in the respect department.

Boise State is in a 20-10 3rd qtr. ballgame with a Division I school at the moment... and I have no problem placing a few of teams ahead of them. Like LSU, Cincy, V-Tech, Auburn, the OU-Miami winner... or even TCU and Houston.

It's extremely ironic that an sec fan would complain about hype. That's so rich it has to be fattening. :icon_lol:

Oh, I'm sorry... let me clarify: undeserved hype. BUCK, you've turned into a really bitter twat since that USC fiasco.

So, answer this question honestly: What is the best conference in college football?

P.S. When you post that icon, I think of you and plenny.

LOL good luck with that....they can't go 24 hours without comparisons......

o and want to know how I know the Big 12 is equally as soft....just turn on ESPN2 and enjoy the beatdown my Hogs are giving TAMU

2 or 3 guys have been negged in this thread for talking crap about the sec, less crap than the sec guys have been talking all along. Who's the cry babies? For being so "superior" you are a very sensitive group as a whole. You want us to come in and genuflect or to prostrate our lowly Big Ten selves before the glory of the almighty SEC. :hail:Ohio State :hail:Penn State:hail:Michigan:hail:Michigan State :hail:Wisconsin :hail:Illinois :hail:Indiana :hail:Purdue :hail:Iowa :hail:Nortwestern :hail:Minnesota:hail: Bow your heads.

There you go feeling any better? :approve:

Im not bitter that we don't. I'm bitter at ourselves because we need to earn it. It really wouldn't matter if we were playing a schedule that was top 20 toughest in the nation, as we did a few years back. No matter what we do, we won't earn respect. We have done far too less in the recent history to get it back. That is a long story short. Im not arguing conference strength, just the respect of it all. If we were to upset a highly ranked team, the critics say that team is having a down year. If we lose, they say we suck and the winning team is really good this year. Look how they put away an "unranked ND" team this year. They deserve to be top 10!

c'mon man I've already answered that ? several times in this thread, but if it massages u sec guys egos a bit ok fine I'll say it again. The sec is the best conference overall in college football. But the chasm is not nearly as wide as you would have us believe, that's all I'm trying to say. I'm being ridiculous to respond to ridiculousness that's all.

Im getting sleepy from the hops.... so I'm calling it quits for tonite anyway. Congrats to winners man. I love college ball, except close ones and loses. And LSU. :)

Has anybody besides me noticed that there a lot of hoes at Florida? I bet the std rates there are off the charts.

That's the best you have? LOL!!!!! Weak sauce; just like the Big 10.

Keep pluggin' those he/she's you call "women" in Ohio...

Has anybody besides me noticed that there a lot of hoes at Florida? I bet the std rates there are off the charts.

I have noticed there are a serious lack of attractive women in the midwest actually.

Anyways, TAMU fails, again. Bring on Tubbervile.

I went 5/6 on my bets and doubled my money and the pros play tommorrow. Im a man.

yeah i have. it's all clever marketing. Florida is all about scantly clad woman on beaches and so on. And some douchebag who never got laid in his life thinks "duh..i might have a chance with her cause i play football so uh im like goin to florida to play ball". Little does he know when he gets there the women are trailor park skanks who #$% their cousins for drug money. And to make matters worse his coach doesn't give 2 $hitz about him and will play him all 4 qrts even though they are beating a 1-AA school 45-0 then he gets hurt...sound familiar???:puppy_dog_eyes:

FTR, I've never negged anyone in this thread. Even the negs I gave to TT in the '08 thread were made up for by repping him for his sarcasm. And that petulant mutherphucker never reps back.

I'll give you Jessica simpson, that was good. but seriously, how can you say midwest women arent pretty. You prolly only been to 1 or 2 games in the MW. Besides, Penn state is considered the East or Northeast..thats were the hotties hail!!!!:nana:

Obviously we have beautiful women in the mid-west, That's more idiotic rhetoric from the usual suspects.

plenny had the best single week score to date in our little group ON ESPN.com this week with 51 points, but yours truly is still out in front overall.

How about them Auburn Tigers!! War Eagle!... Should be ranked in the top 5 based solely off acheivement this year IMO.

Achievement? You mean that their defense is giving up 24 points a game? Totally kidding, man. I'm glad to see them doing well. I figured they be 4-1 or 5-0 at this point. They should beat Arkansas and Kentucky pretty handily. Hopefully, they'll get wins against Ole Miss and LSU next month. It will be sweet if the Iron Bowl is for the SEC West title!:beerchug:

Fifty.

Yeah, no. Southern women are just way more attractive. Ive been to the midwest and lived there. Now there was a whole lot less self respect in general which made them easier but as far as being on par on the attractive scale, not so much. Its much like the Big 10 and the SEC. Okay, the big 10 has a couple good teams but the SEC is just loaded. Texas women have songs written.

Thanks for telling Kiffy to get ****in bent.

I got to give credit to the SEC. They kept the ugly girls out of the big 10.

Wow. When their football sucks, they've nothing left but to attack the women! How screwed up is that?
Pathetic and obviously without merit (unless you like the short stocky type which is, in fact, your typical Big Ten cheerleader look).
Wait a second, did I just stoop to their level??
