2009 College Football Season

well......its here...college game day 2009. Good luck to everyone's favorite school. Now, its off to get some beer and meats for the grill (lean meat) and send the wife and kids off to the mall for the day. I get to watch penn state on the "BIG 10 NETWORK"..

Seattle residents have reported a massive increase in alcohol sales, crime, and a penetrating stench of corndogs.

And grilling is for pussies. Go smoke some meat like a man.

Wow most embarrassing win ever. We should fall from the top ten after that debacle, the worst part for me is that Navy controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. I suspect another ass kicking is forth coming next week.

Yeah, the Midshipmen came to play. As a Navy veteran, I started to get a little excited... I was even humming "Anchors Aweigh!" That interception on the 2-point conversion was a lifesaver for the Buckeyes. Not what I expected... but that's why I love college football!

Waiting for plenny to come rag on you... then boast on his team's big win.:pat: Maybe he can comment on the Iowa game.

But hey, BUCKNUTS... a win's a win, my friend.

What I cannot understand is why our o-line is sub-par year after year with 3, 4 and 5 star recruits all across it. If Navy doesn't have the turnovers we lose that game, very discouraging. Iowa escaped big time that would have been 2 loses by Big Ten schools to bowl sub-division schools in 3 years.

Western Kentucky made Tennessee look pretty good. I can hear the Volunteer fans now... "We're back, baby!" I'm willing to bet Lame Kiffin's drinking the Kool-Aid as I type! I sure hope so... because that 63-7 score may very well be flipped on them in The Swamp.

Corndogs? I have never seen a corndog at an LSU game. They do have jambalaya in the concession though.

You claim to be an LSU fan, and you dont even know disses against your team and fanbase.

Based on what you Navy guys do underway, Im sure you did get excited. In your chaps.

TexasTitan, look at me. I'm a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am. You're just a Texan with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science. Now, go watch Georgia dispose of that Big 12 team.

ok...ok..hmm!! where do i start? umm... i would like to think Ohio st was focused on the usc game and laid down for navy. but a wins a win. Iowa "SHOULD" have lost. Two blocked field goals back to back against a 1AA school. Minnesota loses to Syracuse. now, for PSU. Looked solid in the first half, didnt score at all in the second half. The o-line concerns me even more now. We have the best RB duo in the big ten and the run block absolutley sucked. The "new" wr core made plays, but alot of times in the second half, when D-clark had all the time in the world to throw, they weren't open. The defense is what it is....Good. I was surprised at the agressiveness of Akron on defense from start to finish. I believe there will be improvement in the areas mentioned for when big10 games arrive. Back to OSU, I see them playing much better next week. As much as i hate to say it...I hope they destroy USC

Alright, almost game time. I'm not even gonna make a prediction. I expect V-Tech to be extremely solid... basically everything Clemson was supposed to be in Atlanta last year. It all comes down to Bama's o-line. No way they can win without the big guys up front opening some running lanes.

No matter the outcome, I expect this game to make Bama a better team.

ROLL TIDE.

Congrats Plenny on State's romp.
I am extremely pleased with our defense. I don't care who it is. Good job domers. Take it week by week.

Pretty lethargic effort at best. At least they should be ashamed. At worst - that's a portent.

The D looked much more physical for sure. And Berry and McCoy didn't do anything.

Bryce Brown looked the part. Big time. Man among boys.

Hurts that we lost him.

But dunno what to say - no pressure on Crompton. I wouldn't draw a lot of conclusions if I were a UT fan. (I've not talked to any of my friends yet - a lot of them were in Neyland and are still around campus.)

Now, go watch Georgia dispose of that Big 12 team.

Dez Bryant happened. Pokes up 14 points.

I suspect UGa will go back to the 50 year slumber and play non-conference patsies only if this game continues as such. This will teach them to play out of the South!!!!

I have no respect for the Dawgs and their OOC scheduling. None.

They look to be way behind OSU in terms of conditioning.

Hey Bucknuts, Navy hasn't been a pushover in a couple of years now. Hold your head up. You still won. A W is a W. Yeah it sux to be ranked 6th and play that closely but you could've lost. And take it in stride, this will probably be the only time you can get me to compliment the "suckeyes".!!!:mischievous:

yeah...navy rushed for 100 plus yds every game last year.

Yeah Navy won 8 games last year and beat a Rutgers and Wake Forest both pretty good teams but c'mon we should beat them pretty handily. I'm feeling despondent right now, even if that funky offense they run caused problems that can't explain them whipping us at the line of scrimmage when we are so much bigger and should be so much more physical. The only solace I have at all is that I know how Senator Tressel is and he runs the most basic, vanilla offense and defense in these non-conference games. Perhaps that is me being overly optimistic.

I agree on the winning by more part. You can't dwell on that sh@t though. This was a warm up. Hopefully the kinks got out today man.

What little playing time manti teo had, he definitely proved he was worthy of his "#1 defensive recruit" status. Good things to come.

Hey your Irish looked good they played a team who's butts they were supposed to kick and kick it they did, unlike my beloved Buckeyes.

We were supposed to kick it for some, but some others thought that Nev would put up some points...their qb ain't to shabby. Er, in other games he wasn't. I think we were favored, but you know how that goes with us. If we were, then "you were supposed to win", and if not, "the other team was having a down year"!!

Even though Bama's offense is inept, V-Tech is extremely lucky to be in this game, much less ahead by 1. That kickoff return and McClain losing his cool gave them an easy 14 points. I'm hoping Upchurch (#5) gets more touches in the 2nd half, but McElroy has to realize Julio isn't the only receiver on the field. I'm waaaaay disappointed with the QB play.

Well, even though it was a cupcake team, Florida looked very good all around. A little bit over zealous at times on defense, but that's to be expected in the first game of the season; considering Tebow didn't even finish the first half, it was a good workout game for the Gators all around. Demps and Rainey looked fantastic on the ground. Brandon Jacobs had a few kinks initially, but looked like himself in the end. Aaron Hernandez is a freakin' stud. That kid is going to have a BIG year with the gators.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the UT vs. UF game right now. I hope we put up 100 on Lame d*p**** and the rest of his hillbilly cast.

again, charleston southern in the "swamp"??? is this who the nat'l champions open up with? By all means, Akron would destroy charleston southern which is why my cupcake game was harder than yours.:bling:

A fan of a southern school calling someone else a hillbilly. Pot, kettle, black yo.

Rohl Taahde.

Umm, yep. Not every "southern" state is perceived as a "Hillbilly" state. In comparrison, Florida has more northerners than true southerners in many areas. That I can assure you...

Penny - Warm up games are just that, cupcakes. Florida would destroy Penn State, so what's your point really? In the end, the Gators do all their talking on the field. They've spoken LOUDLY in recent times; 2 National Championships and a Heisman trophy winner as well. Enough said. ;)

Yea I think Navy is going to be a very good team this year and that will make the Ohio State win look good. Right now Alabama looks extremely legit. If they play this way all season I think they finally bloody that arrogant nose of Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow Christ (and I hope they do and they rip "the speech" plaque down -- I mean seriously are you kidding me, a plaque?). I also hope OSU dominates USC's latest pretty boy frosh. Playing in the shoe next week is going to be a whole different world. I would say my Hogs looked great today, but they did play Mizz State.....lol

Hey, I watched Georgia but didnt see any disposal? Whats the deal?

Yeah, Florida fans arent famous for Jorts or anything..

And you say theres more northerners like thats a good thing. Its a horrible thing.

I'm a born and raised New Englander, TT. There are a**holes all over the country. It the end, it doesn't matter where you're from, because they're everywhere.

Your "Hogs" are going to be tied up and roasted in Gainesville on October 17th. ;)

Don't be jealous of the plaque. I'm sure after Florida throttles them Tebow will gladly take them on a tour of the campus so they can see it for themselves. :afro:

Hey, I watched Georgia but didnt see any disposal? Whats the deal?

You're absolutely right. It's official... the Big 12's 3rd best team is better than the SEC's 6th best team. That more than makes up for the last Cotton Bowl and BCS Championship.

Whew... I hope I see the Alabama offense from the second half for the rest of the season. I don't know who that first half offense was. Besides being a Texan, I don't have anything against McElroy, but he needs to quit forecasting his throws. But hey, the guy made his first start against a veteran Bud Foster defense, so I'll give him props.

Shame about Bradford... I know TT's all shook up about it.

I'm a bit surprised Washington is giving LSU fits.

Cal's Jahvid Best has 88 yards and 2 TDs... in the first half! Revenge is sweet. Go Bears!!!!

ROLL TIDE.

I'm pretty sure Miami will have a really good chance at beating OU with Landry Jones back there at QB.

Our front 7 is way better than BYU. We play them in Miami on Oct. 3rd. Based on this 2-4 week outage - he may miss the game, or may be his first game back.

I'm pissed that he'd be out or just coming back and possibly rusty. Would rather see him against our D at full strength.

But major props to BYU. Some great play calling last night.

Don't even get me started on Texas...

Dont get me started on the sorry region known as New England. I would rather live in California than live there.

Its just grrrreat you went to God's waiting room but dont act like Florida fans arent categorized with the rest of the south.

i agree florida would beat penn st(esp the way "state" looked yesterday). That was NOT my point however. my point was..mighty gators, nat'l chumps, open up with a 1-aa school in the swamp. Thats like lance armstrong having to race me with my daughters tricycle....just face it dude...its an embarassment to florida..the sec...and the ncaa.

TT - I really could give two sh*ts what you think or feel about any region in this county. This thread isn't about that.

Who said Florida wasn't categorized with the rest of the south?

Ahh, Plenny. Come December/January, let's have this very conversation again. ;)
